Default The Hunger Games [SU/DS] (SUs closed for now)

Panem is a nation established during an unknown time period in a post-apocalyptic world. It is situated primarily on the western side of North America, and the Capitol is located in an area formerly known as the Rocky Mountains.

Panem was run by a single-party dictatorship that was led by President Snow before the second rebellion. It is portrayed to be the dominant society in North America, and no other nations or civilized societies beyond Panem have been mentioned, so it is unknown if any exist at all.

The name Panem derives from the Latin phrase panem et circenses, which literally translates into 'bread and circuses'. The phrase itself is used to describe entertainment used to distract public attention from more important matters. Furthermore, by the government providing ample food and entertainment, the citizens would give up their political rights.

In Panem, the rules were harshly enforced. After The Dark Days, a sadistic, annual event known as The Hunger Games was established.

An unspecified time before the current date, the year previously being 3041, the face of the Earth changed and modern civilization was seemingly destroyed. It is unknown precisely what caused the "end of the world", but major landmasses changed shape as the sea level rose to unknown heights around the planet. Some time after the end of the world as we knew it, a nation was established in North America that would soon come to be known as Panem. It is unknown precisely when Panem was established and how long it has existed, though it is certain that Panem has been around for more than a hundred and twelve years, and it's entirely possible for it to be at least two or three centuries old.

Panem eventually grew large enough that it was segmented into thirteen separate districts, each responsible for producing goods of a particular industry to serve the growing needs of the nation, and all operating under the auspices of Panem's oppressive Capitol. Its exact method of expansion is unknown; it is possible that some of the separate districts may have even once been smaller, separate nations that were eventually annexed by Panem.

Approximately a hundred and twelve years before the events of the current Hunger Games, the various districts of Panem rebelled against the Capitol, primarily due to the oppressive fashion in which the Capitol government ruled over the districts. It is unknown how long the rebellion lasted or the exact number of casualties on either side (although the Capitol claims that for every dead Capitol citizen, two rebels died), but by the end of the conflict, the Capitol had quelled the rebellion, defeating the thirteen districts.

In the wake of the rebellion, the Capitol established the Hunger Games, an annual event in which twenty-four children between the ages of twelve and eighteen, one boy and one girl from each District, are chosen from a lottery and entered into a gladiatorial competition where they must fight each other to the death until either only one remains standing or if only the pair from the same District are left. If only the pair from the same District remains, then they have both won.

The event served two purposes. The first was to demonstrate the overwhelming power the Capitol had over the districts by taking their children by force and forcing them to slay each other in a no-rules competition. It was proof that the Capitol's control over its people was so inexorable and unstoppable that they could do something so sadistic as to force the children of their conquered foes to slay each other in a battle royal. The second purpose was purely for entertainment. The Hunger Games are a nationally televised event in the same vein as a reality show, its entrants practically considered celebrities and the events themselves dramatized and glorified.

The Capitol is the biggest city in Panem and serves as the nation's central seat of government. It is located in an area formerly known as the Rocky Mountains and is surrounded by the thirteen outlying districts.

The free residents of the Capitol are generally considered the wealthiest (and most decadent) of all Panem, and the city's prosperity is fueled by the industries and forced labor of the districts beyond. While it is a major territory, it is not considered one of the thirteen districts. The people are most known for their "creative" outfits, and crazy sense of fashion, even to the extent of dying the color of their own skin, or even having whiskers implanted.

The nation of Panem is separated into a total of thirteen nation-states known as districts, all of which are recognized as operational by the Capitol, and each being solely responsible for producing, procuring, or refining goods in a particular industry as dictated by the Capitol. All of the districts are subject to the unrelenting will of the authoritarian Capitol, and have no known influence concerning the national politics of Panem beyond their own individual territories.

The districts barely interact with each other since it was illegal, so each district generally has a unique culture unaffected by the other districts which strongly influenced by the goods it produces. Welfare levels vary significantly, and are often dependent on the goods it produces; some districts, such as 11 and 12, are far more impoverished than wealthier districts like 1,2, and 4, though apparently no district is nearly as wealthy as the Capitol itself. Each District provides something different to the Capitol; for example, District 12 provides coal and District 4 provides fishing.

The Thirteen Districts:

~District One: District 1 is one of the thirteen districts of Panem. Its industry is making luxury items for the Capitol. Due to the nature of its industry, it's considered the wealthiest district, the only other wealthier area being the Capitol itself. It is considered a career district. Little else is known about this district.

~District Two: District 2's seal depicts a block of stone and carving tools. The district's public presentation is that of stone quarries, but it also manufactures weaponry, makes trains, and supplies Peacekeepers, which is another word for 'Guards'. The main military complex in the district is known as The Nut. Citizens of District 2 are sometimes called "the pets" of the Capitol. They are the biggest supporters of the Capitol and therefore are pampered and given many extra conveniences.

~District Three: District 3's primary industry is general electronics of many types, though it is known for also making various mechanical products such as automobiles and firearms. Thus, many of its residents are technically apt. It is not considered a Career district, though District 4 is.

~District Four: District 4's industry is fishing, thus most residents have experience using nets and tridents, making fishhooks from scratch, swimming, and identifying edible sea life. It is considered a Career district.

~District five: District 5's main industry is power and electricity. Therefore, this district is responsibly for generating the power of the entire nation. Some jobs include Plant security officer, Geologist, Equipment manager, System analyst, and Maintenance.

~District Six: District 6's industry is transportation.

~District Seven: District 7's industry is lumber and many of its residents have experience with hatchets, axes, saws, and other tree cutting tools.

~District Eight: District 8's principal industry is the production of textiles, and they have at least one factory that is primarily used for making Peacekeeper uniforms.

~District Nine: District 9's industry is grain. Little is known about this district.

~District Ten: District 10's industry is livestock. Not much is known about this district, but some known information is that its marriage rituals are similar to that of District 4's.

~District Eleven: District 11's industry is agriculture - orchards and fields of grain and cotton surround the district. Almost everything grown is shipped directly to the Capitol. It is one of the poorest districts in Panem, second only to District 12. In addition, it is also one of the districts where the Peacekeepers are the strictest. Ironically, this directly results in its residents generally being malnourished and underfed despite its focus on agriculture.

~District Twelve: District 12 is located somewhere near what was the Appalachian mountains. Its chief industry is coal mining. The district has the distinction of being one of the poorest districts, if not the outright poorest, in all of Panem.

