Does it matter? If you find one yay, if you don't then oh well. Not that big of a deal really because shineys do nothing for you anyway.

Yes, Shadow Pokemon can be shiny, not that you'll ever find one.

Yeah they can be shiney, but its a hell of a lot harder to find one in the game. (since there are no wild pokes)

Would you be able to get one eventually by resetting your game each time the pokemon you want to be shiny isn't, and trying again, or is the whole thing predefined?

Yes, it's still the same odds as normal. Every Shadow Pokemon has a 1/8192 of being shiny. If you keep resetting in front of your target trainer, you WILL eventually get the Shadow Pokemon (Hope you don't mind staying up all night to get it!). On a side note, Espeon, Umbreon and Plusle can be shiny. The other non shadow Pokemon you get which I'm not saying for spoiler reasons can also be shiny. Now, this topic can die.

Shinies get higher stats so it does matter or is that just in the GB game.

Nope.
That was only in GSC. But in R/S/E/FR/LG/Col., Shinies have the SAME stats as normal Pokemon. -PF Thoughts: Shiny=Cool
