PE2K Spring Cleaning

Greetings Everyone.

This is an exciting time for Pokemon fans due to the recent release of Black & White and the introduction of the new region, new Pokemon, and new strategies. I'm sure we all have been glued to our screens the past few months.

The Summer is PE2K's most active period and, thanks to the new generation, will be even more active than usual. Additionally, we're hosting the WAR again this year for it's 10th anniversary!

So, before we become too engaged in the competitive spirit of the Summer, we'll be cleaning and reorganizing the forum (which we probably haven't done since Pearl and Diamond). This should help dust away the cobwebs that have gathered over the past four years.

The new forum organization is simpler, more intuitive, and targets the community's strengths. We'll be merging some forums and renaming others.

Don't worry. None of your threads or posts will be deleted (unless you are a spam bot).

Please feel free to ask us any questions about the changes. We'll be happy to reply!

Looks nice. And the fact that polls can be made everywhere is really convenient, good job. :)

But one question, what happened to the Graphics section? Will that be included in the Art's section?

Also kudos on getting the Mixed boards organized! :)

If it's not sprites, it's in the art section.

Ah, so you're taking away the "Other Fanfiction" board and the "Other Role-Play" board? Hmm, that should be interesting. I kind of liked that seperation, but I can see how it'd be better to do it this way, since we don't have a lot of threads in those "Other" caterogries.

I rather like the new layout. :) Gets rid of all the unused/horrendously inactive boards and it gives focus to a general category.

The major issue that we have is that we have a lot of places that don't get enough activity, and we also had many rather random artificial separation between different categories that Ryan set up when he first opened up the boards in 2004. I think it's time to streamline the relics. lol

In any case, the "other" stuff would just be allowed in the RP section, regardless of whether or not it is a pokemon-based RP. This is a reversion of back to the original policy in the proboards days.

Creative writing was because we have like 3 places where written stuff are on, and it just didn't make sense to have everything scattered about. The only problem I can foresee are those who linked to many different things in different sections, to which one would have to recalibrate. Honestly that isn't that big of a deal. So instead of having fan fiction its own category, we've decided to merge one of the least used sections of the site with it.

Yeah I think it turned out well overall, considering that it took us a while to figure out where to put everything.

My only real issue with the new layout is that I feel the ASB will be too squished. :/ Depending on your privileges, you can see either four or five/six threads, two of which have Sub-Forums. So would it be like this:

>ASB.
>>ASB: Headquarters.
>>>ASB: Trainer Stats.

Yeah, the ASB is the only thing that I care about, really. I'll manage if all the other stuff is messed up. ;P

I'm all for merging the two RP boards and such, but I really don't see the need for reorganising the whole forum.

But if it is definitely going ahead, I agree with 3m0d0ll. The URPG, ASB and POL should keep their own categories.

Man, I need to post here more.

Still, though, I really like this new layout. Although I'm a little sad at seeing some of those 'Other' forums go, seeing as I did post in them occasionally, everything does seem quite a bit less cluttered now, which is always good. It all really does look a lot cleaner.

I do have to agree that keeping the URPG/ASB/POL boards separate is a good idea, though. Even if I'm not active in those forums at all, combining them into a single entity is bound to cause a few issues in terms of viewablility.

Those kinda prefixes. :)

I think it would be useful like in the Art section, you would have prefixes that say "Graphic", "Fan Art" and "Original Art".. We could also play around, maybe have one that says Graphic Shop, but that really is just a bonus and not needed.

These prefixes could be used for the Writing section as well, "Pkmn Based Roleplay" "Non PKMN Based Roleplay"

So just as suggestion.... ^^;

Anyway really like the new section organization. :D

IMO URPG should still have its own section. Who cares about the other games ^_^