~District Thirteen: District 13's industry is nuclear weapons.

Career Districts:

Many of the wealthier districts such as Districts 1, 2 and 4, known as "Career Districts", have a more positive orientation toward the Hunger Games. As residents do not generally face extreme poverty and malnutrition as is done in more impoverished districts, their tributes are generally healthy and strong. In these districts, it is not uncommon for children to volunteer to be tributes, as winning the Games is held in highest regard in these districts. Although it is against the rules of the Games, children in these districts are often specifically raised to participate in the Hunger Games, and thus are trained in the arts of combat and survival. Thus, they are typically known as Career Tribute, or "Careers" for short.

Reaping:

Every year, each District holds a reaping ceremony. Two large glass balls contain slips of paper with each child's first and last name. A child's name is entered each year for every year that they are eligible. The entries are cumulative, and each year another slip is added to the glass ball for the child's aging. Ex: At age 12 one slip has their name, at 13 two slips are added, and so on. By the time each child is 18, they must have a minimum of 7 entries in the glass ball. However, they can choose to add their name more times in exchange for tessera, which is a small ration of oil and grain. Each tessera has enough oil and grain to supply one family member with food for one year.

The District's representative/escort (eg. Sonya Karp for District 12) picks a name out of the balls, one of which is for girls and one for boys. The tributes whose names are chosen are then entered into the Games, unless someone is willing to volunteer - a normally quite rare phenomenon unless it is in one of the "Career Districts" (1, 2, and 4), Districts in which children have been training their whole lives to enter the Games.

When a victor comes home, they are no longer be eligible to participate in the Games even if they are still young enough to have their name drawn in the Reaping. The Reaping ceremony is also treated like a celebration to all Districts. The children dress up and sometimes given gifts to each other. They also tend to celebrate after the Reaping is over, except of course for the children who are chosen who are busy saying their goodbyes.

Tokens:

Each tribute is allowed one token from their District, to represent and remind them of home. They must not be able to be used as weapons. They are very carefully examined and checked for any hidden triggers. In the 74th Hunger Games, Glimmer, the female tribute from District 1, had her token, a ring, confiscated because it carried a hidden poisoned spike. Katniss's token was a golden pin given to her by Madge Undersee, showing a Mockingjay in the 74th Hunger Games. It was almost confiscated because some people believed that it could be used as a weapon. It is mentioned that several years prior to the 74th Hunger Games, one girl's token was a small wooden ball which she dropped while on her starting plate, activating the mine underneath her feet. Katniss said that "they literally had to scrape bits of her off the ground'.

Sponsors:

As tributes battle in the arena, quite often they can become helpless (ex. Peeta Mellark with blood poisoning). This is simply because of the Cornucopia bloodbath since the tributes are fighting over the items they need to win the Hunger Games. Many of the tributes are left with limited or no items they wanted from the Cornucopia. Wealthy viewers or groups of people can pool their funds and send items into the arena should a tribute need something, such as food, shelter, weapons, or medicine. In the 74th Hunger Games, Katniss received burn medicine and food - most notably a loaf of bread from District 11 that she assumes was intended for an ally named Rue before her death. Katniss is extremely touched by this unheard of gesture as never before has a tribute received a gift from another District.

Bloodbaths:

The bloodbath is what starts the excitement in the Games. On average, roughly half of the tributes die at the initial battle that takes place at the Cornucopia, near the starting point of the games. Spilling from the Cornucopia and strewn on the ground among the tributes are various items including weapons, food, water, and other supplies. Some tributes venture into the opening scramble for these valuable items, while others use it as part of their strategy for slaughter.

The Cornucopia:

The Cornucopia is a giant, golden horn, shaped like a cone with a curved tail. In each year's Hunger Games, the tributes launch into the arena and start off in a circular formation, equidistant to the Cornucopia. Its mouth is at least 20 feet high and is filled with items that could help the tributes survive in the Games such as weapons, clothing, fire starters, supplies, containers, water, food, blankets, and medicine. A lot of the deaths happen right in the beginning when the tributes fight each other to the death to get the best items.

Alliances:

Alliances are an important aspect of the Games, as tributes ensure their survival by having allies watch their back in the arena. Alliances generally break apart near the end of the Games so the members are not forced to kill each other after. A common alliance in the Games is the one between the Career Tributes of districts 1, 2 and 4, who work together to take down every other tributes until their alliance is all that remains, and then they rip each other apart, much to the pleasure of the Capitol. Alliances are most often formed between tributes that are from the same district.

Mentors:

A mentor is a victor of a past Hunger Games who must train subsequent tributes from their District. There are no gender restraints; a male victor can train a female tribute and vice versa. There can be two male mentors, both a male and a female mentor, or two female mentors, though usually there is one female and one male.

Though victors are not required to either go to school nor work in their District's industry, they are required to work as mentors who train their District's tributes that follow after them the rest of their lives.

Mentors prepare their tributes for life in the arena, give them tips on strategy and help prepare them for their public interviews. A mentor is also crucial in helping procure sponsors for their tributes as well as having the power over the gifts that go into the arena for their tributes and when they are sent in.

Each mentor lives in the Victors' Village, a small part of every District that is made especially for the victors of the games. The houses are luxurious and filled with goodies that the rest of the District's people do not have.

Happy Hunger Games! And may the odds be ever in your favor! Let the 112th Hunger Games begin!

My Sign Ups:
Name: Ashley Mellark
Age: 18
Gender: Female
What District you're in: District 12
Appearance: http://vampirediaries.alloyentertain...-22-finale.jpg
http://images2.fanpop.com/images/pho...84-800-604.jpg
http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m0...p2ojo6_250.png
Personality: Ashley is kind-hearted, very spirited and energetic girl, which sometimes clashes with the more stoic group members. Ashley can act child-like and playful in many ways when the moment is necessary. She tries to maintain a positive outlook and often refers to gloomy or annoying people as "boring people". Her cheerful outlook often makes a stark contrast, however, when she is sad or upset and despite her outwardly happy exterior, she seems to carry some insecurities, particularly when it comes to her own future.

