I am pleasantly pleased with the name for pre-Chansey. Such a Happy Pokemon!

Bippa isn't the Chansey pre-evo.

For those whining about the starter's names, you fail to realize that the names have the exact same pun as the Japanese ones.

Naetle : nae(sapling) + tle(turtle)
Hikozaru : hi(fire) + ko(young) +zaru(monkey)
Pochama : pocha(splash in water) +chama(snob)

Turtwig : tur(turtle) + twig
Chimchar : chim(chimp) + char
Piplup : pip(pipsqeak) + plup(onomatopoeia of dripping water)

~~~~~
@Starly : Darn you for registering earlier than me =(
Oh man, I was way off. Well, it would have been a better name for it, instead of for the beaver.
I think Turtwig is a cute name :). They really are doing a good job for making each genrations English names 'fit' together in how they sound :).
I am still waiting for them to make a pokeball with a pillowlined inside like in the anime though ;)
I'm so happy that potchama gets to keep it's name, others get to keep theirs too but not too many.
I understand that, but it doesn't make the names sound any better ^^;
^_^; You know what I just noticed? Even if I wasn't on any forums for the R/S releases (I had gotten into Pokemon just a while before the games were released in the U.S.), I guess it was the same thing. People saw the English names, threw a fit, but now look where we are. Most people are okay with them.
I'm getting used to the English names. If you don't like them, deal with it. XD I'm completely used to Turtwig now.
Okay, I do have problems with Piplup, though. >_>;;
