The wild Dratini leaps up above the water's surface briefly, before flopping back into the water. Volk crawled to the edge of the dock, waiting until he could plainly see the Dratini's circling form inches below the lake waves. He chittered as he zeroed in on Dratini's motion, rubbing his mandibles together as well as his coarse yellow bristles. His body began to acquire large amounts of static, which filled his mouth - at first as little arcs and crackles of electrons, and then as a glowing yellow sphere of bundled electricity. He shot the sphere beneath the water at high speed, making the ball fly into Dratini's flank and explode, spreading dazzling electricity through the water. Galvanized, Dratini writhed and thrashed in pain.

Dratini wanted to strike back, but at the same time she knew that playing the berserker game would be a mistake. She dove further beneath the water, curling her spine and taking in a deep breath of water. A calm began to pervade her mind, and the calm feeling was what she held on to: a knowledge that she was safe. Her body glowed, projecting that idea into reality. Her scales glinted green and shiny; she let out so much light that Volk could see it clearly through a yard of murk-ish water. The light faded, and Dratini swam near to the surface, waiting and watching for an opportunity to strike, and confident that her shields would protect her from any mischief.

The electric spider moved first, climbing swiftly with his little legs. Volk’s body began to glow a pale yellow as electricity surrounded him, creating a shield of light. It grew larger and larger until Volk couldn’t take it anymore. The electric bolts flew in all directions, transmitting through the water and painfully stinging Dratini. Even with its slight resistance to electric moves, the attack had seriously stung. She vowed that her opponent would be hurt even more than she had just been, preparing one of her favorite moves.

Dratini was not exactly sure how she was going to pull this off, but prepared herself anyways. It was a move that her evolutionary line was most famous for, and she knew that she needed to pull it off perfectly if she wanted to keep with it. As she swam faster and faster, a water-colored aura began to develop around her. It shielded her from damage as she leapt out of the air, crashing violently into Volk. It created much more pain than it had looked; Jolk could not have possibly seen the aura that surrounded his foe. However, he did not want to disappoint his trainer; he would have to work harder to make sure he could get it.

Volk moved first, preparing a move that was slightly unfamiliar to him. He strained his body, sapping energy from all around to create a rainbow-colored orb between his eyes. It grew, radiating strange-colored lights as it did so. When Volk decided it was big enough, he pulled himself back and vaulted it at his foe. As it flew, it turned into a beam of colors; they mixed and mixed, creating new colors as they went. Dratini tried to escape, but did not succeed; she had walked right into the trap. Taking serious damage, she knew that her time was limited. She tried to shake it off, but the damage was beginning to pile up.

Dratini, a little unsure what to do now, decided on a clever trick. She charged herself full of energy (thank god she wasn’t underwater anymore) and closed her eyes. A tiny wave of electrical shocks came from her body, coursing towards Volk. They hit, but Volk was a little bit confused; what were they supposed to be doing? He easily shook them off; nothing seemed to have happened.