These insecurities sometimes cause her to act jealously towards those that know their path or have obtained what they want out of life. When Ashley has to be serious though, she puts her child-like personality far back behind her and is ready for a fight. Once you get her mad, she lashes out like an uncontrolled tornado. Ashley is the kind of person that no one should mess with, because she will continue to fight until she wins. She appears very sweet and seductive on the surface, but her personality could change in an instant into someone who was impulsive and, at times, not very nice. Ashley only shows this side of herself though when she is around people she doesn't like, so most of the time she is a sweet girl.

Ashley's most prominent features though include her prodigious intellect and cleverness. She is levelheaded, book-smart and is very good with logic. She is often bossy yet unfailingly dutiful and loyal to her friends—a person that can be counted on. Ashley is the kind of person that never strays off the path; she always keeps her attention focused on the job that must be done. Despite Ashley's intelligence and somewhat bossy attitude, Ashley has quite a lot of vulnerability in her personality, as well as a sense of insecurity underneath. She feels utterly inadequate, and to compensate, she tries to be the best at everything she does, projecting a false confidence that can irritate people.

History: All of Ashley's life she has been living with considerable wealth and living in the affluent Victor's Village of District Twelve, Victor's Village being where the victors of The Hunger Games live from that District thanks to her parents, who both won the 74th Hunger Games. Even though Ashley has had money all of her life, she doesn't act like a spoiled brat, and even gives out charity to her District for those who truly need it.

Even though it is illegal to do, both Ashley and Jeremy sneak out of the electric fence that surrounds their District to protect them from wild animals, the pair hunting in the woods that was right outside the fence. They hunt animals and bring them to the Black Market, giving their catch to the traders and families who need the meat; Ashley and Jeremy are highly respected and liked from their District.

Another thing that is illegal to do is to train for The Hunger Games, though Katniss and Peeta sneak all three of their children to the woods anyways to prepare them encase their names ever get picked. This would be the last year that Ashley and Jeremy are eligible to get picked since they're both eighteen, so both Katniss and Peeta are praying that they'll luck out of it again this year. The only one they have to worry about is Kenny, who is thirteen years old and still has a few more years left to get picked.

When Ashley was just the age of fourteen however she had given birth to a beautiful baby girl named Aria, the father being two years older than Ashley. In the beginning of the pregnancy both Katniss and Peeta were furious with their daughter, but as time went by they knew they needed to support Ashley's situation and had learned to accept it. Shortly after Aria's second birthday however Ashley's fiance, William, had been picked at the Reaping for The Hunger Games, having died when there was only three Tributes remaining. Ashley and her family were devastated by the loss of William, Aria now having to grow up without a father. Ashley knew however that if she ever got picked for the Games then she would fight to stay alive for not only herself and family, but also for her daughter, refusing to let Aria grow up without either of her parents.

RP sample: Fells Church http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/foru...d.php?t=109265

Other: Is the daughter of Katniss Mellark and Peeta Mellark, who were both the 74th Hunger Games champions. Also younger twin sister of Jeremy Mellark, and has a four year old daughter.

Name: Jeremy Mellark

http://images4.fanpop.com/image/phot...83-500-281.jpg
http://images.eonline.com/eol_images....lc.020911.jpg
Personality: Jeremy is used to be the ladies man, his good looks always seemed to get him into trouble of some sort with girls. Jeremy can be pretty cocky at times and tends to get on people's nerves. His number one priority though is to keep an eye on his twin sister Ashley, their younger brother Kenny and their parents, protecting them from any harm that should ever come their way. He would die for them if he had to. A lot of the times when Ashley meets a boy and if Jeremy doesn't like him, then he will pretty much scare off the boy, which doesn't bother Ashley that much because she's always a magnet for scumbags. People don't want to mess with Jeremy because once you get him mad, all hell will break loose. If you're on his good side though, then he can be a fun loving guy who likes to joke a lot.

Jeremy can have quite a few different personalities towards different people though. If you catch Jeremy's bad side, he can come across as being quite arrogant at times. He is said to possess sociopathic tendencies, being absolutely charming one minute and extremely dangerous the next, showing no remorse for hurting people who have done something to make him mad. Jeremy enjoys toying with people and causing grief to those around him who he think deserves it. If you're on his good side though, Jeremy appears to be a little distant towards some people, though generally polite. He does his best to control his emotions most of the time. His sister, Ashley, is able to stir him to rage quite easily though if she wanted to, but she isn't that kind of person. People just have to be careful to not get on his bad side. If they stay on his good side, then everything will be peaceful.

History: All of Jeremy's life she has been living with considerable wealth and living in the affluent Victor's Village of District Twelve, Victor's Village being where the victors of The Hunger Games live from that District thanks to her parents, who both won the 74th Hunger Games. Even though Jeremy has had money all of her life, he doesn't act like a spoiled brat, and even gives out charity to his District for those who truly need it.

Even though it is illegal to do, both Jeremy and Ashley sneak out of the electric fence that surrounds their District to protect them from wild animals, the pair hunting in the woods that was right outside the fence. Name: Caroline Hawthorne
Age: 17
Gender: Female
What District you're in: District 4
Appearance: http://images3.wikia.nocookie.net/__...roline1233.jpg
http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m5...p39oo1_500.jpg
http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-TWBpbDevnJ...5aio1_1280.jpg
Personality: Caroline is a loyal, supportive friend, someone who would do anything for those she cares about. Caroline is fiercely protective and will always help someone who needs her. She is also fun-loving and popular with the boys in her District. She appears to have a tendency to worry a lot, especially where her family is concerned.

Another personality Caroline has is that she’s the kind of person who uses her looks to get what she wants. Caroline is described as being very beautiful, which darkens others with thirst and lust for her. She has natural blonde hair and bright sapphire eyes that also darken people with thirst for her. Sometimes Caroline can be seen cool and cold by her appearance. She is portrayed as rather vain about her looks, and has no problem using her beauty to get what she wants. Caroline does care about others, but only if she’s close with them like her friends and family. She will do everything that she can to make sure she gets what she wants as well. Caroline appears very sweet and seductive on the surface, but her personality could change in an instant into someone who was impulsive and, at times, not very nice, just like Ashley.

Also being brazen and brave, Caroline is strong and determined much like her own parents. She is extremely loyal and protective of her friends. She also has a sensitive and loving nature as well. In the start of her teen years, despite having a confident exterior underneath it all, Caroline was just insecure. Caroline felt a recurring sense of insecurity. That tended to make her an overachiever at times, creating flaws and complexities in her personality, leading to various matters that factor into her development as she overcomes them. Especially when it came to some girls from her District, as she always felt she was in their shadow. Overtime, Caroline overcame these insecurities and became more confident in herself. Now that Caroline is older she sees the world in a different light, and she matured as well. She became much more strong-willed; Caroline became much more responsible and protective.

