It works, the mew comes at level 7, is tradeable, it has all the traits of a genuine mew, because technically it is a genuine mew.

Aww you lucky son of a person! I found that out a few years after my yellow version was taken away lol. Mew is in my opinion the best pokemon ever, he may not be the strongest but since he's the only pokemon who can learn every move he might get some kick ass moves and rule all lol.

Smeargle can learn any move, mew is better of course, but if you dont use legendaries.. Spider Web, Spore, Super Fang, Belly Drum, Baton Pass, Heal Bell.. The possibilities are endless.

A real shame that Smeargle is 2HKOable by quite a few things =/ Though otherwise it'd be uber, hehe

Well either you have an exceptional catridge, or your memory is fuzzy, because PS2 _does_ unlock Mew and Celebi, but only as RENTALs for the stadium challenges.

If mew was obtainable regularly, then why would there be an uproar about the Mew trick in RBY? (IMHO)

Because of all the other things said to get mew, plus looks kinda unbelievable if you never tried it. At first I heard mew was under that truck in the game. (which I still wonder why a truck is there lol)
