OOC: Alright then.

IC: "I'm... not too sure," the ranger replied. "I'm rather new here, and I haven't had much time to visit around here. I think that not too far from here there's a tropical area, and I'm sure there're some Tropius there, or other Pokemon as well. Follow me."

I agreed to follow the ranger, but the thought of a Tropius lingered in my mind. If memory served me well, it was a Grass and a Flying-type Pokemon, which meant it would take a lot of damage from Ice-type attacks. I thought for a minute and remembered something I had been told by Ranger Hya earlier.

"You're lucky it was a Seedot the Pokemon you fought, but what if you were faced with, let's say, a Grotle?" he had said.

"You mentioned Grotle earlier, does that mean there are Turtwig too?" I said.

Without waiting for a reply, I started moving away from the tropical area. Something told me that I'd have a better chance of catching a Turtwig than taking down something big like a Tropius.

"Come on, you won't get your license if you lose track of me," I joked, waiting for the ranger to catch up.

Ooc: Judging by my performance so far, I think I'll pass fighting a Tropius.

OoC: you're out of luck. Really. Or maybe you're too lucky, I dunno. Thing is, I rolled a 98. Wonderful feat in normal circumstances, but these don't really apply as "normal". Next Pokemon you're going to meet, is a Rare one. And it's not going to be pleasant. Because I'm a bastard.

Anyway. Encounter #2 - Female Hasty Tropius, Chlorophyll. You fled.

guess it was for the best though. I mean, it's hasty! It's got Chlorophyll! And it's morning!

***

"You mentioned Grotle earlier," the trainer said. "Does that mean that there are Turtwig too?"

But without waiting for a reply, he already took off, trying to get away from a possible encounter with a female, hasty Tropius... Not a bad idea at all, in the end.

"H-hey wait!" Hya yelled as the trainer taunted him. "Don't you get off on your own, you might get lost easily! It's safer to stick closer. And... I believe Turtwig stick around there too, we can stick around and search..."

Suddenly, a pained yowl made both human flinch, and sent both Alakazam on their toes.

"What was that?" the trainer asked.

"I don't know, it seemed a Pokemon, a very injured one. I've got to check," Hya replied as he took off into the direction of the cry.

Not too far he ran, that the source of it came into view, tearing a few trees from the ground with an effortless swipe of its claws.

It was big. Much too big for the young Ranger's liking. It stood tall on its rear legs, howling painfully for unkwown reasons. Hyacinth quickly scanned the Pokemon, as he had been instructed to: its shell didn't seem cracked, actually its plates seemed sturdier than ever. The long, thick neck looked fine, the natural rock armor covering it perfectly. And the face... No, the eyes.

A big gash was visible right under the ancient Pokemon's left eye, which it held closed, and one could see the pulses of the tender, exposed meat of the Armaldo. It seemed that was the source of its pain, and that made it go on a fury blaze.

With a flick of its armored tail, it easily smashed another tree trunk, hopelessly trying to relieve itself that way from the pain.

Then it saw the humans.

And decided it was their fault.

***

Encounter #3 (Twelve encounters left)

Armaldo (unknown gender/nature/ability) 9/10, left eye injury, on rampage.

***

OoC: my suggestion is to flee. You can't even take it home, even if you catch it. However, will it be that easy?

OOC: o_o

IC: A large armored bug was thrashing about wildly, coming straight towards the ranger and I. In my haste to catch a Turtwig, I had pissed off an Armaldo. The gash on its right eye was gruesome, and it wanted to destroy something because of it.

"Let's get the hell out of here!" I yelled, trying to take off with my tail between my legs.

I had no Fire-types, fighting it was not an option. Wartortle and Porygon2 would be killed, and Scizor and Drapion were still too tired.

"Armaldo, why'd it have to be Armaldo?" I thought to myself, continuing my run.

The bug was a fast one, I knew I couldn't just run, I had to outthink it. This bug, this one-eyed bug was angry, just looking for something to take its rage out on. And at the moment Ranger Hya and I seemed to be the perfect candidates. I pulled out a Pokeball, this one contained Porygon, and blue-and-pink virtual duck.

