Default Trying For That Tadpole!

-Part 1-

Ryan was ultimately happy. He has just caught the sassy Meowth that had a tough battle. Ryan was now near the riverbank next to his house at the bottom of Pallet Town. Ryan sat down and let his newly caught Meowth and his starter Pokemon Vulpix lay down to eat. They sat down playing and eating some sandwiches and Pokechow. Meowth quickly ate his food and started to paddle in the water. Vulpix started to eat. It knew that it couldn’t paddle in the water having the fact that it was a fire type Pokemon. Ryan finished two sandwiches, tuna to be exact. Ryan gobbled down a few grapes and drank some apple juice. He then paddled with Meowth and settled Vulpix on his lap. His jeans got a little wet, but he managed it. He then played peek-a-boo with his Pokemon. Then all of a sudden a Pokemon jumped out of the water. It was a tadpole looking Pokemon. Ryan knew the name of the Pokemon and it was Poliwag. The Pokemon started to walk. Ryan noticed the Pokemon and stopped playing peek-a-boo and walked toward the Poliwag. “Let’s catch it. Meowth come on and use a Fury Swipes attack to get its attention.” Ryan whispered to his newly caught cat Pokemon. Meowth did it. It used the attack that he used many times on Vulpix in the earlier battle. It sure got Poliwag’s attention. The Poliwag turned around and used a Bubble attack on Meowth. “Meowth, Meowth!” The cat Pokemon said licking its claws. Ryan was happy. The Meowth was confident. Ryan was also. “Now Meowth, Pay-Day to throw coins at it!” The cat Pokemon did the order again. It threw coins from its paws toward the tadpole. It was a sure hit. As Poliwag tried to dodge them. It was able to hit it. Ryan felt more confident. Vulpix smiled at the cat Pokemon. The tadpole Pokemon was still up though. It still managed to hit with Doubleslap. It hit Meowth on the face a lot with its fin. Now Ryan felt bad. Meowth managed to keep up. It still had a lot of energy. “Okay now. Hit Poliwag with a Fury Swipes again Meowth!”

-Part 2-

The Meowth threw another Fury Swipes at Poliwag. As soon as the attack hit, it turned night. Ryan couldn’t see that much, but he still kept on the battle. The battle was still young and Ryan was ready for action as the Poliwag threw another Bubble. Ryan felt ready to attack again. He remembered most of the attacks that Meowth knew. The Poliwag was an easy target. “Okay now, Faint Attack! Give it a lot of power!” Ryan shouted as loud as he could. Meowth did a Faint Attack. It hit Poliwag enough for it to fall on the ground. Ryan felt happier and happier after each attack made. Poliwag got up again. Ryan was surprised. The Poliwag seemed so weak. Poliwag hit with another attack similar to Bubble. It was a Water Gun. Ryan needed to attack again. The Poliwag was still up. Meowth was still up too. Meowth seemed to have more energy than Poliwag. Both Pokemon were hit for sure though. Ryan seemed that Meowth’s confidence would help him through the battle. “Now hit it with a fresh Fury Swipes!” Ryan shouted. Meowth hit with its third time using Fury Swipes. It was one of the most powerful Ryan has seen towards the whole battle and it was powerful enough to keep Poliwag down. The Poliwag was down, but not down for long. The tadpole got up in a mere five to six seconds. When it got back up, it hit with another Bubble. Meowth was hit again! “Oh no! Meowth hit with another Faint Attack. Please?” Meowth was good enough to pull through with another Faint Attack. The place flashed and by the time the light pulled back, the Poliwag looked hit. It was Poliwag’s turn to hit and Poliwag hit back with Bubble again.

-Part 3-

Meowth seemed to barely be hit though. Meowth just felt like it was hit with an unsharpened pencil. Ryan jumped for joy. He was glad Meowth wasn’t very hit. “Yes! Great job Meowth! Hit again with another great Fury Swipes.” Poliwag was hit again. It seemed more hurt than Meowth. Meowth looked in bettere shape. It was in way better shape to be exact. Poliwag still got back up. It was so amazing to Ryan. Poliwag seemed hit badly by the last attack. Poliwag got back up and hit with another of its Water Gun attack. Ryan was ready to attack again. “Okay, Pay-Day to hit again!” The Pokemon did another Pay-Day. It threw coins at the poor little tadpole. It was another sure fire hit! Ryan was happy. It was another of the successful attacks that Meowth had done. Vulpix was happy also. It was jumping around dancing. Ryan wanted to throw a Pokeball at Poliwag, but didn’t think it was weakened enough for a successful catch. Ryan decided to just throw another attack. “Another Fury Swipes. Come on Meowth. Throw a good one!” Meowth threw another Fury Swipes at the little tadpole. It was one hard and successful hit, but Ryan knew Poliwag was still in good shape. Poliwag was in good shape. It hit back with another Doubleslap. It was a weak one though. “Nice. That was a weak attack. Now, another Fury Swipes like your earlier one!” Ryan never felt as preppy as of how he was now. He felt so over-confident that he would catch the Poliwag Pokemon to add on his team. Meowth did another Fury Swipes. It hit hard. Poliwag was down on the ground lying down with nothing else to do. Ryan had a good chance that Poliwag would be captured. So he made up his mind and knew exactly what to do. He had to do it. “Now, let’s go with a Pokeball! Now!” Ryan shouted as he threw a Pokeball towards the little tadpole that stood on the floor. The Pokeball started to Ding. Ding…Ding…Ding. After every ding, Ryan felt more and more frustrated. He didn’t know if he caught the Pokemon. He didn’t even feel like looking. “Come on! I don’t have all day!” Ryan felt more impatient as the Pokeball dinged more. Once…Twice…

Your introduction was alright, and the plot, for a Poliwag, was sufficient. In the future, however, I'd like to see you try to do a bit more of a complex plot than simply finding the Pokemon.

I did like your characters. You seem to be gradually adding personality to them- For example, a swimming Meowth was interesting, as cats often don't like water. =)

Your battle seems to focus more on the effects the attacks have on the Pokemon, than on actual descriptions of the attacks. It's not enough to stop this from being a capture this time, but in the future, do try to remember to describe the attacks as well. Sight, Sound, and Smell are very important. ;) They help your reader 'see' what is going on.

Overall, a good story. It's on the short side, but still long enough. Do try to write a bit more in the future, though. Anywhere in the range is good, but don't always write the minimum just because you can get away with it. ;)

Poliwag Captured, enjoy the little Tadpole.
