Ash and Aipom - Pokemon Forum

Why did Ash catch Aipom right before the Sinnoh and Aipom folled him? I think they gave him Aipom so he can evolve. Anyone agree?

Yup, that seems the most likely reason to me. I half expected it when he caught Aipom so close to the end of the BF, and then it was released that there would be an Aipom evolution: that confirmed what I'd thought.

thats obviously why he caught it because he already had his random capture in snorunt he always gets a random capture
eg:muk,krabby,heracross,phanphy,snorunt
kind of how brock caught bonsly and now its a suddowoodo d/p spoiler if u didnt know

Yeah. Basically to evolve it. No other reason why. I mean they do like to give Ash a team compose of pokemon from the region that he is in. Kind of messed up since it just a random pokemon like you said. Most of the time they like to keep it where he catches the needed pokmon first. (flying, fire, grass, and water) then go with the random catch. Still it is ashame. They could have gave him a dark type or something instead of go with the cute thing that is useless in battle if you ask me. Still you know they going to give it the wide move pull as you saw Focus Punch which is kind of over done now. Pretty soon he going to catch the evole Magmar form or a magmar.

Also it seems like little Aipom likes contests. I don't like that but seeing how the last episode of Battle Frountier is then yeah. Still the main thing here is to advertise the evole form of Aipom. What else they have plan for Aipom can only be guess.

Aw, what's wrong with cute in the anime? It's about the only place you can have both cute and badass at the same time anymore, Mystery Dungeon and Mew-likes aside. Also, what's this about "useless in battle"? Right now, Aipom is his second strongest Poké. Don't tell me you think Naetoru or Mukubird are better.

I am sad that it'll have to evolve, because Aipom is adorable as she is... But then again, (since this was already spoiled, I'll just say it) they did go and evolve Bonsly, when I thought the whole point was that it was a D/P Pokémon and ya know, Sudowoodo.. isn't. Well, we'll see.

Also, I kinda doubt we'll keep seeing Ash participate in contests.. Otherwise we might as well have Hikari start collecting badges too. I think it was just a convenient way to make all the rivals important characters for her first contest.

I've got to agree with you there, Aipom is the strongest of those three.

TR, with strong Pokemon? Where would the fun be in that?

I wonder if for Aipom to evolve he is going to need to know the move Double Attack like in the game. Naetoru and Mukkubird could beat Aipom easily. Pikachu on the other hand....... Aipom she still is a strong Pokemon(Yes It's a Girl I was shocked too!) Ash has never had a Psychic, Dark, Ghost(Unless you count that Haunter which he let go) or a steel type(I think?

Seeing as Ash caught Aipom a few episodes before D/P comes out, Aipom would most probably evolve in the next generation. :D

Yeah I thought that as well since she followed him and Ash alway says "I just going to take my Pikachu with me,"

I hope they have an episode where Pikachu and Aipom really duke it out. Like the jealousy starts to fly on a serious level and they have an all out battle with pikachu learning how to mix volt tackle with iron tail and Aipom hittin next form. I mean it would make sense because they cant both be the favorite but Ash would let em know in the end he loves em both.
