Default I Learned It From Pokemon Discussion

Though not a massive source of education, real knowledge can be found in the anime, manga, games and more. What have you learned and from which source? For example:

I learned the language of Braille from Pokemon Ruby.

What you learned and from which source should appear in responses.

That dodging is not an option. (they dodge everything in the anime - why not in the game?)

Seriously? I like how they hit on certain ideas in the anime (such as pokemon eggs). They introduce it in the game, and then they have an episode or two about it. Another thing is contests, and I liked how they did an episode on the Safari Park.

Er... any chance of specifying this? Do you mean knowledge in-game or as in real life school knowledge?

I learned a lot of things from Pokemon, if anything it really broadens vocabulary.

That is something I've always been mad about-not being able to dodge in the games. Evasion, which apparently is its replacement, is completely stupid and useless, and having the ability to dodge (with some limitations of course, not just evading every attack) would add a lot more strategy to Pokemon than there is right now. Not that it doesn't involve strategy, but there would be much more.

I know. I learned lots of words at age nine that not many other people knew, such as critical.

I was the only one in my 8th grade class who knew what rend meant. xD THANK YOU PARUKIA!

No, seriously, I learned some words like "Critical" and strategy. Take a look at the URPG and tell me that is not good material to learn from. D:

Well, I learned how to do mental math with converting fractions into percentages, and mental statistics and probability along with some simple multiplication from stats increases and the STAB factor.

Yeah, I'm a crazy person, but its helpful, especially for board games.

I also practicaly memorized the whole type chart, by accident. I also learned some grammarand new terms as well. Which ones I'm not sure, but it was helpful.

I barely learned things from pokemon, except some sciency stuff. :p

But the forum, has taught me to improve my grammar, how to start a website, and that paint is pretty useful.

well, it really shaped my character when I was young and it first came out. I went completely overboard learning about strategy and the fastest way to get everything done. i would spend hours deciding on the perfect way to get everything done as fast as possible, and I learned a lot about imagination that I wouldn't have bothered with for any other reason. I learned about electronics because of pokemon. It was the first videogame that I ever knew about, and definitely the first one I ever played.

More recently however, I have realized a few things about myself from the game that I might never have discovered any other way. Plus, I joined this forum and got acquainted with how the Internet works, all for the sake of pokemon. I learned to read much earlier and more proficiently than any other child in my area so that I could more effectively play pokemon, at the age of six when the game came out. Reading has since been instilled in my life as one of my most favored past-times.

Also, on the forum, as an inadvertent side effect of the games, I have started writing. In only a few months, I have come to love writing. The feeling of creating something, of bringing someone with you through your own universe where anything can happen is something that I might never have experienced if I hadn't took up pokemon as a young boy. Actually, if I hadn't started playing pokemon, I would probably be like a huge joc right now, instead of an almost non-existant nerdy guy. (yeah, that's right, a nerd. I go to a nerd school and everything...) I have also learned that determination really is the key to success in any endeavor, no matter how difficult or unusual it may seem.
