Ok, since NB seems to get boring after a while, and the URPG takes forever to find a ref, and then even longer since reffing takes a while, I decided I'd see how many people would be interested in a Netbattle League on this forum. It would run similarly to the URPG, in the sense that the longer you play, the better you are. We would have "League Money" and all that other jazz.

If I see any support for this, I'll post my basic layout. But I don't want to post a whole lot for people to A) Not read it or B) Not like it anyway

Or we could have a mini draft-league kind of thing? I'd <3 some kind of draft league... But then again, that takes effort and commitment ;_;

On your idea, it'd be nice, but it's kinda hard to get going as well, and since it requires NB (as opposed to URPG needing nothing), interest levels might be restricted as well.

Just make sure it's not too similiar to the URPG. I like the idea, and I think you could do wonders with it. It's just the implementation of the game and the ideas it incorporates.

I would basically have the assistance of maybe 2 other people to run the league.

Basically, the money buys you items to use in battle. It buys you the TMs to use. It buys you new monsters you can use.

What will happen is you will get your NB League License, and a set amount of money. All certain set of basic unevolved Pokemon will be available for a set amount of that money. Some will cost more than others, but the money will have to be used wisely because you'll have to have 6 Pokemon.

Wins will earn you money. Losses will earn you about 1/4 of what you would get if you won. After a while, we'd implement gym leaders and such. We could have tournaments.

Now, for your Pokemon, they'd all be level 100 like the URPG, and they would evolve around the same way. And the moves. Since NB only allows you to have 4 moves at a time, you would have access to ALL moves that the Pokemon learns naturally through levels, and the 4 you use don't have to be the same all the time. Using your money, you can "buy" the TMs and Breeding moves to unlock their use in League battles.

The upside of using NB is that the battling engine will be the same. Battles will move quicker, and finding a ref won't be necessary. The downside is that people would have to download the program.

So, if might have ANY interest in this idea whatsoever, please give me your input.

I really like the idea of that. It'd be something I'd be interested in taking part in, although I have to re-download NetBattle... again, for like the sixth time. I keep deleting it because playing it online is kind of... like a hit smash game. It's great for a while, then it starts getting repetitive because the same thing starts to happen over and over, different strategies are few and far between. It would be interesting to have certain rules, like, none of the same move or item on one team or whatnot. And Have Gyms and stuff, that would be cool. A passworded place for PE2k members to go would be nice x_x

Well, that certainly would be neat. The main focus is, indeed, on the battling aspect of the game. I understand completely that you would want to concentrate on this one area. However, to attract more members, we'd need to make it more elaborative and such. Different ways to obtain Pokémon, prizes for beating Gym-Leaders and things of that nature.

I was thinking, and if you don't like this, totally disregard: How about asking ole Jack if he would allow this to be an official spin-off of the URPG? That way, you would only be making both bigger, and therefore better. The goal is to have activity and participants... wouldn't that attract both?

The way to go about this would be to ask Jack, but first have a set plan. Make it apparent that in no way this "division" would affect game-play of the regular URPG. This means, this new "branch" would be a new start for everyone else. You could instill a story-catching mode, and have your own gym-leaders and rules & regulations. However, to make it not detract totally from the old-school style of URPG battling, make the NB style a prize in itself.

Create a system within regular URPG, that calls for participants to have to be eligible for this new 'system.' By means of defeating certain gym leaders (possibly in certain amounts), catching a number of Pokémon, and/or length of activity within the URPG, you can access this new "privilege."

Anyway, if you don't like that idea, I'm still for creating your own. I thought that this would be an easier route to go about it, so no one would say "hey, you're ripping off URPG" and such. Hope I was of some service.

Excellent ideas, I like them a lot.

I had been formulating ideas in my head that I hadn't posted yet.

Gyms would be implemented once we got enough members. Defeating a gym leader would get you either the sponsored Pokemon of that gym, or that gym's TM.

I plan on having a lottery of some sort so people can get rare Pokemon. Not all Pokemon will be available to be bought all the time. There will be sales on rare Pokemon also. There will not be any writing stories. A way to catch a Pokemon would be to challenge someone with authority and they'll put that Pokemon on their team. If the challenger wins, he/she gets the requested Pokemon. If he/she fails, they must wait a week to try again.
