Default Pokémon: Conifer [SU/DS]

Pokémon: Conifer

/\Special thanks to Eternal Moonlight/\
Theme Song: America Town by Five for Fighting

Plot
Nobody knows why or how it happened, but things in Conifer, Colorado were never the same after the night of June 26th, 2012. That night, a total solar eclipse occurred, completely unanticipated by the scientific community. During that night, the people of Conifer were exposed to something. Over the coming years, people would blame that something on everything from aliens to the government to pollution to God, but whatever it was, it changed people. Most of the citizens only received enough to make them spend the next day sick in bed. But a few got a large enough dose of that something to alter their genetic structure.

After the eclipse, these unfortunate souls began manifesting powers and abilities that were only dreamed of before. A young girl began to grow scales and breathe fire. A man suffered a heart attack because it couldn't support the two extra arms that had grown out of his shoulder blades. Animals also suffered from odd mutations, but the human cases were what attracted the most attention for two reasons. First, because those who were affected by these changes were often young adults and teenagers who had their whole lives ahead of them. More importantly though was the severe psychosis that developed in the vast majority of the altered humans. Their inner passions, grudges, and obsessions were all magnified and they began to use their powers indiscriminately to achieve petty goals like killing their bullies or stalking someone they liked.

These cases were analyzed by multiple government agencies and it was decided that the Department of homeland Security would send agents to Conifer to detain mutates before they could do any more harm. A few others heard of the strange events in Colorado and traveled to Conifer for their own reasons.

What is often forgotten when hearing the story of the eclipse and Conifer is that life goes on. People still go to work, kids still go to school, the few agents in town are well undercover, but people are still manifesting powers. Some of them are becoming violent psychotics, yes, but others are just kids scared of what these changes means for them. And no one has realized that there is an odd connection between the manifestations and a certain popular video game franchise. Our story begins on the first day of school, two months after the eclipse...

Your Role
Who are you? That's much more your question to answer than mine. Are you mutated or unaffected? Are you a Conifer native or a recent arrival? There are many paths you can choose. Maybe you're the parent or friend of one of the altered humans or perhaps one of the agents looking for them? Are you a mutate trying to find their place in the world, or one trying to control it?
It's your world, I just brought you here.

Rules
This RP is not like others
  • First of all, you can, no, are encouraged to sign up as multiple characters. Not everyone you create will need to have a major role, but may be a recurring character such as a friend or family member who plays a part in the story larger than that of a mere background character.
  • In order to reflect the very small percentage of mutates in Conifer’s 13,000 inhabitants, only one of your characters may be one.
  • During the duration of the RP, sign-ups will always be open to new characters.
  • You may only sign-up as maximum of three characters.
  • You may have noticed that the story is not as developed as the situation. This is your RP, the decisions and conflicts between your characters will shape the events yet to come.
  • On that note, there is no need to squeeze every one into one plot point. I hope that this RP will be more like a TV show than a novel, and one characteristic of television is that, no matter whether it’s Buffy, Dallas, or Battlestar Galactica, there are always subplots and overarching developments and themes.
  • Also, for a Pokemon RP, there is a shocking lack of Pokemon. In this story, there are no trainers, no coordinators, and no breeders. There are only regular people who have had their DNA fused with that of a Pokemon. To make a long story short, nobody is going to know the difference between someone using Flamethrower or Fire Blast.
  • No God-Modding
  • Bunnying is only acceptable when permission has been given by the character’s owner.
  • Please keep the language and situations PG-13. If it wouldn’t be allowed on a major network during primetime, don’t do it here.
  • Quality posts are what everyone is looking for these days, and this RP is no exception. Check the spelling and grammar. Length is nice, but not at the cost of the English language.
  • You are vehemently encouraged to use this thread or other forms of communication to plan and discuss with your fellow RPers. Plan for the future, but be ready for change.
Sign-Up
Name: (Your character’s legal name, along with any nickname or aliases.)
Birthday and Age: (Keeping in mind that the RP starts on August 26th, 2012.)
Are they Mutated?: (A simple yes or no will suffice.)
Appearance: (What does your character look like, physical traits, style of dress, and such. If you have powers, that changed your appearance describe them, but remember that, unless the DNA of Ditto or the like was bonded with you, you cannot shift your form from mutate to normal.)
Personality: (What your character is like and how they act. If they suffer from any psychosis brought on by being altered, this would be a good place to explain the effects.)
History: (The story of your character’s life before the RP begins. Include what they were doing during the time of the eclipse and if they have already manifested a power, how it happened. Manifestations are most common during periods of great stress.)
Your Character’s Relationships: (Unlike many stories where people are being brought together for the first time, the characters in this RP will benefit greatly from having histories with other characters already. Conifer is a small town so your characters may have regularly interacted. You can include as many as you want, but I’m requiring at least two existing relationships with other people’s characters.)
Other: (Anything else you want to add about your character. A song that represents them, where you see them in the future, any inspiration you had when making them, it’s all fair game.)
Altered Subsection
Pokemon: (What Pokemon’s DNA is combined with your own?)
Abilities: (What powers does your mutated state offer? Any natural ability of the Pokemon is fair game, but avoid abilities that don’t occur in wild Pokemon. For example, someone with Machamp DNA could have four arms because that is part of being a Machamp, but would not be able to breathe fire, even though Machamp can learn Flamethrower by TM. Less is more in these situations, the more abilities you give yourself, the less control you’ll have.)

