Default How Pokemon would be in real life

I'm writing a story called Giovanni of the Land, where pokemon are treated poorly since they were created and Giovanni, as head of team rocket tries to stop everyone from treating them so shamefully.
Now, pokemon are so supposed to look slightly unnatural and alien, but I also want them to sound rea, so their anatomy and powers really DO sound like they should work.... any suggestion for some pokemon description???

I would prefer generation one pokemon overall, because my story starts from the beginning....so far only four pokemon have been described, Mew, Bulbasaur, charmander and squirtal...

It sounds like your asking for people to describe pokemon for you. Just look at the pokemon themselves and compare them to what there based on. It's really quite easy to make pokemon be like creatures. There just like animals, but they look different. Have them do average things like they would, and describe them in the procsess(comparing themselves to the animal there based off of, perhaps).

And it's Squirtle.

Well, that's not what Pinecone asked for, is it? People are to help him describe Pokémon as they would be describe in the real world.

I'd say describe them, highlighting likenesses to real animals, and then move on to explain about their supernatural powers...

I had an idea last saturday, to put in some fanfic : warnings on TV (like, IRL, those saying that smoking is bad... we have that in France), short video clips saying that Pokemon aren't dolls but that they have real powers and are dangerous if you cannot control them.
Got this idea watching the anime : some fire pokemon was battling, it burnt Brock's head by accident, Brock's head got black, but a few seconds later, he was okay. I was about to shout : HE WAS BURNED BY REAL FIRE, ALRIGHT ? It's like in old cartoons : some cat or mouse may jump from a cliff, and you find it alive a few seconds later, it's just as flat as a piece of paper... and that effect does not last.
I tend to think that the Pokémon world should be a bit more realistic. If Pokemon existed IRL, I think the Flamethrower attack, for example, would be one of the first cause of death.

I also saw on the web a computer-modified image, it was a kind of mouse or guinea pig with bright yellow fur and red cheeks, like a Pikachu. I think that if Pokemon existed, they would not be drawn in manga style, they would look like the animal they're based on. They would be rather ugly...

About description... well, that's just what I'm currently trying to do : a real-world like setting. But it wouldn't fit the plot I'm working on, so I think I'll just make a one-shot with my TV idea. I'm working on that old "Pokemon-are-no-machines-so-you-should-respect-them-and-respect-nature" idea.

I suggest going over to SPPf and reading Pokemon Exsisto by Chesire Cat. (Not sure about the spelling.)

Anyways, just imagine real animals with elemental signs and what not overlaid with fur or scales.

If you are trying to make the elemental powers/attacks look right (which I don't recommend trying, as it is nigh impossible too) good luck.

Not mentioning the powers would kill the concept of Pokemon, and making the Pokemons' appearance realistic would be difficult (in a description, I just can't think of a way to highlight the difference between a manga character and a IRL-animal-like Pokémon) and uninteresting. The ONLY thing that may, in my opinion, make the IRL-style fic interesting is realistic consequences for attacks, as I said before. In my example, Brock should have gone to hospital, at least. Of course, it may be difficult to deal with such dangerous creatures, it's much simpler in the anime, in which the Pokemon battles seem to happen in a parallel world that may not have consequences on the world in which the trainers are... oh, alright, they sometimes damage the stadium, but they never hurt the characters.

Maybe I'll do a whole fic based on that idea of dangerous, realistic Pokemon... or maybe I'll add that to my current work... dunno. I need to think about it.

Ze_gobu: But then battling would be a lot like monsters fighting in Yugioh. I'm sure you don't want that to happen to you...

Well, when I said how pokemon would be in real life it a sort of mixed thing, because in the story I'm writing, pokemon arn't actually natural creatures. They are spliced subjects of different types of DNA, using the core cells from MEW, who everyone thinks is an alien from some unknown world.
It;s different, and I'm sure lots of people will be un happy with it, but, I think I have a point. Pokemon fighting each other....it's a little sick. It's like having a pet dog and making it fight you're best friends cat.

So, thats the point of view I'm taking, and making it so Giovanni thinks this as well, so when rocket innfiltrated Silph, it was his attempt at destroying the source of power in Kanto. (Silph was the company that intoduced the clonging programme that created pokemon)

If anyone has any questions about something, like some more info on how it works and stuff liek that, please ask, I have thought of nearly everything, and I think it's a pretty good idea.... though I would likem to know about anything I've missed out.