History: Even though Caroline was popular with the boys in her District, her family was semi poor, though Caroline is able to put food on the table since she swims in the ocean almost all day and catches fish with her bare hands. Caroline had an older brother who was only a year apart, though last year in the Hunger Games his name had been picked in the Reaping. Caroline wanted to take her brother's place so badly but she wasn't able to, each day watching her brother on their tv fight for his life. It came down to the final two tributes, Caroline's brother and an eighteen year old male from District two. They had put up a very good fight, though Caroline's brother had died, devastating both the family and District in sorrow.

Caroline takes it day by day with the death of her only brother, finding it harder and harder to continue on as she always thinks about him. She hated the Games so much, wishing that they would just disappear so other families wouldn't have to go through what her and her parents are going through. Caroline always tells herself that if she gets picked during the Reaping then she's going to do whatever it takes to win, knowing that she needs to win for both her family and her brother.

RP sample: Fells Church http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/foru...d.php?t=109265

Other: Is the daughter of Rikki Hawthorne and Gale Hawthorne, Caroline being an only child now. Gale was actually best friends with Ashley's mother Katniss when they were teenagers and tried to win Katniss' heart, causing a huge rivalry to develop between Gale and Peeta. In the end Katniss chose Peeta, and Gale moved away, his and Katniss' friendship pretty much disappearing.

Kei7137

Name: Michael Knight

Age: 17

Gender: Male

What District you're in: District Two

Appearance: http://i1085.photobucket.com/albums/...g?t=1343856871
(Without the sword, unless heís allowed to have it xD)

Personality: Michael is a very friendly and energetic person. He enjoys the company of other people, being the type that can easily make friends, and canít stand being alone. His upbeat personality tends to become annoying to any stoic members of the group, since there is rarely ever a time when Michael is unhappy. Because of his high energy level, he sometimes talks a lot, and cannot seem to stay still for very long. However, despite his optimism and energy, Michael is also easily annoyed and very stubborn.

Even though he is a sweet person, it doesnít take much at all to set Michael off, although itís extremely easy to calm him back down. A lot of people describe him as childlike, which he is, but Michael certainly knows when and how to be serious. He will never back down from a challenge or a battle - especially if someone he cares about is involved. Being extremely loyal to his friends and family, Michael will do anything to protect someone he cares about.

History: Michael was born and raised in District Two along with his younger sister, Mikayla. Despite the district that he comes from, Michael hates the Capitol with a passion. Even as a child, he always thought that the way they ruled over everything was unfair, and that the Hunger Games were cruel. However, he never voiced much concern about it during his childhood, simply enjoying the days he had with his sister and his parents. Life was easy for most of his years, and despite the cruelty of the Capitol, Michael had no real complaints.

However, when Michael was fifteen, and his sister only fourteen, Mikayla was chosen as the female tribute from their district. Michael offered his own cooperation to try and stay by his sisterís side to protect her, but unfortunately someone else had already volunteered before him. Despite his protests to his parents and even the Capitol, Michael was denied entry into the Games and thus Mikayla had to go on her own and was killed in its midst. This event left Michael with even more hatred for the Hunger Games and the Capitol, and even turned him against his own parents for not putting up a fight. He always despised how loyal they always were to the Capitol, even though it was obvious it was only for the conveniences they received for it.

After Mikaylaís death, Michael began training for the Games on his own, despite it being illegal to do so. He wanted to make sure that if he was ever picked, he would be ready for it. His relationship with his parents is still bad after two years, but he has slowly begun to come to terms with what happened to his sister, and is trying to let it go. However, his hatred for the Games and for the Capitol still burns passionately, and he does in no way intend to allow them to rule over his life. Michael does a good job at hiding his pain through his cheerful personality, leaving everyone completely fooled when it comes to his rebellious attitude toward the Capitol. However, Michael will certainly not hesitate to make his opinion on the situation known, and is not afraid of the consequences.

Other: Skilled in swordsmanship due to his training.

Name: Ichiru Kagami

Age: 18

Gender: Male

What District youíre in: District Three

Appearance: http://oi46.tinypic.com/dwxwz8.jpg

Jet black hair comes down to the nape of his neck in a ruffled mess, and his bangs come down just past his nose, swaying to the left and almost always covering his eye. His eyes themselves are a piercing emerald green, which stand out against his dark hair and pale skin. He has two piercings at the top of his left ear, as well as a lip piercing; a simple silver stud on his bottom lip that he rarely bothers to take out.

Personality: Ichiru is very calm and collected, and normally keeps to himself. He really only interacts with people he knows, although heís not exactly unfriendly. He can come off as a bit distant sometimes, and maybe a little harsh, but he knows when to keep his mouth shut in order to prevent hurting someone. He doesnít really like to show his emotions, choosing to remain emotionless in most cases, although heís really a sweet and caring person under his rough exterior. He is annoyed quite easily, although it takes a lot more to actually anger him. However, if he is angered, Ichiru can and occasionally will grow violent. Although he isnít very trusting, Ichiru, like his brother, is very loyal to anyone who happens to become one of his friends.

Ichiru doesn't like authority at all, being the type that likes to do what he wants when he wants. However, he will oblige to what he's told if it's reasonable or mandatory. He tends to clash with the leaders of a group a lot of the time, if he doesn't particularly like them, although depending on the situation he will try to adjust his attitude in order to get along with them. Since he analyzes the consequences of his actions before he does them, Ichiru can easily adapt his attitude to get along with or work alongside someone even if he doesn't like them. However, when it comes to Kiseki or anyone else he cares about, he can be extremely reckless and doesn't tend to think much about what he does before he does it.

History: Ichiru and Kiseki were raised along with their younger sister Kotomi in District Four. They were never the wealthiest family around, but they still managed to keep themselves on their feet. Throughout their childhood, the twinsí father, James, would go out and catch fish in the lake to put food on the table, teaching the boys how to do so as well once they were old enough to try. They managed to live pretty normal lives despite the Capitolís rule over things and the Hunger Games themselves. It seemed as though the family was perfect on the outside; the children behaved like angels, the parents were kind and loving, and everyone had close bonds with each other. However, the reality of the twinsí lives was quite different. Behind closed doors, James was a horrible parent. He showed favor to Kotomi, who was the youngest, but he was horrible to the twins. Originally he had been the loving father that everyone still thought he was, but somewhere along the line he had turned to drinking, and his alcoholism began to change his personality.

