It's funny though, i'm more concerned about finding evolution stones in the grottoes than anything else but they never spawn for me.
It's probably easier to get the stones through the PWT, they only cost 3 BP so you should be able to get them pretty quickly. I've never found a single stone when I've been hunting grottoes.

It's easier to just go through the White Treehollow/Black Tower challenge to get stones [in my opinion]. They sell them just outside.

Well, I don't visit the stone shop everyday. I didn't know yet what kind of stones they sold. I just figured they sold all of them.

Nah, you see, Black City holds water and leaf (i think) and Whitetree hollow holds Fire and thunderstone.

both cities sell dawn and duskstones

If you're worried about the strength of your pokemon, have a go at the rental tournament, you get to choose between 6. Also, before that, you have to choose either left, middle, or right. From what I understand. the left gives you offensive pokemon to choose from, the right gives defensive, and the middle gives a mixed team. However, if you participate in the Driftveil tournament, it shouldn't be too bad as its meant for beginners, however each of these options gives one BP upon completion, so you'll have to go through a few times.

Hope this helps

No, I've seen Leaf Stones in White Treehollow, as well as Shiny Stones.

I've only seen Minccino and then a few items and then everything else has been empty.

It drives me nuts when it's empty. I like it better when there are at least hidden items.

How long do you need to wait before stuff appears again? I didnt know if there was a set time.

After every 256 steps, there is a 5% chance of each grotto regenerating. If it regenerates, there is a 40% chance of it being an item ball, 40% chance for a hidden item, and 20% for a pokemon. This 20% if then further broken down (unevenly) between the different pokemon that can appear there. Quite often, it will be 15% for one, 4% for another and 1% for the last, or variations of this.

Hope that helped!

I've read you can generate with pass powers too. I'm not sure yet though, and I don't know how either. XD

There's always been an item or pokemon in the grottoes when i check. I follow the routes in the order they appear in the storyline, i.e: start at route 25 >route 5 etc

Albeit i mostly get mulch but nontheless i still get something.
