Default Unimaginative Pokemon?

A lot of Pokemon are based off of something like a mythical creature or certain animals, but are there any Pokemon that seem like their inspiration was lackluster? You starting to wonder if the Pokemon Company is running out of ideas? Ever thought "what were they thinking?" Post your thoughts here about Pokemon you think could have been better inspiration-wise.

To me, I don't like Trubbish or Garbador. A Pokemon based off a trash bag seems a little uninspiring.

I agree. Also, I have a comparison to show.

Briviary
Aquilamon

Don't they look oddly similar? It's almost an exact clone, sorta.

Though, some are nice. Snivys, for example.

In before Trubbish and Vanillite hate posts.

I think every Pokemon is imaginative in its own way. A lot of thought goes into the design of each and every one, with each explaining its own concept and basis.

Braviary and Aquilamon share the same basic features but beyond that I wouldn't stretch it, MGS.

As per creativity...Well, such beings as Grimer and Koffing wouldn't be very original themselves if introduced now, eh? I don't really like Garbador, but it's unique and passable.

Creativity among other kinds of Pokemon is decreasing, just not where you'd think. How many Normal-Flying types have we had now?

Voltorb and Electrode strike me as the least imaginative Pokemon ever created.

I find Alomomola's design to be the least creative. Game Freak got a Luvdisc, fed it too many Pokeblocks and Poffins, and out pops the fat Luvdisc known as Alomomola.

The Klink evolution like. Just popping on a few more gears. It's like Magneton and Dugtrio, only they don't change poses!!

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!

I luffs you.

Yeah. I hate that people call pokemon uncreative. Or unimaginative. I think all pokemon are great in their own way, like Jedgie said. I hate hating on pokemon. o.o I don't think any is "uncreative." And anyway, this kinda stuff is negative. Why not have a positive thread? o.e

Cause shaking things up keep it interesting. Thought I would make a negative thread for once. Each Pokemon does have its reasoning; it's just harder to see it with certain ones imo. Everyone has the right to like or not like certain Pokemon.

Dugtrio. I don't dislike Diglett, but its evolution isn't anything nifty, just two other of the same Pokemon together. It seems like they just got lazy.

It is healthy to look at what you love or believe in a subjective fashion every once and a while, GS. xD

I personally think that a few are unimaginative. Like Poliwhirl to Poliwrath.

I'm guilty of this.

Trubbish and Garbodor...I mean, we already have Grimer and Muk. Yes, I realize one is garbage and one is sludge, but to be honest I think Grimer and Muk pull off the whole "result of pollution" thing a lot better.

And Vanillite...I just...It's creepy. Vanillite is okay, I suppose. Vanillush is pushing it. Vanilluxe, however, I hate with a passion. It's downright creepy - the one "head" has a STRAW COMING OUT OF IT. ...Which is apparently can expel stuff from.

._. <--- Totally me right now.

They could have done a lot better...