Thanks to Isobel, they never received actual physical abuse, but the mental and emotional abuse he gave them was just as bad. His unexplained anger was mostly taken out on Ichiru, who was the only one who would rebel - and did so enough for the entire family put together. However, in the presence of visitors or the town, you would have never guessed such chaos took place in their home, for everyone hid it perfectly.

Each year the family would watch the Games on television, and when they were younger, Ichiru and Kiseki thought it was merely fake stunts pulled by actors for entertainment. However, as they grew older, they began to realize the truth about what the Games were and how cruel it was.

When Ichiru and Kiseki were fourteen, a girl with whom both of them had become close to named Amber was chosen for the Games. Neither Ichiru nor Kiseki were picked, and much to both twinsí dismay, their parents would let neither of them volunteer to stay by her side. Amber was killed shortly after the games started, the loss devastating both twins - especially Ichiru, who had had a very close bond with her. Although Kiseki still interacted with other people their age, Ichiru began to close himself off to others, having become afraid to get close to anyone else with the possibility of losing them as well.

After the death of Amber, tension began to develop within the family. For reasons unknown to the rest of them, James still supported the Capitol even after the event and knowing everything that was really going on. He thought it was mere entertainment and nothing to be concerned about. Ichiru and Kiseki couldnít believe how heartless their father was toward the death of one of their closest friends, and slowly began to resent their father - especially Ichiru, who had never been on good terms with him to begin with.

The tension that had been hidden in the household for all of the previous years slowly began to rise and worsen with this issue, eventually leading James and their mother, Isobel to get a divorce. The twins were split up in the chaos, although Jamesí original choice was to take Kiseki and Kotomi, Ichiru refused to allow his younger siblings to be alone with the older man and was taken by himself to District Three while Kiseki and Kotomi remained in District Four with Isobel.

It has only been a year since Ichiru and James left, and the bond between the two is no better - only worse. They never really speak to each other, and when they do itís shortened to only a few words. Ichiru never stays home long enough to the older man to insult or mentally/emotionally abuse him any longer, keeping himself busy with studying and finding means for food constantly. He hates having to live with the man who caused so much chaos for his family, but he feels relief in knowing that Kiseki, Kotomi and Isobel can all live peacefully now.

Over the year that he has lived in District Three, Ichiru decided to put his focus on learning about electronics and firearms in order to take his mind off of the worries and anger. In District Four, Kiseki has taken on the responsibility to catch fish for the family to eat, and is sometimes accompanied by Kotomi. He worries about Ichiru being alone with James, but knows that he has to focus on keeping his family safe and fed. All any of them can hope now is that none of the teenagers are picked for the Games.

Other: Kisekiís older twin

Name: Kiseki Kagami

Age: 18

Gender: Male

What District youíre from: District Four

Appearance: http://oi46.tinypic.com/1zh1ik8.jpg

Kiseki is the mirror image of his brother, with jet black hair that falls down to the nape of his neck which is always a ruffled mess. His bangs come down a little past his nose and sway to the right, rather than the left, normally covering his right eye. His eyes are a piercing emerald green, and normally can portray any emotion he is feeling with ease. His skin is a shade darker than Ichiruís, although still on the pale side, and is smooth and blemish-free.

Personality: Kisekiís personality is more or less summed up as a Ďball of endless energyí. The complete opposite of his brother, he is a very friendly and energetic person, and loves to make new friends. Although he is very smart, Kiseki can be somewhat clueless and/or dense at times. Heís a bit emotional - possibly too much so for a guy, but that just makes him all the more loveable. He isnít angered easily at all, and even when he is, itís easy to calm him back down. He doesnít particularly like to fight, even though he is extremely stubborn. However, if the situation calls for it, he will.

Although Kiseki has a very forgiving and sweet nature, if his trust is betrayed, it can be extremely difficult - if not impossible to get it back. However, with loyalty being one of his strongest traits, Kiseki would never abandon someone who needed help - even if it was a stranger. He hates to see others in pain, be it physically or emotionally and is willing to do anything in his power to help them.

History: See Ichiru's SU.

Other: Ichiruís younger twin

all three are accepted and yes, Michael can have a sword but the tributes aren't allowed to bring any kind of weapon into the arena. there are weapons already inside the arena for the tributes to fight over, like swords, knives, axes and so on. so if Michael can get his hands on a sword then thats perfectly fine

Please put me down for a reserve for the male tribute for District 11. Also, I'm assuming that this is taking place in an alternate timeline, and if so, where does the break occur?

Sign-Up #1
Name: Victus
Age: 16
Gender: Male
What District you're in: Eleven
Appearance: Victus is a large specimen for his age, or any age really. He stands at six foot four, although his poor posture can create the illusion that he's a still-impressive six feet. Coupled with his length in setting him apart from the usual citizen of District Eleven is Victus's musculature. Despite the near starvation level of rationing, Victus has built himself up to possessing roughly the same raw power as a tank through his constant work in the fields. Every part of Victus's body ripples with muscles; he might even be considered attractive if it weren't for his flaws. If Victus somehow developed the desire to crush someone's skull between his palms, there would be little one could do to stop him. Victus's physicality is not limited to brute force though, he has an incredible level of endurance as well. Despite his meandering style of walking, Victus is capable of running several miles without stop, although that isn't a skill that can be practiced in District Eleven without attracting the wrong kind of attention.

With his muscles and bald head, Victus could be mistaken as an aspiring Peacekeeper. But when someone looks with more attention than that expended in a glance, they see the milky hue of Victus's blind right eye and the dull gaze in his working golden-brown left eye. Physical limitations aside, Victus's mass of scars also mark him as someone who's gotten on the wrong side of the authorities more than once. His massive arms are covered in faded bruises, old burns, and a criss-cross of scars. The parts of him that are covered are just as bad; Victus's back has suffered more whippings than that of any other citizen of District Eleven in recent memory. Yet he still walks, still lives, if what he suffers can be considered living.