Default Re: Pokémon: Conifer [SU/DS]

Character One
Name: Liam Lawson
Birthday and Age: March 15th, 1993 (19)
Are they Mutated?: No
Appearance: Liam has been called one of the young entrepreneurs to look out for in the coming decade and he’s doing his best to live up to that image. His style often mimics that of his uncle, especially when making public appearances. When they stand side by side, the two look almost like a father and son, especially with their negligible height difference, but fortunately for Liam, those days are few and far between now that he’s cut his ties with his uncle’s company. His crisp grey suit and single color ties make Liam look older than he actually is. Originally, at his uncle’s insistence, and now out of habit, Liam also wears contacts when appearing anywhere outside his home.

But when he is allowed to be himself and work, Liam loses his jacket, loosens his tie, dons his glasses, and does what he excels at, finding solutions to problems. His messy black hair, often falling just short of his eyes, looks much more natural in this setting. That’s a key point of divergence from his uncle, Liam doesn’t enjoy his suits, and feels that they stifle who he is. When out and about in Conifer, Liam likes to dress nicely, without stifling himself in an Armani suit. Jeans and a black sports coat are his walking around clothes, but even so, when people on the street look into his green eyes, there is always a flash of mistrust and a quick look away.

Personality: Liam was once happy and full of life, but his uncle’s influence rendered him rather aloof and cold. He hasn’t begun to view everyone as a means to an end, but he can be very single-minded when pursuing a goal, not hesitating to cajole people or bend the rules to reach that objective. A childhood of seclusion and isolation made Liam have very little faith in other people and prefers to do things on his own rather than accept help from strangers or even his friends. It is this trait that causes many people to regard him as a stuck-up jerk, but his attitude comes more from a fear of being let down than any sense of superiority.

That isn’t to say that Liam can’t be friendly. He is much friendlier to the press than his uncle, although that relationship has taken a hit with the negative publicity of the recent trial. But even his joking and willingness to talk with the press pales in his enthusiasm when discussing something that he’s passionate about, usually his company’s next big project, the attempted curing of those altered after the eclipse. Despite wanting to help them, Liam still holds the very common view that the mutates are out of control and that the majority of them are terrorists.

History: Liam was born in Conifer to Joseph and Zoe Lawson, and was happy for seven years. His family was not overly strict or lenient, but they were fair. His father tried to instill in him the values of honesty, hard work, and respect, that was, of course, when they weren’t playing catch or romping around the woods near their house. Liam was a perpetually curious child and no matter how many times he would get lost or dirty, he would greet each day with a smile.

Then, tragedy struck. On the way to the movies, Joseph and Zoe were in a car crash, killing them both. Liam’s baby-sitter got a call a little before midnight from the hospital, and had to try to break the news to their seven-year old son. Liam listened, vacantly looking out the window as if he expected the family car to come rolling in any minute. Less than seventy-two hours after the accident, Liam’s uncle and grandparents were embroiled in a brutal legal fight to take custody of the orphaned boy. Due to his insistence of not speaking during the entirety of the proceedings, Liam wound up going to Maryland with an uncle he had never met instead of the grandparents he had spent holidays with.

Once on the other side of the country, Nathaniel began giving Liam the best experience that money could buy. Servants were on hand for his every need and there was no lack of expensive gifts. Private tutors and his natural intelligence allowed him to graduate from business school at the age of eighteen. But Liam’s life was empty. The love and warmth he had known in Colorado was replaced by his uncle’s lessons and tests, trying to make Liam as cold and ruthless as he was. And slowly, but surely the boy who had loved life was replaced by a distant calculator in a suit. But that training had its benefits. In studying the fiscal records and files of Lawson Munitions, Liam not only found evidence of all of the illegal activities his uncle was engaged in, but discovered that he was trying to pin it all on his adopted son.

That night, Liam erased the evidence of any wrong-doing by the company, cashed in his stocks, and booked a flight to Denver. Once he was far enough away from his uncle, Liam started his own company, Lawson Pharmaceuticals, specializing in the research and development of new medicines and patenting them. The Lawson’s avoided each other, figuring it was best to let the other be. While Nathaniel was developing new weapons, Liam managed to isolate a gene that halted the growth of certain tumors and patented it. The woman he obtained the gene from was outraged at being left high and dry and sued Lawson Pharmaceuticals. Liam’s lawyers successfully painted her as a free rider looking to benefit from the work of others, but while the jury was convinced there was a significant public backlash at the company’s treatment of the source of their patent.

Liam shrugged off this setback, and was hiring contractors to do the finishing touches on a research facility he had built in his hometown when the eclipse struck. Over the next few weeks, reports began trickling in that some of the residents of Conifer were blaming the facility for causing mutations and that some of the former employees had become mutates and began attacking the town and the facility. Liam decided to head to Conifer and inspect the situation and try to create a cure for what he viewed as a dangerous, but unfortunate illness.

Your Character’s Relationships:
Nathaniel Lawson: Liam resents his adoptive father for his harsh parenting style, but also acknowledges that he is who he is because of his uncle's manipulation. While he loved his parents, Liam's feelings towards his uncle are much more tied up in respect and a bit of fear. Even when his uncle betrayed him, Liam felt more angry at himself for not anticipating the mood. While he was content to live in his mentor's shadow while he still had things to learn, now that he's started his own company, Liam wants nothing to do with his uncle and is afraid that his life is going to get a lot more complicated now that he's coming back to Colorado.

Daisy Blake: Before being whisked away to Maryland, Liam was inseperable with the daughter of his father's friends, Daisy Blake. Whether it was exploring the forest behind their homes or going trick-or-treating together, the two of them were best friends. But when his uncle removed him from Conifer, Liam lost his only good friend and had to content himself with servants and employees of his uncle. The next dozen years passed without any contact with Conifer and Liam all but forgot Daisy.

