Its hard to compare. In a one on one fight, venusaur would probably win. Venusaur is more tank oriented while sceptile is a pretty pure sweeper. My second favorite pkmn is venusaur(right behind arcanine) so Im biased to tell you to go with venusaur. I will tell you that in the D/P generation, Venusaur will pwn all, ecpecially since its sludgebomb is coming from its great special attack instead of its average physical attack. Sceptile will still be good, just not as close to venusaur as they are now.

FYI, Meganium, Venusaur, and Sceptile can all learn Earthquake.

I like Sceptile but only because I favor Treecko as the better Starter Pokemon.

Megainuim. I love Bayleaf, so therfore, I love Megainum best! Scetile would be soci=ond, cause I like Groovyle. Leaf Blade good. Sweet scent better. Synthesis even better.

Venusaur. It has the best defense and special attacks. But for speed, Sceptile. Meganium for HP and charging moves, it's kinda slow.

If it's favorites, I think Grovyle or Meganium is best.

Sceptile is Good with TMs.
Venasaur is a good full on grass attack.
And Meganium is fun to use.

But over all, I'd go withe Venasaur. Get him the right attacks, and bam! Best of the three.