Finally, Victus's outfit consists only of the standard-issue white shirt, now dirty and ragged, and brown shorts, the longest available, but still not extending far past Victus's kneecaps. Though he only owns one set of clothing at a time, Victus's constant imprisonments before his public beatings keep him supplied with more-or-less fresh new clothing before the current one can be worn out. Like most of the inhabitants of District Eleven, Victus goes barefoot everywhere, shoes being a luxury far beyond his grasp.

Personality: Victus is mentally retarded, which isn't a rarity in District Eleven's brutalized and malnourished population. No, what makes Victus unique is that he has had this disablility and survived this long. That's what he is, a survivor. The punishment he takes is physically bearable, but the widespread hatred of the citizens of District Eleven have made Victus distraught and depressed. But he cannot express his loneliness, and even if he could, Victus has no one with whom to share his feelings. So his sadness has finally manifested as a death wish. Victus did not enter the Hunger Games for fame or wealth, but as the best way to escape his fate. The massive teenager actually possesses a kind heart, but his sympathy and generosity are all-too often rejected by the recipients of it.

Victus wasn't fazed by this, but the constant reinforcement of his own worthlessness has destroyed his will to change. He lives his life in a never-ending cycle with few variations. The only end to the wheel of isolation and frequent beatings is through death. But Victus doesn't want to go quietly, no, his end needs to be a vindication of his existence, a reaffirmation of his humanity. Considering his pacific tendencies, self-defense and protecting someone he views as needing his help will likely be the only ways to get Victus to actually fight in these games.

History: Victus has always been alone. He was found on the streets of District Eleven and taken to a group home to live with the children of the many casualties that the harsh life of harvesting claimed. The only clue to his parentage was a silver necklace with an amulet that read "Invictus". Though the trinket was pawned off very quickly by a caretaker, the word became this orphan's name, shortening to Victus because it was easier for him to pronounce. The difficulty with his name, and the uselessness of his right eye were the only outward signs that this child was different. But when working with the other children, Victus always had more difficulty understanding directions, though his physical strength allowed him to finish the job easily once it was phrased to him in a simpler manner. Victus was isolated, shunned by the other children for his seeming stupidity. Even the younger arrivals at the orphanage would taunt him to his face, despite the great care that he showed them. Victus was provided with a small settlement and a full-time job in the fields at the age of twelve, two years later than the orphanage's normal policy.

Growing food, Victus still didn't connect much with others. Any attempts to be friendly were few and far-between, abandoned in favor of ignoring the strange, mute boy. His work in the fields made Victus grow strong and the repitition of his work was all he knew. What he had in extra rations, he would leave at the orphanage, unaware of the contempt that he was treated with. It was the same all through District Eleven, Victus's reputation as a retarded oaf spread quickly. One might think that this contempt would lead to Victus quickly being chosen or volunteered for the Hunger games, but in fact Victus was kept from the games until this year. The local leaders and, more importantly, their superiors in Capitol thought that having a retard compete in the games would dishonor the games and encourage the funneling of less-than-desirable contestants. That was why Victus was not only the only eligible male in District Eleven without a single name submitted for the Reaping.

Those in power thought that their problem was solved, but they neglected to cut Victus off from the games completely. As such, he watched every year with awe and wonder as twenty-four teenagers battled one another to the death. By the time of the one-hundred-and-twelfth Reaping, his mind was made up. He wasn't immune to the cold shoulder that the entire District was giving him, and wanted out of the lonely life that he was living. Yes, the Games were brutal and uncompromising, but the possibility of an alliance, or even a friendship, with another tribute was very appealing to Victus. So he went to sign-up for extra rations, the only way he could possibly get his name into the Reaping, though he had no idea. After watching others make their requests for additional rations of Tessera, it was Victus's turn. When asked how many times he wanted to submit his name, Victus said the largest number he could think of: One million. Of course, there wasn't that much Tessera in stock, but they gave Victus what was left. After loading it all into two carts that he pulled with one hand each, Victus dropped them off at the orphanage.

On the day of the Reaping, Victus was selected as the male tribute, much to the chagrin of District Eleven's mayor. Nobody volunteered to take his place, and despite pouring over the rules, there was no legitimate reason to disqualify him. Across Panem, Victus was treated as a joke, an essential forfeiture on District Eleven's part, but he didn't plan on winning. Victus planned on dying.

Sign-Up #2
Name: Auram Ubralles
Age: 16
Gender: Female
What District you're in: Two
Appearance: Auram is lithe and athletic from a lifetime of training for the Hunger Games. She has rust-colored hair, kept in a pixie cut to ensure that it can't be used against her. Her green eyes are playful when she smiles, but calculating when she's not.

She wears a light spring jacket over a plain, sleeveless black top just as Auram hides her real personality from the world at large. Her pants are also black and contain several pockets for keeping equipment close. Finishing her outfit is a pair of steel-toed boots, a luxury that Auram's family is high enough in District Two's social ladder to afford.

Personality: Auram is a sociopath, possessing no sense of common human morals or decency. But she's deceiving, and that's what makes her dangerous. Outwardly, Auram is friendly and chipper, a happy girl who didn't deserve to be shipped off to the Hunger Games. She is quick to start up a conversation and has a perennial sunny disposition. If things aren't looking their best, Auram is eager to look on the bright side and cheer others up as well. But that's only the mask she wears, underneath, Auram sees every other living thing as a pawn and a possible source of entertainment. Whether it's breaking hearts or cutting throats, Auram has no qualms against hurting other people as long as she is enjoying herself. Self-preservation and entertainment are her only concerns, the bonds of friendship and blood mean nothing to her if the chips are down or if it's be good for a laugh.

As far as talents go, Auram is incredibly adept at causing harm with the most ordinary and mundane of tools, but prefers fire. Her pyromania developed during her house arrest and was actually one of the most compelling reasons for her to continue being a tribute. What the Capitol doesn't suspect though is that Auram has no affinity to them, despite her District. But she also has no great hatred for them. Auram's only loyalty is to herself, and her perfect world would be an anarchistic dog-eat-dog nightmare. Auram is a wild-card, an agent of chaos.

