What is the point of making teams to specific tiers? I just put mons on a team, if they work they work.

Well it's give certain pokemon a chance to thrive and keep others away which would otherwise be broken such as kyogre.
there is nothing to say you cant use nidoking in ou, ect. it's just he may be outclassed a little by something else

True, but if you have good strategy, any pokemon can be good any where.
