Default EV's are not in Pokemon R/B/Y, correct?

Just confirming. Also, that means for example, all Level 3 Pikachus would have to same stats, right?

They exist, but in a different form.

They exist in the form of stat experience. Basically, each stat can earn 65535 stat experience, which is obtained by defeating Pokemon, where the Pokemon's base stats are converted into stat experience and are added to your Pokemon's current stat experience total. In this instance, defeating 656 Mew would give a Pokemon maximum stat experience.

Also IVs still exist, but they only go up to 15.

In "layman's terms" can anyone please tell me what IV's and EV's are? Also why Rare Candies are bad?

Incidentally, I raised my team on Pokemon Black completely on battle experience. No Rare Candies. I threw away every candy I came across. I haven't raised a team on strictly experience since the original Pokemon Red and Blue.

Throwing away Rare Candies is a waste because they only 'ruin' a Pokemon's stats if the Pokemon's EVs are not maxed out.

EVs or Effort Points are the stats that you get from beating Pokemon. Each Pokemon gives out certain EVs for certain stats, and when you have 4 EVs in a stat it results in an extra stat point in that stat. This is also where EV training, which is where you specialise in gearing EVs into certain stats, so that no extra stat points are wasted. Each stat can have 255 EVs total, and overall a Pokemon can have 510 EVs.

IVs are like the DNA of a Pokemon. They cannot be changed, and they determine how well a Pokemon performs in each of its stats. As of Generation V, they go up to 31, and each one acts like an extra stat point, so the more you have the better.

So are the IVs the numbers I can see like the HP, ATT, DEF, SP.ATT, SP.DEF, and SPD stats?

When I get a few points into each stat at Level Up, those are EVs right?

Is it okay to use Rare Candies to level up my Pokemon? Should they only be used on a
Hacked Pokemon with maxed out stats?

NOOOOO don't you remember from Blaine's Gym? Well, I guess you battled an extra trainer there.

To answer your question, here are EVs, it's just a totally different system.

R/B/Y/G/S/C uses a system of IVs where values are up to 15 and a system of EVs called Stat Experience.

In gen 1-2, stat experience for every stat can be maxed, therefore it is not like EVs in that you don't have to pick what stats you want to raise.

Stat experience is given to the Pokemon equal to the base stats of the Pokemon you just defeated.

Stat experience in RBYGSC does NOT end at level 100, because you can use the box trick. Any Pokemon deposited into a box will be recalculated and the stat experience taken into account.

yes, they are, but its harder to ev train cuz the ev,s have to pass, like 1000 points instead of 65 points or so