History: Auram was raised to be a Career. Her great-grandfather was a victor in the Hunger Games, and it was a family tradition that the first-born child always be trained to be a participant in the Hunger Games. As such, Auram grew up with unlimited access to all of the resources needed to become a lethal force of nature. But when she was twelve, the unexpected happened. The psychologists that her parent hired were content to just chalking her up as a bad seed, but a life of privilege and training to disregard human lives had turned Auram Ubralles into a sociopath. From the various weapons she had been provided with and common household objects, the girl had crafted multiple bombs and distributed them around the district. Four people died and two dozen more were injured. Her family's connections were good enough to shift the blame to some underground remnant of the rebellion, but they couldn't stop Auram from being placed under house arrest and observed very carefully. Her parents were now afraid of their daughter, but they continued to train her to be a Career.

Four years of intensive training later, Auram had convinced the guards who were supposed to watch her that she was no threat. They were so convinced that she wasn't dangerous that, on the day of the Reaping, the two soldiers on duty watched the opening ceremonies before the choosing of Tributes more than they watched her. It was a terrible mistake. Using her great-grandfather's foil, Auram killed both men and fled the house, using the distraction of the Reaping as a cover for her escape. But she wasn't leaving the district, she was heading straight for the crowd of people gathered for the Reaping. When the male tribute's name was called, as was traditional, one boy, agreed on by the other Career families, volunteered to take their place. But when the female tribute's name was drawn, Auram's voice joined that of the pre approved volunteer. The crowd parted and the two girls saw each other. Another drawing was convened with just two names in the running. Even as the Peacekeepers were making their way to District Two's central square, Auram was chosen to be the female tribute.

Rather than lock this unstable girl up, Auram was allowed to enter the Hunger Games because it was believed that her callous disregard for life would make this year's games much more exciting. Pulling her out of the games would have also required reasoning and could potentially have revealed Auram's past crimes. The organizers were much more concerned about the credibility of the Hunger Games than with the reprecussions of allowing a proven killer into the games.

Default Re: The Hunger Games

I'd like to reserve the Male and Female from District One.

EDIT: Oh, and also the Males from District Nine and Ten.
Kei7137

Name: Keiru Kozaka
Age: 18
Gender: Male
What District you're in: One
Appearance: Minus the guns obviously.
He stands at a height of six foot six inches, his hair a cross between black and red in colour and his eyes are crimson.

Personality: He's the silent but deadly type, preferring his actions to speak for him. He relishes in making others suffer at his hands, in fact, he receives pleasure and enjoyment out of it, and he is comparable to a lunatic murderer. However, he does not lack the smarts to formulate plans that most lunatics would lack, as he is a very intelligent person. He looks down on all those around him, seeing them all beneath him in terms of strength and equality, and it is very rare for him to respect anybody, as he sees them as mere puppets for his amusement. The only person that he shows positive emotions towards is his sister, Amelia. She is the one person in the world he cares about and will do anything to protect.

Keiru was not always a maniac, he had at a time actually been sane, but an event in his past destroyed his very sanity, twisting him into the malformed, maniacal beast he is today. He is not one to be easily angered, however, his attitude can make others think he is angry when in fact he is not, as he usually adopts an aggressive tone. Keiru is essentially cold hearted, not caring for any other besides his sister, and he will show no mercy to his enemies, or even his friends. He is one that would prefer to work alone when completing tasks, but knows when teamwork is essential for the completion of a task, and he will stop at nothing to acquire that teamwork, even if he has to force those that would be working with him to do so. If anything were to happen to his sister, he would slaughter whoever harmed her, taking it upon himself as his duty to do so.

History: Keiru was born to a rather wealthy and well-known family in District One, owners of the Kozaka Corporation within District One, one of the most prosperous companies that was the envy of all those around. Keiru took a heavy interest in the art of swordsmanship, though he was never allowed access to anything beyond a wooden sword, and he practiced hours on end, honing his skills. As he grew up, he looked after his sister, since their parents were rarely ever home, busy taking care of the company rather than fulfilling their duty as parents. When Keiru was 9, he was taught how to use a bow by a friend of his father, but he never took an interest in using a bow, and the training of how to use a bow soon ended.

When Keiru was 15, he left his sister alone at their house to go training. Upon returning, he found the house broken into, and he was set upon by several men when he called out for his sister. When he awoke, the scene before him destroyed his sanity forever. He managed to break free of his restraints, and mercilessly and brutally attacked the men, reducing them to bloody pulps. He blamed himself for what had happened to his sister, and increased his training, in an attempt to make himself unbeatable, and he also moved his training back to the house, so he wouldn't leave his sister alone. Whilst Keiru had been emotionally and mentally scarred by what happened to Amelia, she seemed to not have been damaged anywhere near the extent he had. The men were taken to hospital, beaten within inches of death, and Keiru was arrested, and served a year in prison, before being released.

When his sister was called up for the Hunger Games, he volunteered almost instantaneously, having promised himself that he would not let anything happen to his sister ever again, even if it cost him his own life.

RP sample: Hopefully this old thing is sufficient
Other: Very heavily skilled in Swordsmanship(more skilled with a wooden sword than a proper sword due to his more extensive use of a wooden sword), is able to use a bow well enough, but is no expert with a bow.

Name: Amelia Kozaka
Age: 17
Gender: Female
What District you're in: One
Appearance: Minus the "wings"
She stands at a height of six foot two inches, her eyes are crimson in colour.
Personality: Amelia is a considerate and caring person, who does not take enjoyment out of causing suffering upon others, a stark contrast of her brother. She does not like killing others, and she despises the Hunger Games, and could be said to be anti-Capitol, an odd thing to find in members of District One. She adores her brother greatly, looking up to him as a father figure due to their father having never been around when they were growing up, and trusts him greatly. She isn't one to be easily angered, except if her brother is being ridiculed or harmed, then her anger snaps almost instantly.

She will do anything to protect those that are close to her, as she cares deeply for her friends. Though she does not enjoy harming others, this does not prevent her from doing what is necessary to survive. When angered, she is a completely different person. In this angered state, she is a vicious and unrelenting force that will stop at nothing to destroy those that have angered her, and she becomes merciless, much like her brother. The only thing that can bring her out of this angered state is her brother.
History: Growing up, Amelia was alone with her brother, who became somewhat of a father figure to her since their parents were away managing the business, not caring for their children. Amelia, much like her brother, took up training with a sword, however, she did not prosper as well as her brother did with using a sword, though she managed to progress to a good level, she was nowhere near the level of which her brother was at. As she aged, she came to despise the Capitol for what it did to the Districts through an event called the Hunger Games, seeing it as cruel and evil, as it not only caused the deaths of many young people, it also tore apart families.

