Survivors
Outwit. Outplay. Outlast.
Introduction:
Well, most of you know the TV series, Survivors. For those who don't, it's a reality show that shows how 16 or 18 Americans go to a foreign, inhabited location as two teams. They compete for $1 million dollars and to get the prize, they have to outplay, outwit and outlast the others by winning contests. There are two types of contests, the prize challenges and the immunity challenges. The teams get some beneficial prize from the prize challenge to help them survive longer on the island or where ever they are. From the immunity challenge, they earn the immunity icon that makes them, well, immune in the Tribal Council. In the Tribal Council, where the losing team of the immunity challenge goes, one member of the team is anonymously voted out. So this is is the way how they get the winner, players get eliminated one by one until only two are left. Then the show goes...stupid because they go to N.Y to vote for the final Survivor. Now, we can format this to the URPG, right?
Main Rules/Info:
The URPG survivors is going to be a tournament to start with. Two tribes with 10 members will compete against each other in different areas; battles, stories, knowledge etc. To see what qualifications you need to become a team member, check the
Qualification part. The members will be divided to the teams randomly so it will be fair and there will be no "team choosing" this way. I think we can manage to get the teams balanced enough.
Every other week, there is going to be a
Prize Contest where the winning team will earn a beneficial prize that will help them "to survive" (win more of the future challenges). Prizes can include money, items, rental Pokemon, TMs etc. We will sometimes need judges for these contests.
When there is no Prize Contest, there will be an
Immunity Challenge. In this Challenge the two teams compete for no prize. Well, there is a prize, two more weeks in the tournament. The winner(s) of this challenge will become immune to votes. They cannot be voted out of the touney. Others are vulnerable in the
Tribal Council though.
A clear explanation here:
Team1 wins. Team2 loses.
Team1 wins immunity. Team2 goes to Tribal Council.
A member from Team2 gets voted out.
or in individual challenge:
Member 1/10 wins. Other members lose.
Member 1/10 cannot be voted out. Other are vulnerable.
In the Tribal Council the members anynomously vote out one member by sending the vote through PM to the
Main Judge. The member with the largest amount of votes is eliminated and has to leave the tournament immediately.
Qualifications:
Well, this tournament needs to be balanced so we will have to set some restrictions. Yes, I know this eliminates some people out of the tourney, but it is necessary.
-Must know the URPG rules
No explanation needed.
-Must have at least 3 Final Evolution Pokemon
Not the worst rule possible, right? The reason for this is that we can have more advanced battles. A member with 1 starter doesn't have any chances in this tournament anyways. The Pokemon you get during the Survivors tournament can be added to the "How many Pokemon do you have" part.
-Understandable grammar and spelling.
We need to keep this understandable so there will be no misunderstandings etc.
-Must be active.
This tournament will die quickly if the members aren't active. If you consider yourself inactive, please don't enter the tourney.
-Must have AOL Instant Messenger (AIM)
Necessary for battles.
Rules Part II:
Now we all know the basics, so let's go URPGwise.
Prize challenges may include different types of battles on different arenas to make it more interesting. They also may include quizzez, little story contests, artwork or perhaps even something else...
Immunity Challenges don't differ from the Prize Challenges in any way except the stakes are higher.
At one point of the game, the two teams unite as one. Then it's everyone against everyone, no teams at all. The same rules still apply.
This game is all about strategy, alliances and team work. These things might cause what you call "back-stabbing". So we all need to remember that this is just a game, no heart feelings for anything. Of course, swearing, flaming and spamming are still prohibited.
Tribes:
There are two tribes, each have 10 members. Both teams should have at least two refs. Yes, I know that seems impossible since we're randomizing but if needed, we will modify the teams so that will apply and then announce the teams. Also, please, don't complain about your team mates, if you don't like them, try to get them voted out.
I'll make a thread for the tribe/team names, we need loads of options to choose from since we want to make everyone happy. (:
The Grand Prize:
Well, this is up to Jack whether he wants to give out a legendary or something else, but I can bet that for winning this tournament, you should get something extremely nice.
Judges:
We will need some neutral people also. If necessary, the neutral people can also be part of the Tribes, but they have to be accepted as responsible people by both tribes.
The Major Judge - decides all the important things, I'd recommend Jack for this job unless he has something else in mind.
The Main Ref - a ref who knows what he is doing and is active.
Quiz Master - makes the quizzez.
Story Judge - a grader who knows his/her job well, active as well.
Neutral Judges - some minor judges to judge the contests with the Main Judge
Current Ideas:
-The people who get eliminated, can help out as judges. Comments?
-Magare brought up some points:
crotimberwolf: that tournament would then last 10 months
MrJoelIT: yes
crotimberwolf: has ANY tournemant in the URPG lasted that long and not died?
-Also, I need ideas for different types of contests.
Apply for the tournament!
Let's make this a tournament to remember!