Felix Blake: Liam's friendship with Daisy's younger brother was never quite as developed because of the age difference, but Liam still treated Felix as a friend rather than a pest and was more than willing to let him accompany him and Daisy as kids. Once he moved to Maryland, Liam forgot most everything about the Blakes, including the little boy he used to save his Orange Skittles for.

Tin Karma: Liam views Tin as an enigma, but has sacrificed his curiosity for the sake of their friendship. When Tin was in Washington D.C., the duty fell to Liam to keep an eye on him. Tin has made Liam more sympathetic towards mutates, but only slightly. To the younger Lawson, the Karma boy is a special case and someone who needs protecting.

Martin Karma: Liam's generosity towards Tin was not lost on the boy's father. The man attempted to provide a more positive influence for Liam to look up to, but any attempts to become more than acquaintances was hampered by the competition of their companies. While Liam will acknowledge Mr. Karma as a skilled entrepreneur, his feelings don't extend past any sort of professional relationship.

Other: Liam's Theme Song

Character Two
Name: Nathaniel Lawson
Birthday and Age: July 13th, 1966 (46)
Are they Mutated?: No
Appearance: Nathaniel Lawson is a severe man, and it shows. Standing at an impressive six feet and five inches, he quickly draws attention. He is far from being an oafish brute though, always maintaining the professional look that every successful business man masters. Nathaniel’s white hair is always kept in a close trim, same with his small salt-and-pepper beard. His entire outfit, from his black suits to his black ties, is custom-made and always kept in perfect condition, and masks a body that, while old, is still very fit. The only sign that the years are catching up to him are the slight wrinkles around his eyes and the fact that his fingers could only be described as gnarled. Many fail to notice these minor flaws though because Nathaniel lives and breathes the very lessons that he taught his nephew, “Attract attention only because of your strength, never your weakness.”

Matching with his harsh outlook, Nathaniel never cracks a smile unless he thinks it will accomplish a goal. All of the press photos of him for articles about his company show the same man, brow furrowed in concentration, hands behind his back, never fiddling, with a look in his green eyes that always seem to be looking past the present situation and into its repercussions. Nathaniel’s a man people are averse to trying to screw not only because of his team of lawyers, but also because his very gait evokes memories of harsh disciplinarians from high school.

Personality: Nathaniel Lawson is a shrewd manipulator and ruthless businessman. He views others as pawns to be used and then discarded of. His allies often find themselves kept in the dark until they are betrayed and ruined. His enemies are simply eliminated. It is these tactics that got him into the top ten of the Forbes list, and sued multiple times by those accusing his company of insider trading, dumping and pumping stocks, and other illegal practices. But Nathaniel has never been one to let the set-backs hold him back, and his ethics and morals are essentially up for sale to the highest bidder.

The one thing that Nathaniel claims is more important to him than money is family. Shockingly, there is some basis for this since he adopted his orphaned nephew, but his harsh parenting style was more focused on raising a proper heir to his fortune than to allow Liam to become his own man. All of his lessons, all of his belittlement, was to make Liam into a harsh businessman like himself. In transforming his nephew into an MBA, Nathaniel perverted the legacy of his brother and crafted Liam in his own image rather than that of his reviled brother. The Lawson men were never joined because Nathaniel will never be able to connect with a human being on a romantic level.

Aside from his adopted son, there is little but self-interest behind his actions. However, Nathaniel is well-skilled in concealing it, projecting an appearance as a trustworthy man to strangers, his employers and employees. Even the men he hires to do the numerous jobs that Nathaniel would rather avoid getting his hands dirty with think of him as an ultimately good man. But sometimes, the façade slips, and people get a glimpse at the snake in charge of Lawson Munitions. The one thing that penetrates this armor more than anything is the mention of his brother.

History: Nathaniel was the younger of the two Lawson boys born in Denver. While his brother Joseph excelled in school, he struggled and often found himself in trouble. While Joseph was going to his senior prom, Nathaniel was spending his first night in juvenile detention. So he couldn’t help but feel a bit insulted when his sibling, the son that his parents gushed over announced his intention to become a police officer. That same night, Nathaniel decided to reinvent himself. He mauled his hair into a clean cut and threw himself into his studies. Damage had been done, but after repeating his senior year, Nathaniel entered a modest business school just as Joseph left the academy and moved to Conifer. Cutting all ties with his family except for his name, the black sheep of the Lawson’s became valedictorian and in his graduation speech, he denounced the archaic rules holding people back and claimed that the future was his to seize. His family had not attended.

A few years later, Nathaniel was established in the upper echelons of a weapon’s manufacturer with close ties to the Pentagon, when he received an invitation to his brother’s wedding. Looking at the happy life that his brother had made for himself in a hick town, Nathaniel was filled with an overwhelming rage. Fortunately, one of his employees had picked that night to confront him about the millions of dollars that had been missing from several recent deals. Nathaniel sat the man down, gave him some of his best brandy and then smashed his skull in with a paperweight. The law may have interfered then and there, had connections not already been established with the Washington D.C. police.

Nathaniel downloaded a drive full of viruses into the company’s mainframe, paid his bribes, and then fled to Maryland to lay low while the first and last company he ever worked for was destroyed by investigations and Trojans. Using the embezzled money, Nathaniel formed a new company, Lawson Munitions. Immediately he began gathering the best minds to create new weapons for Uncle Sam, and anyone else who could bid high enough on the black market. His brother’s wedding was forgotten in the rush of being his own boss and establishing the beginnings of an empire.