"Porygon2, focus your energy, stay up high, but stay close, I'll need you soon," I said, "give me a sign when you're ready."

The Virtual Pokemon floated into the treetops, remaining out of Armaldo's sight. After a little while longer, the sound of flowing electricity could be heard above. At this point, I pretended to trip on a rock.

"Ranger Hya!" I yelled, waiting until he was too far away to do anything.

The rampaging Armaldo was almost upon me. It was scary sh*t, trust me. But still, I saw no other way of slowly down the bug enough for us to escape. I had to Paralyze it. Finally the big dark blue bug stood over me, revealing its claws. The look in its eyes, it was about to attack!

"Porygon2 Zap Cannon, now dammit!" I yelled.

The sleek pink-and-blue duck floated down from the trees. It unleashed the energy it had stored in a massive surge of electricity. I only hoped my plan was successful, if it didn't work, I would have to battle.

OoC:Not what I expected, but you're starting to think. Good. Here's your prize.

***

The ancient Pokemon decided to focus on Nyurgh, on the sole purpose that he was on his right, therefore on his sight. It started running towards him, and the young man started running away. However, it would do no good, so he decided to try for something different.

Hyacinth could see that Nyurgh summoned a third Pokemon, his Porygon2, and ordered it something. The virtual Pokemon steadily floated to the bug's left, so as not to be seen, and then the trainer seemed to trip.

That snapped the young inexperienced ranger out of his fearz-induced daze. "Damn, I gotta do something,"he said as he started running to the two of them, his Alakazam in tow.

But he was way too far. However, from above the Armaldo, Porygon2 steadied itself, gathering sparks of energy in front of its beak. The collected sparks formed a bluish crackling sphere, and as the half bug, half rock Pokemon prepared to strike the poor defenseless trainer, BAM! The Zap Cannon was shot and connected with its target, who was totally unaware of it coming. The blow on the head seemed to make it wobbly, as the jolts travelled down its whole body and temporairly locked its movements.

Hya was elated, and quickly tried to recall what he knew he had to do when meeting a rampaging Pokemon. First thing, restrain it. "Nyurgh, get away! Rue, Mint, tie Armaldo down with Grass Knot!"

As the trainer quickly got up and got out of the way, the two Alakazam prepared themselves to attack, drawing energy from the nature around them. The male Alakazam dipped the base of his staff in the ground, then, as the gem-tipped top glew an emerald green, he thrusted it forward, to his enemy. The female rolled her spoons, creating a small vacuum around them as an ethereal force was attracted to the silvery items. She joined them, and prepared to strike.

Both pokemon launched an ethereal green whip, which coiled itself around the bug Pokemon's legs and tripped it down. Then, with a flick of the humanshape Pokemon's wrists, the whips split and coiled themselves around its arms, then nailed themselves in the ground, effectively locking it for a little while. Armaldo whimpered, and probably cursed in its own language, as Hyacinth carefully but quickly approached it from its blind side.

Step two: calm it down. Hyacinth had been given some essences especially for those cases. He quickly drew one of them and put it under the armored Pokemon's nose, something which calmed it instantly.

Ready for step three then. Treating its injury, if any.

Suddenly a small bush rustled. Both Hya and Nyurgh turned to see, and a small four-legged Pokemon came out, with a big head and a small twig on it, two tiny leaves growing on it. Its jaws were opened wide as it beheld the scene. "... Twig?"

"Well, here's your Turtwig I guess," Hyacinth said. "I need to tend to this poor bloke here... for the little I can do. I'll keep it quiet, so you can battle the Pokemon, ok?" He waited for the trainer to reply. "Good." The ranger picked a small mobile device, and dialed a number. "Hey, boss, Hyacinth here. I was escorting a trainer and we met a rampaging Armaldo. She's got a really bad eye injury, but I'm not sure what to do." Silence. "You think so? Ok then, I will."

The small Turtwig made a few timid steps forwards, confronting the trainer.

