You have to get real far in the game and beat one of the end of the game bosses. Then you will be able to trade your R/S Pokemon to Colosseum.

Does it have anything to do with the amount of shadow pokemon I cought because I only have 14 and I am in the shadow pokemon lab

I don't think it dose.If I am corect you can start trading when you beat the Mayor.Boy he is hard.

After you beat the mayor you can.I traded over my best Pokemon so now I can beat everyone easier.