No more news came from Colorado for eight years, until Nathaniel saw his hated older brother in the New York Times as one of their pieces on heroic cops from around the country. With every word about Joseph’s career, his wife, Zoe, and their seven year-old son, Liam, Nathaniel felt his anger building. But this time it wouldn’t be enough to kill a nameless scrub. No, it was time to end this. So, a hit man was hired and two weeks later, the happy parents died in a car crash after having their brakes cut.

Hoping to destroy every last remnant of his brother’s legacy, Nathaniel bitterly fought his parents for custody of Liam. He won, because defeat was not an option when it came to revenge. Nathaniel then pulled Liam out of Conifer to Maryland and raised him to be a businessman like himself, perverting Joseph’s son into his own image. Nathaniel was harsh on the boy and while this made him strong, it also left him cold and emotionally distant. Liam joined Lawson Munitions when he was eighteen, having gotten his own MBA while finishing a GED. Nathaniel began amassing evidence to tie his adopted son to some of the shady activities his company was involved in, hoping to use Liam as a fall-guy and escape with his company intact. But before the plan could be enacted, Liam sold his shares and moved back to Colorado to start a pharmaceutical company. Furious, but not unimpressed, Nathaniel decided to let the younger Lawson have his space, for now.

During the eclipse Nathaniel was negotiating the development of a new series of crowd controlling weapons. The American government passed on the offer, leaving certain countries in need of suppression to bid to their hearts’ content. A few weeks later, Lawson Munitions was approached by a representative from a government agency, he refused to say which one. The man briefly described the events in Conifer and asked for new technology to be developed to detain the altered humans. Nathaniel Lawson was only too happy to help, and offered his own services as a consultant to the agents there, as it was a wonderful excuse to visit Liam. On August 26th, his private jet took off for Denver with a cargo of experimental weapons.

Nathaniel Lawson views the mutates as little more than a means to win more government contracts and enrich himself, but also as a resource that can be used to create the next generation of weaponry.

Your Character’s Relationships:
Liam Lawson: Few would call his relentless molding of his nephew love, but Nathaniel has definitely shown that he cares for him. Everything he has done, from the second they arrived in Maryland to when Liam left after discovering his imminent betrayal, was to make him stronger and better. Nathaniel believes that he has finally proven himself better than his brother by raising Liam. Even after he fled, Nathaniel watched him develop and is eager to reunite in Conifer.

Tin Karma: Nathaniel sponsored Tin after the mutations began, seeing his immense popularity as a tool to be used. The boy was flown out to Washington D.C., out of Lawson Munitions' pocket of course, to speak at a hearing about the mutations in Conifer. Nathaniel has played up his relationship with Tin for the press, but only the two of them can sense how uncomfortable the boy is around him due to his altered physiology. For now, Tin serves Nathaniel as a public relations goldmine, but if the tide of public opinion turns against the mutates, Lawson will have the perfect specimen to examine, right at his fingertips.

Martin Karma: Nathaniel met Martin well on a business trip back to Colorado to investigate companies that would be worth investing in. Their contact was fleeting and Lawson wasn't too impressed with Mr. Karma's elaborate plans and convoluted explanations. After Tin's mutation though, Nathaniel's interest picked up in the Karma family. In his attempts to manipulate Tin, Nathaniel is careful not to step on Martin's toes and openly praises him to the press as a way to try and placate him.

Default Re: Pokémon: Conifer [SU/DS]

Name: Daisy Blake (or Day as a nickname)

Birthday and Age: October 22 1993 (18)

Are they Mutated?: Yes

Appearance: The first thing the strikes people about Daisy is her void-like midnight black hair, which cascades down to her elbows. It could be described as thin, but shows no signs of frailty. Two distinct locks hang on opposing sides of her face, reaching her shoulders. They do not, however, hide either of her two almon shaped steel grey eyes, their gaze slightly unsettling after a while.

What people do not know is that these two features are most unnatural on the girl. During the bulk of her life, she sported a head of light-brown locks, eaten by her Umbreon mutation. Her optical orbs, they are actually crimson, but this change is masked by a pair of colour contacts. Grey was their natural shade, so nobody is the wiser.

The only other change her body has sustained are the addition of radiant yellow rings around her wrists and ankles. These are also kept hidden, under sweat bands and thick socks. If exposed to moonlight, they will glow.

Standing an even 5’4 and weighting the average, Day is less then imposing. Her clothes don’t do a much better job at it either. On average days, her preferred tops are light sweaters, usually in dark blues, purples greys and blacks. Most of the time, a t-shirt is paired with them, usually of a different, yet equally somber, colour. A few sport designs, butterfly, floral, random graphics, but the most striking is the crescent moon, that indigo sweater has become popular. However, on warmer days, the heavier clothing is dropped and only the shirt is worn.

Paired with these are equally dark denim, most a little used at the bottom. Her shoes tend to be, oddly enough are cherry pink and quite Converse-like. However, like one may expect, her satchel is a midnight blue, decorated with a silver butterfly.

Personality: At first, Daisy is a shy, quiet character. She doesn’t usually makes the first move in conversations, the other party having to break the ice first. Her responses before getting comfortable are minimal, although a reply is always provided. They grow more interesting and detailed as she eases into the exchange, but the topic throws her on edge, this is not likely to happen.

Despite her fairly sweet, kind and timid nature, Day has a sarcastic side. Making quips (though other tend not to hear them) at random stupidities is not above her, and occurs rather frequently. Bonus points if the origin of said dumbness is a haughty or egotistical source. She also doesn’t like “cheap double talk” as some label political speeches and such.

