Default The Metal Legion: A Heavy Metal Club

Welcome to The Metal Legion: A Heavy Metal Club

This is a group started by Reginald and I in order to seriously converse the great, heavy genre we listen to and love called metal. We are not going to accept just anyone applying, you have to be a metal fan and we have to agree with your musical taste, or at least respect it.

We will keep a document in which we will accurately list all bands we have the time to list, listing them in alphabetical order according to the genre. We will also keep a list linking to reviews posted in the thread if we like the review and think it is accurate and well written. Feel free to write your own reviews, this club is about conversing with metalheads such as ourselves. We want this to be an interactive project.

Rules:
Do your research before leaving a comment.
Your grammar must be comprehendable.
Think your comments through; no random, clumsily woven opinions.
Reviews must be about metal in order to be featured.
Don't be a moron. I implore you to use logical thinking and your comments must be of substance.

Reviews

As aged Metalheads, both I and Raine have seen some pretty unusual things in our times. We've seen some amazingly detailed reviews; some utterly asinine verbal bashings which make little sense, that oddly bitter guy who constantly has to try and link some part of the band's style to another's and scream "RIP OFF!", the new kid in the Metal world who listens to a sellout piece of crap and thinks it's the most amazing thing ever released-- we've seen it all, folks. However, we've also seen those excellent reviews that drew us into a band and forever wrapped around us, enticing our eardrums and stimulating our mood. Therefore, we decided to add the idea of letting you, the members review posts.

Reviews can be about bands and/or albums from the past or present. It doesn't matter, so long as it's a good review, and gives us insight into the band.

Submission Rules
While we encourage members to submit their own reviews for albums and bands, we at The Metal Legion would like to lay a few ground rules down before you write up a long post for me to link to on the front page, only to discover it's not accepted and will be generally ignored.

1. Do not review music for a band which isn't actually Metal
2. Always check with The Metal Archives to see if it's actually a Metal band (we do not acknowledge bands not listed)
3. If the Metal Archives does not list the band you wish to review, do not whine "they are too Metal!", because they're most likely NOT Metal if not listed
4. Use proper spelling and grammar when you write a review a band-- if you have terrible spelling and grammar, don't bother writing a review
5. If someone has already written a rule for the band or album you want to review, please feel free to do so anyway-- more feedback is always excellent
6. You may use vulgar language and include insults towards the band or album you're reviewing, so long as it's not just ridiculously overdone
7. Please, do not get pissy if I refuse your review, as I don't have time for stupid shenanigans*

*If you have a complaint towards the reason I refused your review, feel free to contact me on AIM or through a Private Message

Band Listings

The Metal Legion is open to all Metal band submissions-- if you know of an excellent, up-and-coming band, an old band that has received no recognition, a modern band which is popular, but not listed-- whatever the case may be. Please, feel free to list them here in a post, and I will add them to the archives. Also, should there be a genre which is not listed and should be, do feel free to tell me, and list at least two or three bands for me to add under said genre. The only way for us to widen our knowledge and enjoyment of Metal is if we all manage to help one another out an exchange information.

Submission Rules
Obviously, there are a few basic rules to submitting a band. Please read them before submitting.

1. ALWAYS check with The Metal Archives to see if it's actually a Metal band (we do not acknowledge bands not listed)
2. Do not submit bands that are categorized as "Nu-Metal"-- it is not a genre accepted or generally acknowledged as actual Metal in the Metal community
3. Genres such as "Emo Metal", "Rap Metal", "Hardcore Metal", "Freak Metal", "Hair Metal", and "Glam Metal" will be ignored, so do not bother submitting them
4. If possible, please include the bands official website and/or MySpace page if one or the other doesn't exist
5. If the Metal Archives do not list the band in question you want to submit, and you TRULY believe they are Metal, please send either myself or Raine a link to that bands works and we will listen to it, and will debate if the band in question is actually Metal.

Haha... Too funny.

Well, I don't have a proper setup within my club to do reviews (since I cover every genre and that would get messy), so I'd love to submit some reviews.

Sign-up Sheet:
5 Favorite bands: Opeth, Pilot Speed, Cannibal Corpse, Dimmu Borgir, Radiohead (jeesus christ that was hard...)
2 Favorite genres: Metal, Indie Rock
Reason For Joining: A place for stricktly Metal sounds cool.

Accepted.

I first wrote Sludge Metal down and copy/pasted the rest to prevent from writing the codes in. My laziness missed one of the edits. :P

Thanks for pointing it out, though.

Ladies and gentleman, ignorance, defined.

So, with reviews, can they be older albums as well as new releases?

Reviews can be about bands and/or albums from the past or present. It doesn't matter, so long as it's a good review, and gives us insight into the band.

Be sure to use proper grammar and also be sure to refrain from pointless babel. I hate reviews in which the writer is in love with himself and just loves to hear himself talk.
