When did you get your first shiny ?

I'm curious to see when everyone caught there first shiny. I caught two in the Pokemon Ruby ! I remember being super excited to finally a real shiny.

First shiny, I got was a Shiny Oddish in my Pokemon Ruby. I later made it evolve into a Shiny Blossom which looked so awesome. Sadly, I gave away my Ruby game. ;_;

the first shiny i encountered was a geodude in pokemon silver, i was thinking of training it, but i sadly never got that far

I've played the games since before shinies even came out in 2nd gen; never not ever have I ever captured, hatched, or even seen a shiny pokemon before.

I got my first one in Red version, actually. I caught a random Poliwhirl and for some reason I decided to trade it to Gold Version. Once it was sent over, I realised it was actually Shiny! I still think it's extremely lucky, not only cos Shinies are so rare but because I actually decided to trade it to a second gen game at all. xD

In third gen I didn't even find ONE shiny. :(

Well, my first shiny was a shiny Whismur in my emerald. I was doing something rather crazy, because I was bored in long car rides, so I had to battle a lot of wild pokemon. Basically what I did was train a male and female of every single species of pokemon I found evenly. Every single species. I have no clue what I was thinking, I couldn't beat the second gym after 120 hours on the game. Anyways, that shiny whismur is awesome, so it doesn't matter. I freaked out when I found it.

I ran into a shiny Golbat on Iron Island on my second playthrough of Platinum, and so far it's the only shiny Pokémon I've ever encountered. I did manage to capture it, and evolve it into a rather cool looking Crobat that I used for awhile. I ended up trading it for a Shaymin later on though, and I don't have either of those Pokémon anymore, sad to say.

I encountered a shiny ghastly in fire red but knocked it out...I was pretty upset about that.

I don't think I've ever heard of someone getting a shiny through having a first gen pokemon with the individual values to be shiny in second gen; that's pretty cool.

Now that I think about it, I guess I could say that I have encountered a shiny before. Only, the shiny Gyarados from Silver Version.

I thought I had a shiny pokemon in the first gen, but had no idea what a shiny was so I was really confused by the green tauros

I may have caught some before this and I didn't know it, but my first shiny was a Zubat in Emerald. Just a few months later, I caught a shiny Aipom in that same cartridge! Also, if there's any of you guys here that aren't familiar with Reddit, I suggest you go there to post pics of your shinies in reddit's r/shinypokemon subreddit. I didn't know about shiny Pokemon when I was young and naive, so when I ran into my first shiny in Emerald (an oddish), I thought something was wrong with my game, and reset it. My friend told me later what it was, and I've regretted not capturing it ever since.

But the first shiny I got was the Gamestop Raikou, which I lost when I reset my game of White D:

I have never caught or seen a Shiny Pokemon in any of the games I owned. The first time I owned a Shiny was because it was RNG'd and traded to me for the Pokemon VGC. uhh

Actually, I've never really run into one until a year or so back ago. I was grinding on Sapphire, then, BAM: SHINY. FREAKING. WHISMUR. I flipped out. And managed to catch it. It's on my Pokemon White right now, I do believe. Then at one point I tried RNG'ing for shiny Magikarp on Diamond, so I have a crapton of shiny Magikarp in my Pokemon White file now, too.

I actually got Pokerus last summer by grinding with Terrakion on a bunch of wild Audinos in Giant Chasm, but...that's a story for another day!

Also, why is this in the Third Gen section, anyway?