However, like most mutants, she does have “issues”, getting urges to exact revenge on those who have cut deep emotional scars. Because of minimum contact and a lighter mutation, fighting these impulses is proving manageable although coping with them is draining. Another tiring problem is her increasing paranoia of being found out, which has eroded the honestly once boasted. Daisy won’t hesitate to lie if it means keeping her secret well hidden.

History: Daisy isn’t one to talk much about her past, which has seen its fair shares of ups and downs. Even from a young age though, she wasn’t terribly outgoing and preferred the company of smaller crowds. Despite her parents’ encouragements, their daughter never became a social butterfly. She did have a few comrades though, including the son of some family friends.

Her earliest years, for the most part, were some of her best. Good, caring parents, nice friends and a non-pest for a brother helped make Daisy a well-adjusted and happy girl. She, however, quickly became a daddy’s girl, despite having a fine relationship with her mother. It just happened Daisy’s character matched her father’s more.

She became a lot more closed when her best friend left. The memories from that period of her seventh year are fuzzy at best, but Daisy remembers the sentiment of loss was delayed. She also remembers it being painful, the first time she’d truly lost someone dear.
After that, life moved on. The girl became a little more withdrawn and timid, but because she was already rather introverted, it didn’t show too much. She also spent a little more time at home with her brother then out with her friends, leading to a strong sibling bond. Even once Felix grew more popular and more of his schedule became busier, it didn’t falter much.

Then, mid-sixteenth year, it was discovered her mother had been having an affair. The tension in the house had been mounting for a while, but Day had not seen that coming for a mile. Things got worse when the woman announced she was going to live with her lover, and invited the kids to join her. Feeling betrayed and having had a closer relation with her father, the girl opted to stay put. Since then, options of the woman have been low and a sarcastic side has grown.

Becoming a mutant really hadn’t been part of the plan. Fearing what the stress of university would unleash, Daisy has lied about considering a change in her goals and has taken a semester off, just working her shifts at work and hoping her situation would improve.

Your Character’s Relationships:

Liam Lawson: Daisy has nothing but good memories of Liam, despite them being buried in her subconscious. They were best friends, enjoying everything from digging in the sandbox to hunting for eggs at Easter. His sudden, unexpected removal severed their relationship, and they lost all contact.

Felix Blake: Being her younger brother, Daisy’s known him for her whole life. They share an unusually pleasant sibling bond, although not as close as before, they still remain good friends.

Other: (Anything else you want to add about your character. A song that represents them, where you see them in the future, any inspiration you had when making them, it’s all fair game.)

Altered Subsection

Pokemon: Le Umbreon

Abilities: Like Umbreon, Daisy can heal herself in the moonlight. The fuller the moon, the faster and more effective it is. Likewise, on the night of the new moon, it is useless.

Being that the Eeveelution is a dark type; the girl has a stronger tolerance to psychic based assaults.

And, like Umbreon, she can strike fear in other, but only if she gives them a “look”. This is most effective when under the gaze of her red eyes, which are currently hidden.

Name: Felix Blake

Birthday and Age: May 7th 1996 (16)

Are they Mutated?: Nope

Appearance: Felix likes sports, and it shows. He isn’t exceedingly muscular, but does in no way appear like an easy target. Standing an impressive 6’3 only adds to that effect. It may also be worth noting that spending much time outside has given his skin a healthy tan.

In its natural state, his hair is a dark blonde, leaning on brown shade. However, having put golden streaks in has accented the blonde, making it the prominent colour. These locks are kept on the messy side and almost reach his shoulders. Intentionally, they also stick rather close to his neck. Bangs hang unevenly, and just barely avoid obstructing his steel grey eyes.

Normally, one can find him wearing a t-shirt of featuring random graphics, including the Colorado Avalanches. This is coupled with a darker coloured hoodie during cooler days and a sleeve-less vest when the temperature is higher. Rarely will it be sported on its own.

For pants, Felix likes his denim, especially the faded verity. The oldest pairs have torn knees and if they’re a lighter shade, grass stains as well. Despite protests, he insists on keeping them, insisting they complete his look. On the other hand, his grey runners are in great shape and still appear new.

Personality: Despite the stereotype, Felix isn’t a jerk jock. He usually found in a pleasant mood, fairly carefree and quite positive. This coupled with an outgoing, social nature make him a popular figure; it is rather rare to find the boy on his own. He pools a lot of time into friends and sports, which does reflect itself in a mediocre C average. It is worth noting that if Felix put more hours into studying, he would get better grades. Sadly, academics don’t place too high on his priorities.

That’s actually a trait worth noting about the boy, if he isn’t motivated by something, little effort is invested. However, the opposite rings true, stimulating events tend to draw much passion and dedication. The people involved to influence his output as well, which leads to an interesting point about Felix. Despite his numerous friends, he cares about very little. Not that he wouldn’t be a little bothered if one of them left or anything, but it wouldn’t affect him more than that. On the other hand, those he does hold dear, expect undying loyalty. Messing with them won’t result in a pretty picture.

Unlike most people, Felix is rather natural about the mutants. He does think they are dangerous, but doesn’t believe they’re all terrorists either. If you ask his opinion, expect a “meh”, oddly enough.

History: Felix has a good early childhood. Unlike most little brothers, he didn’t earn himself the title of “pest” although the boy didn’t really act like one either. He was a little more outgoing then his sister though, and did make a few friends before starting Kindergarten. However, he wasn’t the most popular of characters and most of his after school time was spent with Daisy, who to him seemed oddly quiet suddenly.

He acquired more popularity after his registration with the local soccer team. His skills were rather sharp for a kid without any prior coaching and from that point continued to hone these abilities. Academically, Felix had started strong, but entering the preteen years, grades started to drop. More time was being devoted to sports and friends and less to studying. Despite being encouraged, he really stopped caring about marks and aimed to pass with Cs. Which he did with little effort.

