TM difference trade rule - Pokemon Forum

I don't know if this is still in effect, but I believe for a while there was a rule that traded 'mon can't have more than a 4 TM difference. If this is still around, I'd like to point out that it is a rather silly rule, that neglects to take certain things into effect. For example, if I wanted to trade a Porygon-Z for a Butterfree... WEll, that's not an even trade, right? PZ is way stronger, even if Butterfree are cute enough that I'd prefer to have one of those. ;p However, with that kind of TM rule in place, I can't get a butterfree that is 'worth' a PZ, I can't have the person with Butterfree TM it up a lot before trading it to me.

Anyway, is this rule still around? If so, I'd like to ask that there be a way that people can request to get around it for certain trades, to make things more fair. IE, if a mod/official says that a trade that falls within those rules would be totally uneven, that the rule can be ignored and one 'mon can be TMed so as to make the trade more fair. Basically, this rule makes it so I can practically give away a PZ for a little Butterfree, but so I can't be 'careful' about trading off good story 'mon only occaisonally and for other equal-worth Pokemon. It is essentially making it possible for me to almost give away these Pokemon, but not to 'price' them high enough that not everyone will be able to afford comissioning one. ;)

The rule was put in place to prevent people that are leaving the URPG trading powerful Pokemon for Caterpies bought from the Pokemart.

Your trade sounds fine.

Oh, good. =) So the rule only counts for 'mart type trades, then, not for things that involve ubers like PZ? ^^:

No, the rule is in place for people that try and trade super powerful pokemon with a hundred fifty thousand Tm for a weedle bought in the mart. Everything is else is case by case.

But, as Jack said the situation you outlined above is fine, though dumb.

Oi, be nice. I love butterfree. =( If someone was willing to stick 15+ tms on one, I'd maybe trade PZ for it.
