Default is there such a thing as an IP ban? we might need it...

OK, well I have seen tons of pointless spammers around...yes, we all have.
I have also seen a bunch of forum advertisers come around and get banned, and then come back.

over and over and over again.

so, I was thinking. could global mods ban them from PE2K by their IP address? it would totally prevent them from coming back to PE2K forums as long as they use that internet.

we would then have no problems with people coming back from the dead (as in makinga new account again and again)

is it possible to ban them by their IP address?

I am pretty sure thats what happens to them. there is a thing called a proxy(sp) which they can keep coming back even thought they were IP banned.

IP Bans are possible. I don't think that Global Moderators can use that kind of ban, so as long as somebody has an email adress that hasn't been used here before, they can sign up. :P

Pokeking1: You are correct. A Proxy is something that indirectly allows you to connect to a website. It looks like you have a different IP, to put it plainly.

hmmm, so that means that even though they were IP banned, that they can keep coming back?

ugh, zombies.....

just kidding. so if we IP ban them, they can still come back because of the proxy(sp)?

Yes if he/she has one and/or knows how to use it.

hmm, well...is there a way do take off the proxy(sp) without hacking into their computer(if you have to im out of ideas) or making a virus to do so (if it involves that, im definitely out of ideas) because i will neither hack or make a virus in order to get the proxy(sp) off. but, if they don't know how to use it(i doubt that most will) we are ok. right?

I don't think so. They could just do it again after that happened, so yeah.

Ryan blocked all proxy servers.

It's too bad because that's the only way I can log on at school for some reason...

hmm, so that means that if ryan blocked all proxy servers, if you were IP banned, the proxy server cannot respond and get you back in?

Mine still work. '

Probably the best thing you can do is turn off PMs from people not on your friend list and just ignore their posts.

My cousin, Lapraslvr, got something like that. Though, last time I heard from him, he managed to get around it. I hope he's lying. Even though he's family, people shouldn't be able to come back. I don't know his new username, though.

But this IP ban sounds like a good idea. It could block noobs from coming back.

Currently, the only person who can IP ban is the Admin (Ryan).

All you have to worry about is reporting spam/ad bots, let us handle disciplining them.
