Lugia and Ho-oh Genders
I know as legendaries Lugia and Ho-oh are genderless, I'm just curious to see if you feel they are more feminine or masculine. I'm still undecided.

Re: Lugia and Ho-oh Genders
I consider them both male, not because I'm in any way sexist, but because that's just how I see it.
Ho-oh I've used so much in Role-Playing and such and since I'm not really comfortable in referring to someone as it, not when it's an actual personality etc. attached to it, he turned out to be a male character.
When it comes to Lugia I am more than a little biased by the second movie, where the voice is clearly masculine, at least it is in Swedish, haven't seen it in English. I seem to recall that I first considered Lugia as female when I played through Gold the first time, only because I thought of the two as opposites.

Re: Lugia and Ho-oh Genders
Both male for me. I consider almost anything cute/feminine female, and almost anything cool/menacing male.
Like so:
Vaporeon - Female
Flareon - Male
Espeon - Female
Glaceon - Female
Leafeon - Female
Jolteon - Male
Umbreon - Male
Eevee - Either

Re: Lugia and Ho-oh Genders
I think they both seem male as well, generally. Like Kamikaze said, Lugia has a Male voice in Pokemon 2000.
However I believe there must be both genders out there somewhere... We saw a baby Lugia and its mother in the Whirl Islands in the anime, so that shows that Lugia can be either.

Re: Lugia and Ho-oh Genders
Lugia is male and Ho-Oh female.
Ho-Oh gave life back to three fallen creatures, after all. Lugia is male because he is the counterpart to Ho-Oh.
Also, because we give genders to them in Eternity of Time...Yeah |D

Re: Lugia and Ho-oh Genders
Lugia is definitely male due to the second movie in my mind. Also, its sleek design and colors overall bring an image of masculinity. Though I can see how it would be perceived as feminine as well. It's kind of like the moon to Ho-Oh's sun. Cooler silvery things are more likely to be perceived as female, I think.
But I've never really assigned Ho-Oh a gender in my mind. O_o I guess I'll have to go with male. Because now I'm getting this decidedly Apolloesque vibe from it for some reason.

Re: Lugia and Ho-oh Genders
I consider them both male. Lugia is male in my mind because it was voiced by a guy in the movie. Ho-Oh is male because it just seems kinda masculine to me.

That's an interesting thought. Ho-oh seems to be seen as masculine more often, but you bring up a good point.

Re: Lugia and Ho-oh Genders
I always pictured lugia as feminine before I heard the voice in Pokemon 2000. Same with suicune. I still picture suicune as females most of the time but I'm really unsure when it comes to ho-oh/lugia. XD I think I'm as undecided as you are.
Because I write stories, I see any pokemon as any gender, really. YES, EVEN FEMALE MACHAMP. XD Well except things like the nidoran family and other gender-specific pokemon, EXCEPT FREAKING RUFFLET AND VULLABY. They should NOT be gender specific. That really ticks me off. And it's so typical that all the 'oruses are male when meloetta, which is CLEARLY feminine, is genderless. Just, what.

I loled at this. Or I would have if I wasn't in a library.
Suicune is definitely feminine.
I do love female Machamps. But most Pokémon, especially legendaries if you're working under the presumption that there is only one, lean one way or the other.
Meloetta definately has a female vibe but (much as it contradicts with all of this) I'm a fan of genderless legendaries. The only gendered legendaries I really support are Lati@s.

Re: Lugia and Ho-oh Genders
I seem to recall, and please correct me if i am wrong, in one of the episodes of pokemon, A team Rocket scientist managed to capture a Lugia using its child as bait. I cannot recall when i saw this episode, but I believe it could suggest that Lugia is female, however, as pointed out earlier, in Pokemon 2000 Lugia had a male voice suggesting that it is male. Based on this it seems foolish to me to bind Lugia to either gender based on the opinion this evidence suggests that there are Lugia of either gender. Ho-Oh has me stumped though.

Re: Lugia and Ho-oh Genders
I've always considered Ho-Oh a female and Lugia a male. Reason beign Ho-Oh (Having resurrected three Pokemon to Entei, Raikou, and Suicune) is more caring while Lugia is bad*** :3 (No offense ladies, you can be bad*** too I suppose :/)

Re: Lugia and Ho-oh Genders
I've always found them both to be male, personally. Ho-Oh especially, though I guess Lugia can be either or since, as pointed out, there was a male-sounding Lugia in the second movie and a female mother in the Johto special. n n;