When Amelia was 14, her brother had left her home alone as he had to go training his sword skills, their house was broken into by unknown men, who attacked her as well as her brother when he finally returned home, before desecrating her body. Her brother awoke, and mercilessly attacked the men, leaving them all brutally beaten to a pulp, and hospital-bound. Her brother was clearly scarred by what had happened, but Amelia showed no signs of having been damaged by what had happened, at least not until her brother had returned from serving his prison sentence. Their parents had contacted her, demanding she move away from her brother, because he was some kind of monster, according to her parents, at which point she snapped, attacking the men sent to take her away from her brother, and fled, returning to her home, in her state she tore the house apart, and was eventually calmed down when her brother returned and consoled her. She refused to abandon her brother, and as such her parents disowned her along with her brother, though her brother still has no knowledge of this.
Other: Skilled with a sword.

Name: Christian Wright
Age: 13
Gender: Male
What District you're in: Nine
Appearance: Here
He is five foot two inches in height.
Personality: Christian is a coward, putting it simply. He tries to avoid fights as much as possible, preferring to use his agility to avoid anybody, hoping they will give up or make a mistake. He is not one to make friends easily, as he was a loner growing up in District Nine. He despises the Capitol, because of what they did to his family, and he wants revenge, but he doesn't know how to seek this revenge as he doesn't want to fight if it can be avoided.

He is not one that can be angered easily, and he rarely speaks, as he seems to be a rather shy person. He does not like being the center of attention. Though he despises the Capitol, he had originally enjoyed watching the Hunger Games, as they were very entertaining in his view, at least until what happened to his family. He does not trust others easily, due to having been alone for his childhood, he has developed an attitude that he will work alone. He dislikes interacting with other people, due to his lack of trust of others through a childhood of being bullied.

History: Christian was born to a poverished and over-worked family that could barely sustain itself working the grain fields as the Capitol took what little they gathered for itself. He was forced to work in the grain fields from the early age of four since his family was struggling to feed itself and needed more working hands. Because he had to work in the fields, he was not able to go to school as the years went by, and thus became a social pariah, as the other kids avoided him, seeing him as a weird person, having been working from such a young age. The other kids regularly sought to pick on him, scrapping with him, causing him to try and avoid fights as much as possible, and begin to hate those around him.

When he was eight, his older sister, who he had tirelessly worked alongside and bonded with over the years, was drawn from the "lot" of the Hunger Games, and died. Within a few weeks, his family's situation grew worse and worse with the loss of one of their workers, as well as others who were now too old to work in the grain fields, and they were no longer able to meet quotas. The Peacekeepers mercilessly beat his family, making them an example to the other workers to meet the quotas. His father tried to resist, and was killed by the Peacekeepers. Because of all this, Christian swore revenge, but he had no idea how he was going to gain this revenge. When he was 13, he finally came up with an idea, he would enter the Hunger Games, and bring about its downfall, along with the Capitol, and thus volunteered as tribute.
Other: N/A

Name: Brandon Lockhart
Age: 16
Gender: Male
What District you're in: Ten
Appearance: Here.
He is six foot in height.
Personality: Brandon is cruel and sadistic, enjoying causing pain and suffering to those around him. He is not one to make friends easily, or to work with others, preferring to work alone, as he has done for his entire life, since he was a social outcast. Though he views the Hunger Games as an event of pure fun for him, he despises the Capitol, as he believes that the Capitol is restricting the amount of fun that everybody could be having if they were all a part of a much grander Hunger Games where they had to fight for survival everyday. He wants to bring down the current rulers of the Capitol and take over, enforcing a much more open and grander Hunger Games with a far greater number of participants.

He is merciless, not afraid to cut you down if you get in his way, even if you happen to be his friend. He enjoys aggravating those around him to the extent that they seek to bring harm to him and then enjoys beating them down, seeing it as some sort of game, and because of this he could be considered to be insane, though Brandon would argue that it is those that do not agree with him that are in fact the insane ones, and that he is the sane one.
History: Brandon's family were well-off retired livestock farmers, having made a rich living in terms of District Ten off of the livestock to the extent that they didn't have to work anymore. Brandon had grew up living a normal life for the first few years, and was close to his older brother and sister, playing with them, being protected by them, everything a normal child would do, until his older brother and sister were forced into the Hunger Games, whereupon they died. Brandon's personality and sanity were twisted by what had happened to his brother and sister, who he had bonded to as he grew up. This affected his father too, who began to secretly train Brandon in the art of sword fighting. Brandon never really did well through this training, until he accidentally discovered his father's Katana, with which he flourished in using, and thus his father began to train him in the art of using a Katana.

Over the years he grew more experienced with using a Katana, but his normal childhood suffered, as he did not go to school like normal children, instead training everyday, and soon became a social outcast. He did not care, nor did not notice that he had changed from being a normal child, to a freak in the eyes of other children. Though it probably didn't help that he attacked any kids that tried to converse with him, and those that he did not attack he secretly tortured, finding enjoyment out of doing so. Though he found the Hunger Games fun, he was actually forbidden from volunteering for them, and it wasn't until his father conveniently died several days before the next Hunger Games that Brandon took his chance and volunteered for the Hunger Games.

Ah, I wasn't as specific as I meant to be. This is an alternate timeline of the Hunger game series, and I was wondering when the split took place after Katniss and Peeta won. Did the uprising fight the Capitol and lose, or was there never a sustained resistance? the placing of District Thirteen seems to be back in the fold, so the former seems likely, but if every part of the canon including parts of Mockingjay is in this universe, save for the Capitol losing, why would those in power let Ms. Everdeen and her allies live?

what i planned is for the rp to take place after the book Mockingjay, so President Snow would be dead, along with Coin since Katniss shot her with the arrow. everything that happened in the book had already happened in the rp in the past, and at the very end of Mockingjay when Katniss and Peeta had children i thought that my two characters could be their children, so Katniss and Peeta are my two character's parents. i have a whole plot-line planned out so there is going to be death in the arena, so the best thing to do is make more than one character. i'm trying my best not to give anything away

Ah, I see. Considering that the Hunger Games are still going on, I'm going to guess it's a case of "meet the new boss, same as the old boss."