OOC: You can bet your license I'm happy about Turtwig.

IC: "Well, here's your Turtwig I guess," Hyacinth said. "I need to tend to this poor bloke here... for the little I can do. I'll keep it quiet, so you can battle the Pokemon, ok?" He waited for me to reply.

I was going to ask what would be done about Armaldo, but Turtwig distracted me in the same way the Pokedoll distracted Seedot.

"Oh yeah Turtwig!" I yelled, making the "oh shiny" face.

This is it, the moment of truth. This little bugger almost got me killed three times. I almost released all my Pokemon into the wild. I was yelled at, and I scared my Pokemon to death. I had to run for god knows how long until I finally decided on that escape. I took a brief moment to think.

"Hmm... Turtwig is still a young one," I thought, stroking my chin, wishing I had a beard, "I could send out Wartortle, but he'd be at a disadvantage. On top of that, it really doesn't obey me. Scizor and Drapion are out of the question. Both can possibly take Turtwig out in one shot, and they were super-obedient after that double battle. Porygon2 seemed like the logical choice, it was a computer, and it is highly likely that Turtwig has already been scanned into his databanks.

"Twig?" Turtwig asked, confused as to why I haven't moved.

"Porygon2, be gentle, I know this isn't a Munchlax, but it is just as good," I said in a hushed tone, "use Tri-Attack, but aim it at the ground in front of Turtwig! When it pops up, hit it with Discharge!"

The Jolly Pokemon collected my command and accessed the function tool in its programming. It charged and fired a collection of three beams. The beams were red, yellow, and blue and they contained, Fire, Electric, and Ice-type properties respectively. If the beams were by themselves, they'd be incredibly weak. What makes Tri-Attack strong is the fact that the three beams spiral, ensuring that they would strike. If everything went according to plan (that Armaldo occurence was the first to do so today), Tri-Attack would blow the ground out from under Turtwig, sending it airborne and cutting it off from its Electric-type immunity, giving Discharge the chance to strike at full power, and possibly paralyze the little turtle.

Porygon2 quickly obliged his trainer's orders, happy to oblige, and started getting ready. It floated and charged, beads of blue, red and yellow light gathering in front of the beak and its legs, and then the three beams fired, swirling in the air and mixing one another. The small grass Pokemon shied away, but didn't bulge, as the attack hit the ground and sent a blast of dirt at the Turtwig, that steadied itself after the second-hand impact. It didn't waste time, and retaliated by swinging its young leaves and shooting them at the mid-air Pokemon, meeting with the electric blast that ensued. You close your eyes at the flash, and when you open them Turtwig isn't in sight.

A bush rustles somewhere around you, as a second array of razor-sharp leaves make their way to the Virtual Pokemon.

OOC: Crafty little turtle.

IC: Another Razor Leaf flew from the bushes in Porygon2's direction. The green leaves quickly spiraled, ready to inflict their damage on my Pokemon.

"No sweat, use Discharge," I said.

Porygon2 released its electric energy making contact with the leaves. The collision of attacks let out another flash, causing me to be temporarily blinded. I desperately wanted to fire a Tri-Attack into the bushes, but Fire and Electric-type attacks combined, I wasn't willing to start a fire. But then, if I failed to apply pressure, Turtwig would flee. Then I remembered the perfect move.

"Porygon2, use your Signal Beam now," I said, my vision finally returning, "fire a steady stream at the bushes, chances are, we'll chase Turtwig out."

The obedient virtual Pokemon did as it was told. A multi-colored light formed at its beak as it prepared its attack. It then fired a multi-colored beam into the bush, and slowly began rotating its sleek body. My only fear was that Signal Beam was an incredibly effective attack to use against a Turtwig.

OoC: So clever, really. You expect a blind attack to connect so easily? If so, I must rejoice, you're making my job with this Pokemon easier.

***

Again, the two attacks met mid-air and nullified each other, by virtue of strength Vs efficacy.

"Porygon2, use your Signal Beam now!" you order.

