Re: Guide on IV breeding
So the only way to check IVs is to hatch each egg and then level it?
The levelling part.. doesn't seem so bad, i think someone left a tip to just fly over to Battle Park and during those match ups.. they automatically set your pokemon to lvl 50 right?
But still, the only way to get it to that stage is by hatching the eggs right..? That's alot of eggs to hatch...

[QUOTE=finallegacy;1244796] 'Know the number of acceptable IV’s each parent has in those stats you care about.'
What are accpetable IV's? I didn't quite understand that part.

It all up to you. I personally believe 20+ is good IV's, but its your choice.

Re: Guide on IV breeding
This guide is quite good, I'm surprised it's not stickied considering it has a few thousand views and it's one of the few, if not the only IV guide on this forum.
But then again, I face so many hackers with their pokes having perfect IV's and they claim them to be "legal hacks." In an age where people decide to cheat instead of play fair, this guide may not have a place anymore.

Re: Guide on IV breeding
Nice guide, thankyou :)
I'm attempting to IV breed a feebas to train for my team. Have a female with 31 in spd/27 spl defence right now. Just trying to find a partner for her who also has good spl defence and also either high hp or spl atk stat.
Just curious though. Is there a way to breed a particular nature? I want my Milotic bold :3

Re: Guide on IV breeding
actually the following is a more accurate description :
IV Characteristics:
When you look at the summary of your pokemon and look at the trainer memo page, the page where it shows the nature and such. The second comment from the bottom, the one above what kind of food it likes, tells what may appear to be a random comment like "mischievous" or "somewhat of a clown." These descriptions however actually identify an IV that your pokemon has. Here is a list of what the descriptions mean, but some do repeat however.
HIT POINTS
1, 6, 11, 16, 21, 26, 31 -Often dozes off
0, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 -Loves to Eat
4, 9, 14, 19, 24, 29 -Likes to Relax
3, 8, 13, 18, 23, 28 -Likes to scatter things
2, 7, 12, 17, 22, 27 -Often Naps
Basically take the numbers ... they are all mod(5).
Sadly this means if you pokemon "Often Naps" you could theroetically have a Pokemon that has a 2 HP. And that is it's HIGHEST IV too!!!!
Congrats you caught a near min pokemon.

So in the first round of inheritance, lets say the offsrping inherits parent 1's HP IV, so now the offsprings IV's are...
31/18/17/16/15/14
In the second round of inheritance, it can't inherit HP IV's from the parents, so lets say it gained the speed IV of parent 2...
31/18/17/16/15/20
In the third and last round of inheritance, it can't inherit HP or defense IV's, so lets say it gained the sp. def IV of parent 2...
31/18/17/16/21/20
So these are now the IV's of the offspring.
|
Si if I understand, the offspring is now
31/18/17/16/ 21/ 20
If I change the parent, will the offspring stay the same?
And will it inheritance two others stat?

Re: Guide on IV breeding
Thankyou for writing this guide it really explains IV's in a really simple way.
It took me ages t grasp the concept of EV's and IV's and I still wasn't completely sure about IV's but this guide makes it perfectly clear and helps a lot with breeding.
I know this is an old thread but still well done :D

No, it won't make them weaker unless you never use them in battle ever.
Putting them in the daycare for a little while or giving them a few rare candies won't hurt in the long run.
By the way, try not to post in really old threads. If you have a question you can always make a new thread in the board it relates to =)