He never really got terribly rebellious, however. Despite pulling a few pranks and the occasional talking back, Felix wasn’t terribly hard to discipline. His mother usually had an easier time though; the boy had always found himself relating to her better.

As a result, when the affair came out, he was absolutely mortified. Times didn’t get any easier when the former Ms. Blake announced she was leaving, moving out of state to live with her lover. For a while, Felix did intend to leave, but he ended up deciding to stay. His entire life had been built in Conifer, his close friends, spot on the school soccer and hockey teams, sister, everything was there. It was too much to bare losing.

The mutants, from the time they’d been discovered to now, haven’t impacted the boy so much. He goes on as usual, happily oblivious to the severity of the situation… for now.

Your Character’s Relationships:

Daisy Blake: Daisy was a good older sister to Felix during their younger years helped cement their friendship later on in life. Despite growing a bit more distant, they still maintain a good relationship.

Liam Lawson: Felix’s young age makes recollections of Liam very hazy at best. However, as children, the younger boy saw Liam as an older brother and always appreciated the Orange Skittles that were saved for him.

Chance Ansley : Being a lazy student, Felix’s marks are less than ideal. In order to stay on the school teams, he has to maintain a C+ standard, which currently eludes him. Signing up for a tutor, however, was enough to convince the principal to spare his position on the teams. Unknown to him, Chance a character he has only seen a few times in passing, will fill the role.

Other: (Anything else you want to add about your character. A song that represents them, where you see them in the future, any inspiration you had when making them, it’s all fair game.)

Pardon if my years and ages don't match up, I'm a bit tired ^^'

Character 1

Name: Katalin Blanch AKA Katty

Birthday and Age: 12th of September 1994 (17)

Are they Mutated?: Yes

Appearance: Clickeh (If ya dont want an image I can write it out for ya.)

Personality: Katty is quite calm and doesn't talk to strangers, only people she knows, however if communication is needed she will talk. However gain her trust and become her friend and she will slowly start talking more openly, she might even smile a few times or even laugh, but again, that is a rarity, even when with a friend. Ever since the eclipse Katty has become distant, even from some of her friends, she doesn't really care about anything anymore and tends to laugh at and cause people emotional pain. However she can be quite cold, and can harm another person phisically wihout blinking if her, a member of her family or a friend is in danger. Even though she does those things, deep down she doesn't want to, it's really only the Gengar genes that make her seem so horrible and twisted and she hopes she can either control this or find help from someone.

History: Katty had a normal upbringing and she had a good relationship with her older sister. She wasn't spolied but she still got her way a few times but not enough for her to think she could get anything if she asked. On her 16th birthday her sister left home, never to be seen again, she was still living in Conifer but Katty never saw her again, even though she tried many a time to find her. After the eclipse Katty started worrying that her sister would have gained powers like she had, and so continued to search for her sister. She had left home, not wanting her parents to deal with what she became and is trying to hide from whoever might be after her. She is hoping to find her sister more for the fact that she seems lost without her, and ever since the eclipse has hoped that her sister could save her from what she sees as a horrible reality.

Your Character’s Relationships:

Momo: Momo and Katty are sisters, Momo being the elder of the two. They aren't the best of friends but they aren't mortal enemies either, they have a sort of peace treaty between them. Even so, if the other sister is in trouble they will always try to help each other out, which is why Katty wants to find her older sister in the hopes of finding her ok, and in the hopes that Momo could help her in some way. Her sister is the only one that really knows Katty and ever since she left, Katty has felt lost and alone.

Michael Barret: Someone that she constantly saw in school, he was obviously popular and all the girls liked him, and, even though she doesn't like admitting it, she has had a crush on him for the last few years.

Other: She always carries a large drawing book and has her guitar with her constantly. I think this could be a good theme song

Altered Subsection
Pokemon: Gengar
Abilities: Being merged with a ghost type this gives Katty the power to act like an actual ghost. This envolves walking through thin walls, anything over 1 meter thinch she cant go through, and both telepathic and telekenetic abilities. Telekenetic powers are limited to small, light objects, she can lift heavier thhings, like a human, but this is incredibly tiring. She can also become invisible but only for short periods of time and this is very draining and she needs quite a bit of concentration to initially become invisible. She can also control her aura, manipulating it to be harmful or helpful.
(If still to much, I can still change it ^^)

So, you should know that the idea for these characters struck me at midnight last night while I was trying to go to bed. They wouldn't leave me alone until I wrote them down, so I ended up staying up past 1:30 AM xD Talk about a random spout of inspiration!!! LoL, I think it might have something to do with the season finale of Korra, but I"m still deciding... xDDDDDDD

BUT! I'm now super excited about this!!! :D Here's my charries...

*****

Name:
Chance Ansley

Birthday & Age: April 27th, 1996 (16)

Mutated?:
Yes

Appearance:
I’m not even going to deny the fact that Chance is practically Kyouhei, the male protagonist for BW2. Since the eclipse, Chance’s hair has grown at an alarming rate, and despite all the cutting and pruning he’s tried to treat his mane with, it keeps coming back with vengeance. So now, unfortunately, he has a wild mat of hair above his head, kept back only by a red visor he constantly wears. (Teachers will think it rude of him to wear a hat during class, but they will be much more considerate after seeing him sit through class with his wild chocolate-brown hair hang over his eyes.)

