Pokémon Black 2 & Pokémon White 2 are the second set of games of the long anticipated fifth generation of Pokémon. These games are due for release in Japan in June 2012 and are sequels to Pokémon Black & White, running on the Nintendo DS. Not much is currently known about these games but they feature Kyurem's alternate forms within them; Black Kyurem in Black 2 and White Kyurem in White 2.

The games can be played on any model of DS

I'm surprised there's so little discussion for this here. Honestly, I'm pretty excited, but I'll buy any main Pokemon game and like it since I've been following this franchise for so long, haha. It's a pretty interesting concept though--I wonder if they'll use N differently. I just hope these won't be bad replays of B/W and will actually have a different plot/outline than the originals. This is the first time GF has done this so it's kinda cool and intriguing. The remakes have never disappointed me yet.

I don't know how this thread hasn't exploded. I love the new box art. I think I will be getting Pokemon White 2. Because White Kyurem looks really cool and I normally don't like legendaries. I am really interested to see how this sequel thing will work. I wonder if the might start adding sequels to other generations as a way to combat making and endless amount of Pokemon/Generations.

I don't really understand why people yell at Gen 5 for having an icecream cone or gears, it's not like good old gen 1 was any better.

I mean, you had an exploding pokeball, an upside down exploding pokeball, magnets, piles of sludge, a featureless blob with a face... And Gens 2, 3, and 4 had their share of equally unimaginative stuff.

If I was up to 700 pokemon, I'd start running out of ideas, too...

Yes, there were unimaginative designs, but that's the nostalgia talking. How can you not be nostalgic for Muk?! But I think they had some good ones this generation. Like Litiwck.

But on topic, I think it's a great idea to run sequels instead of the third statement. And also, to DJ, typically when a game has the original name with a "2" on it, it's sequel. :P

^Oh, I'm not saying I hate them. Magneton is actually my favorite Pokemon. I'm just saying people shouldn't hate on Gen 5 if some of the pokemon are a bit unoriginal. Too much nostalgia means they'd stop creating new pokemon and it'd probably die out pretty quickly.

(If anything, they're MORE original than some others; vanilluxe is the first ice cream pokemon, pidove on the other hand is like the fiftieth generic normal/flying bird pokemon)

I'm excited for these games: they're in an interesting direction. I hope there's some other area to explore outside of Unova however (e.g. something like the Battle Zone or Sevii Islands) and maybe an in-game method of battling Keldeo, Meleotta and Genesect (Keldeo can probably be a roaming Pokémon), even if I have to download a key item to access these Pokémon. Maybe a short Team Plasma event for Genesect like in the P2 Lab? Maybe I'm getting my hopes a bit too high. :-)

Get Pokémon > Meet Rival > Get Badges > Destroy Bad Guys > Get More Badges > E4 > End
It'd be nice to actually get credit for being the League Champ.
Put Cynthia and the Alder (? It's been a while) to shame.

Yes please. I need a little excitement. I really hope the take the time this squeal to break the mold a little bit. They are already doing it so go all the way please.

Listen, I have no problem with Gears. It looks cool. But that vanilla ice cream cone and I hate despised each other the day we met.

I am not upset (not much anyway) about the Pokemon's looks, but rather, by the lack of innovation. The story line, mind you, was the best part of the whole game. They put effort into it, which is a refreshing change from the last several. It lacked innovative gameplay though, which is something I am looking for in new Pokemon games.
