EDIT: I hope everybody understands "Ambipom".
OK, to avoid questions that will be raised about Ambipom, the 'ambi' comes from ambidextrous, which means you;re good with both hands. It's pronounced 'Am-bee-pom'.

Not arguing, just saying what I need to say.

Where in my post did it say that not knowing the puns is a crime? I just posted where Ambipom is derived from since I know that people will ask about it, plus I was responding to the previous poster -_-.

Your choice, but you need to live with them if you're buying the English version.

I know- now that I have some of the D/P names in my head, it will be hard to transition over to the US names.

Actually, if you try to remember some of the new names, it doesn't sound as bad as some people say.

A user on the GameFAQs message board posted the complete list of US English names for Pokemon Diamond/Pearl, you can view the post here: US Names Of Fourth Gen of Pokemon. The list was further confirmed by sites who were slowly leaking the names.

You can now view all the US English names along with their sprites in our Sprite Resource page: Sprite Resource

Pokemon Diamond and Pokemon Pearl will be released on April 22, 2007.

Thanks for sharing that, kid, you're too generous.

And, yes, I already knew that, in case you want to fail me on that too. I just made a point that it sounded like a turd on a twig, not that it actually was.

They should have kept Naetle, Turtwig isn't as good in my opinion. I would have liked Rhyperior to be named as Rhyperion, (Keeping the Rhy and -don from Rhydon) but eh. :(

Arceus is good for a legendary. :D

KK thanks.
Also, If Shaymin is the most awesome Pokemon, why does he get the worst name of all?

Most of the D/P Pokemon have horrible english names. Nintendo is, unfortunately, running out of ideas. Names like Vespiqueen and Ambipom are pretty cool, but Chimchar? Turtwig? Come on!

Then it's time for Nintendo to embrace the Japan concept and start saying the names in the politically corrected order. I don't know why they give such lame names, I think when I get those Pokemon on my DP, I am going to give each one of them the proper original name in Japan.

Good one on May2, Starly.
Here's what I got on Hikari on defination:
Hikari
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jump to: navigation, search
Not to be confused with Hickory.
Hikari (光; ひかり) is a Japanese word that means "light".

So...what kind of a name can you get from 'light'? Now, the defination of Kasumi meant 'water' or 'mist', and that's how 'Misty' came to be.

Hehe I've already got 30% of them memorized now.
I remember back in 1998, 2000, and 2003 telling myself I'd never remember the 150, 251, and 386 names...

Now let's just hope this is finally the last batch.