Other than his unfortunate hair-style, Chance looks like the average teenage kid, with a boyish face and keen brown eyes. Without all that hair stacked on top of his head, he’s a bit shorter than average. Blue is one of his favorite colors, which is evident in the selection of jackets he likes to wear. He usually wears a pair of faint-gray shorts, and is adamant about wearing them until the winter months finally roll over (usually he battles the weather until December). His school bag is just an average-looking messenger bag in which he stashes a stockpile of his favorite treat: M&Ms.

Personality: Chance is a really sweet guy. A little on the shy side, but he honestly enjoys good company. He isn’t one for talking about others behind their back, or getting entertainment at the cost of one’s dignity. He believes in being fair, and considerate of others. Because of his mildness people consider him to be a good friend, someone they can turn to without fear of judgment. Chance is also pretty intelligent, though his grades are less than perfect because of his lazy tendencies (he’s quite the procrastinator).

But behind this gentle, easy-going exterior, Chance is scared. Nothing’s been the same for him since the eclipse, and he’s deeply unnerved by the changes the mutations have wrought on his being. Though he tries his best to pretend to be a normal teenager, he hardly has a grip on his new-found powers over ice. It seems that whenever he’s experiencing some kind of fear-related emotions (nervousness, anxiety, worry), something ends up frozen. His best friend and foster-brother tries to look out for him, to help him fight for control, and though he appreciates the gesture, he has to wonder if it’s only a matter of time until something slips.

He’s afraid of losing control, or being captured. Most of all, he’s afraid of becoming a monster. And these fears only make his situation worse.

History: Chance was born in Utah but was raised mostly in Colorado. He only had one other sibling—an older sister named Nichole—but he cherished the family relationships he had. His father was a scientist, working for the government, and though he could be very busy at times he always made time for his family. Chance’s mother was a funny woman, still acting like a kid even up until her late 30s, but she was compassionate about her children and wanted to make sure they had the best life possible. She especially wanted them to know about kindness and respect for others.

When Chance was twelve, his father was assigned to a laboratory near Conifer to do some top-secret government work. He wasn’t allowed to discuss what was going on, but he was required to be away from home for a bit. That didn’t stop his wife and children from coming up to visit him, however. After a few months of him being away, the family drove up to Conifer for a short stay.

Chance’s mom dropped off the kids at a friend’s house while she went ahead to pick up Dad from work. The kids had a blast with her friend’s family, but they soon became too aware of how much time had passed since their mother drove away. What was meant to be an hour’s worth drive turned into four, then five. They were growing anxious at the prolonged absence. And then the news came.

There had been an accident at the lab. Mom and Dad were gone.

The tragedy had ripped a hold in Chance’s and Nichole’s hearts, introducing them to real fear and uncertainty for the first time. Though still in shock and grief, the two were forced to move on by the world around them. The government handed them over to foster care—ironically, they were transferred to Conifer. As time marched onward, they attended school, and became teenagers. For a while, they seemed numbed to the whole process, but after the pain came and left, Nichole and Chance came to realize that they shouldn’t be defined by the bad things that happened to them. The best thing they could do now was to carry on their parents’ legacy and enter the world as responsible adults someday.

When Nichole graduated, she went to college in Idaho. It was different, not having her around to watch his back, though she tried her best to stay in contact with him, despite the workload she had. Chance was doing his best at High School, keeping up his grades so he could later qualify for scholarships for his future. Everything felt normal to him…

Until the eclipse.

Relationships:
The only blood-relative Chance as (as far as he knows) is Nichole, who is currently attending a university in Idaho. He is currently being reared by a foster family—the Andersons, who are very kind and loving. Ted and Darlene are the parents of 2 children (Janice and Rachel), but have fostered 4 other children excluding Chance. Janice and Rachel have long since moved away, but Michael, Celeste, Thalia, Jacob, and Derek are still home—their ages ranging from 17 to 5 years old. It’s a big family, and a little hectic at times, but the Andersons feels like a real family. And to Chance, that’s all that matters.

Michael is around the same age as Chance, and they’re the best of friends (though Michael tends to act more like the overprotective brother at times).

Also, there’s this girl at school that Chance has had a crush on ever since moving to Conifer, and this is the year he is determined to finally get to know Alyssa Wolff.

Hoping to get a chance at meeting said girl, Chance has decided to overcome his lazy tendencies this semester of school and sign up to be a tutor. It took some convincing, but one of his teachers agreed to help him get a position. Unbeknownst to Chance, he's going to be paired up with Felix Blake--who happens to be one of Alyssa's friends. While he has seen the athlete around, and knows he's popular, Chance hasn't personally had a chance to get to know Felix (until now).

The Andersons live right next to Theodore ("Tin") Karma and his father. Each member of the Anderson family considers Tin a good friend, and are happy to invite him into their home.

Other:
Kyouhei’s hair is finally explained xD Anyhoot, here's a possible theme song for themes I hope will come out later in Chance's story line :3

Pokémon Gene: Piloswine

Abilities: Basically, he can freeze stuff—though he struggles to control those powers. As I mentioned, he tends to lose his hold over his abilities when nervous, scared, or worried. Chance is also resistant to cold temperatures. Fortunately, he lacks Piloswine’s pig-like nose, though he does have an unusually keen sense of smelling.

*****

Name: Michael Barret

Birthday & Age: September 2nd, 1995 (16)

Mutated?: No

Appearance:
Many girls at his school consider Michael’s serious exterior rather attractive, though he doesn’t try to flaunt it. Though his skin is a little on the pasty side, he makes up for it in his chiseled facial features. His curly black hair falls over smoldering, crystal-blue eyes. He dresses like a boy band member, pulling off the hipster look in a very clean and fresh manner. One can usually catch him wearing a black and blue keffiyeh (scarf), which is the only thing he has left from his mother. Michael doesn’t smile too often; he just gives the kind of half-smiles that make most girls melt. People either find his appearance intimidating or trendy.

