Blue game: Um...I think i'm trapped in the Cinnabar Mansion PLEASE help!

Okay, so I went to the Cinnabar Mansion to get the Secret Key (I started my game over a while ago and broke out my old guide complete with maps) and dropped from that one floor and went down the stairs to the floor with the key. I grabbed it and went back to the room where the drop had left me. Well... unfortunately, the access point to the rest of the room (which would allow me to get out and make my way to the exit) was blocked by one of those barriers (like those things in Silph you unlock with the Card Key, only these are determined by the hidden buttons on the statue.)
and in even worse twists of fate, because it's blocked I can't reach the statue and fix it! I don't have any Escape Ropes, a Pokemon with teleport, or TM 28 to teach my Pokemon Dig with. My guide never said anything for a warning and I've never gotten trapped here before. To make matters worse, my Charmander that I raised to level 70 is gonna have to go if I new game it, which is seeming to be the only way. Please tell me that there is some other way! I know I'm sounding like a n00b, but I've played for years and this is really odd. I really need help with this.

P.S. I don't own a gameshark and I think if I got one it would be risky, because I hear it can delete your data and/or make it unplayable, not to mention I wouldn't be able to use them on stadium as you'll lose if your game was tampered with a game altering device.

In a search bar type in "Online Pokemon Blue/ Red/ Yellow Guides." Or something like that. If that doesn't work then keep trying to get out. If that doesn't work....Well your last resort would be New Game or AR. Really sorry you got lost.

I'm pretty sure if you go back toward where the Secret Key was there should be a statue along the way which will allow you to open that gate.

If not you can always try making your Pokemon faint to get out of there. Could take a while though...

Thanks also, I'll try seeing if the Statue does anything. If not, I'll try to get the Pokemon to K.O. mine, but my Charmander being lv.70 with no "turn skipping" move could take quite a while.

I checked it out on my Red version and I think I get where you're stuck.
Once you've gotten the secret key, instead of going straight up the stairs, go left (follow this path. It's an FRLG map but it should be identical to RB)


Flick that switch and then go up the stairs and you should be able to walk up, right, then down and drop from the floor and out of the building.

That is, if you haven't already figured it out. ^^

Phew!!! Im glad so many people have trouble with this! I thought i was stupid!lol this has never ever happened to me! I am a pokemon kno it all!!! I think i will make my pokemon faint i ve been avoiding scientists so it may work!!!

IM playing yellow version right now. i also have diamond, my fire red got stolen( i had beaten the elite 4 and i rocked!!!!), i lost my leaf green,(my starter pokemon on fire red was charmander, leaf green trading is how i got venasuar on fire red),gold i lost my silver(left the gameboy and game outside one day and never saw it again.P.S. my brother went to college and was cleaning out his closet wen he found his gameboy color and decided to give it to me including pokemon yellow.)pokemon ranger, pokemon snap for nintendo64,pokemon colleseum for gamecube, pokemon dungeon(red version for gameboy advanced), and last(finally) i have hey you pikachu for nintendo 64. now thats a mouthful!!!

But, anyway, I've gotten lost in Cinnabar Mansion before in Yellow, but I usually corrected myself fairly quickly...Then again, it may be hard to backtrack what you've been doing. But...my suggestion is that, if you're really lost, you'll spend less time getting all your Pokemon killed (Make them Struggle if you have to) than trying to get out if that's as problematic as you say it is. That way, you can go back and do it all in one shot, so backtracking will not be that hard.

However, this may be a glitch, though. I've seen it happen with [a brand new]Tales of Symphonia...where I couldn't get a story item (forgot which), but I just reset the game so I started back before the dungeon where I saved, and it was fine after.

I also know I'm a Poké Nerd, although I don't really mind considering how I've been behind the series since it first came out. (in the U.S. anyway, I was too young at the time to even really know 'bout the Japanese versions of anime.) it was also one my first 3 anime, the others being Sailor Moon and DBZ) somewhat pathetically, I take pride in it.
