Rare Candies

alright so ive done most of my reading and catching up on EVs and know that their are times when you shouldnt use rare candies.

when exactly is it ok to use rare candies. in my case im just playing through the game (including the islands) to try and complete the pokedex as much as possible and explore...i wont be breeding my perfect team with attitudes and then powerleveling them up with exact EV builds. So in my case, isnt it alright to go ahead and use rare candies whenever? or...not-so-much?

I don't think there is ever a real reson to use them. i mean I guess if your evs are maxed...but otherwise no idea.

They're good for helping with Happiness evolution, and they make EV training easier sometimes (each will give you 10 points in a specific stat). That's about it, really.

At the rate you're going, if your pokemon are around level 60 - 65, you might have maxed out your evs (if caught or bred from an early level) so go ahead. But i suggest you save your rare candies for when you're doing your ev training. Catch 5 meowth/phanpy, put them in your party and let their ability 'pickup' take affect. you'll have a good chance of getting rare candies.

I assume Megumi is talking about the pokemon drugs?
Sorry I don't know what to call them - pokemon base status enhancers.

Well, I usually save my Rare Candies, then my friend does some werid cheat thingy and gets me over 99,999 Rare Candies! And that is only one my Sapphire. Its real cool since I can EVO. Pokémon or get them to 100.

Using Rare Candies on pokemon who haven't maximized their EV points isn't healthy.

Vitamins...yes, I was talking about those. >_< For some reason, I get them mixed up. Sorry about that!

Anyway, if you MUST use Rare Candies, it seems that you should get the EVs you want on your 'Mons first.

You can dump the 510 EVs on the 6 stats before you get to 100. :P (still not healthy)

Or you can get it to 99, and use the daycare trick (I assume it's still there) to get to 510 EVs at level 99. :P

Well, as to me, I don't use Rare Candies to raise up my own team. I just use to it to evolve pokemon's for my dex. I evolve Dragonair into Dragonite if I was sure that I'm not using it as a part of my party. And when I change my mind, I breed a Lv.5 Dratini so I can get EV's and all. So, I save my candies in my pocket.. Or bag.