Personality: The part of Michael that most people know is his serious, no-nonsense persona. If there’s a job to be done, then he gets it done in a straight-forward manner. He can’t stand injustices, and is very protective of those closest to him. His loyalty is evident to everybody, and folks know that he is reliable, responsible teenager. Yet there’s a side to Michael that only his friends get to see: a sly, fun side that revels in skateboarding and guitar. He enjoys chilling with friends, playing pranks (within reason), hitting the skate park, and so on. Michael can be gentle and considerate, given some time to understand.

Michael does have some issues with his temper. He can get a little boorish when angered; he’s certainly one to voice his opinion. As mentioned, he considers Chance his best friend and looks out for him like a big brother. Ever since the eclipse, he has been especially protective. He knows what Chance has become, and he has seen what has happened to some of Conifer’s mutants. He’s determined to prevent the same from happening to his little brother.

History: Michael had been with the Andersons for some time before Chance and Nichole came, and before that time he had become a rather bitter and ill-behaved kid. His real family had been destroyed by alcoholism and drugs. He couldn’t remember a time in his young life when his father hadn’t been drunk. Michael’s mother only put up with him because she was afraid of him; he always threatened her or, if he had been drinking enough, beating her. Michael hated seeing what was happening to her, though if he ever stood up for her, he would get beaten as well.

To escape from the pain of being with her husband, Michael’s mother turned to drugs. When he was 9 years old, she overdosed. She died, leaving him behind with an irate drunk. The drinking only became worse after her passing—though the violence slowly ceased. Michael wasn’t surprised when he didn’t return home one day. Instead of answering the door to his father, he was greeted by a police officer who informed him that his father was dead.

After that, Michael was passed into foster care. Finally free from his father’s tyranny, the anger the boy had kept bottled up finally surged forth with vengeance. His first foster family gave him up because he was unruly and unpredictably violent, picking on the other kids. The second foster family quickly gave up on him to. Then, he found his way to the Andersons. Unlike the others, the Andersons actually tried to love him. They saw past his anger and saw the hurt underneath. Though he could still be cruel to the Andersons’ other children, Michael began opening up.

Then they came. Some girl and a boy half a year younger than he was, who had lost their parents in some freak accident. They seemed so lost and despondent, but the Andersons welcomed them warmly to their home. Except for Michael. He resented the new arrivals. At least they had had a functional family before they came here. Why should they be so miserable, when he had suffered through beatings and abuse? He saw them as thieves, taking away the Andersons attention from him.

His anger towards the invaders amounted when Chance accidently broke one of Michael’s remote control helicopters. No one else was around, thus Michael lost all control. He yelled at chance, letting him know just how much he hated him before proceeding to punch and kick the poor kid. After a few blows, Michael stopped. Chance hadn’t even cried as he took the blows. He just sat there and stared desolately back, numb from all the tears that had already been spent on the loss of his parents. Chance was empty—perhaps even welcoming the physical abuse because the pain made him feel something other than loss.

In that moment, Michael could see himself reflected in those solemn brown eyes. He was overcome with horror as he realized what he had just done. He was no better than his own father.

Chance’s loss finally became real to Michael. Falling to the ground, Michael begged for forgiveness, crying the tears that Chance could no longer summon. Michael promised there and then that he would shed his bitterness. He would let go of the past, and embrace this second chance he had been given. He was not going to be his father’s son.

Since that day, the Andersons saw a remarkable change in Michael. He had suddenly switched from being the problem child to becoming an exemplified big brother. Chance never related what had happened that day, but he had forgiven Michael what happened. Since then, Michael has always been looking out for Chance and the other foster children.

Relationships: As far as he knows, Michael has no living relatives. However, he’s being fostered by the aforementioned Anderson family. Chance is his best friend, but also has a group of friends he hangs out with at the skate park: Luke, Joel, Kyle, Jessie (she’s a gal, just so ya know), and Preston. Recently, he’s been trying to form a band with his classmates, Tanner, Blake, and Sam (girl).

One of his closest friends is Jessie Moore--one of his skater buddies. When he first moved in with the Andersons, he formed a bit of a rivalry, but he became much more friendly to her after his change of character. She was also the first girl he kissed, though now they seem to be just friends.

Again, Tin Karma is a family friend to the Andersons, and Michael likes to keep an eye out for the boy.

Other: I've decided that I think Linkin Park's "What I've Done" is a good theme song for Michael :3

(Teachers once thought it rude of him to wear a hat during class, but they were much more considerate after seeing him sit through class with his wild chocolate-brown hair hang over his eyes.)

Other: I might be partial to “What do you want from me” by Adam Lambert as Michael’s theme song, but I’ll keep thinking about it xD
Whoo, I never imagined that a Piloswine mutate would show up! This is fantastic stuff, welcome aboard! -Reserved-

Hey, no problemo. The sign-ups are always going to be open, so when you're feeling better, they can jump right in.

I never would have imagined it either xD You can thank those late-night muses... And his hair... (Seriously, what's with this Unovan trend?) LoL, but thank you! :D I'm getting super excited about this idea!!! ^^

Now when you say the RP starts on August 26th, do you mean that that's the time-frame of the RP setting, or... is this RP really not starting till then? ^^'

Also, just reserved? :o Did I miss something?

The RP will hopefully start well before August 26th in our world, but that's the date that the events of our story will begin. And as to why it's only a reserve, and you're not the only one in that boat, you need to craft two relationship's with the characters of other RPers. Hopefully this will create a more interconnected world than the usual mishmash of people meet for the first time.
