do you usually teach an ice move for your water type Pokemon?

Generally my water Pokemons know an ice move to get protected from grass foes.

But if I am using a water/ground or water/rock Pokemon, I don't teach ice once it's more safe in my opinion you switch than try to defeat a grass foe, even with an ice move.

i use ice moves when ever i can, i feel that it balances out my move sets

Ice is an excellent offensive type. With Dragon-types wreaking havoc, it's a fine choice. Ice is great against Grass and Ground types too, though Water STAB is preferable on the latter. It even hits neutral on Gyarados.

I think I usually don't, but its not on purpose probably just because it doesn't cross my mind. I prefer to use stab moves.