The loosely duck-based Pokemon nods, and prepares to fire off a Signal Beam, bits of red and green datas leaving its body and becoming flashy glowing rays, connecting with the bush that rustled earlier.

No apparent effect was achieved, other than making the bush move a little more. Then from nearby Turtwig jumps out, rams right under its opponent, then stands on its hind legs and shot its third Razor Leaf aimed at the floating Pokemon's belly, scoring a direct hit. The Pokemon grinned mischievously as it watched its opponent lose foot and hit the ground.

Hyacinth winces as he watches the scene, but then his attention is requested by the needy Armaldo with a soft whine.

After that, Turtwig rasps the ground and rams into its opponent, lowering its head to strike with an Headbutt.

OOC: Crafty indeed. I will have to scan for a nature after this. But still, there's a move named after Porygon2. I'm not sure how Conversion2 works in the RP, so forgive me if I step out of line.

IC: The green turtle dipped its head low, ready to deliver a powerful Headbutt to Porygon2.

"Go, use Conversion2!" I roared.

Porygon2 scanned the previous attack, ready to change its type to something that would hopefully weaken Turtwig's attack. Steel-type would be preferred, but there is really no wrong way to resist an attack.

Turtwig's Headbutt attack rammed straight into Porygon2's now solid steel body. My virtual duck regained composure and rose back into the air, raring to take advantage of Turtwig's temporary dizziness.

"Okay, use Tri-Attack, aim at the turtle this time!" I yelled.

Like it had done earlier, Porygon2 formed three spheres. This attack symbolized the way my team worked. The sphere on the tip of its nose was a shiny red one, embued with the burning heart and soul of Drapion and Porygon2, burning whatever was caught in its wake. The blue sphere at its right foot represented the cold fighting style of Scizor, it was cruel, but it knew when it was going too far. The yellow sphere at the left foot represented the unpredictability of my Wartortle, a mischievous little turtle. The three spheres were connected by a thin line of energy and clustered together. Tri-Attack was fired, spinning and leaving a trail of red, blue, and yellow light as it progressed towards the hard-shelled turtle.

OoC: Conversion2 will change the user type to one that is resistant to the last move it got damaged from, in this case Razor Leaf. Also, you lose STAB, so maybe you'd want to reconsider using either move. I should probably just post but... Edit your post, then I'll continue.

EDIT: *rolleyes* perhaps I forgot to mention that Conversion2 chooses a random type? Oh well, I'll let this slip, I liked the reasoning behind Tri-attack.

***

Porygon2 analyzed the previous attack it took, as its trainer issued a Conversion2. Being a Grass-type attack, it would've resisted it by becoming a Steel, Fire, Grass, Flying or Bug type. And seeing the small Grass type hurrying itself to the Virtual Pokemon, it opted for a quick Steel, then braced for the impact.

The Headbutt connected, but the opponent was ready and didn't bulge, while the Grass Pokemon seemed really surprised at the resistance it met. It dizzily shook its head after the attack...

While Porygon2 didn't waste time, and charged another, considerably less powered but still quite strong, Tri-attack, that headed straight for the turtle, and met it head on, sending it flying back. When it regained its footing, a very mean glare ensued, and the twig Pokemon quickly ran to hide itself in the bushes, invisibly sneaking around to attack.

***

Turtwig 52.00% hidden

VS

Porygon2 72.21%, Steel-typed

OOC: Whoops, my bad.

IC: The look Turtwig shot me when it regained composure was intimidating. But the sound of rustling bushes snapped me out of it. Last time, I had blindly fired Signal Beam into the brush, hoping it would chase it out. When Porygon2 was attacking one bush, Turtwig was in the bush right behind it. If it weren't for Conversion2, I could have easily been one Virtual Duck short of a party. I was curious what Turtwig had planned, surely it knew what another Headbutt would result it? What was I saying? This turtle is smarter than I am, of course it knows. I think the best option here was to let Turtwig come to me.

"Porygon2, use Recover! The second you see Turtwig, Lock-On to it!" I yelled.

Porygon2's wound-detection software was quickly put to work. The sleek pink-and-blue duck was surrounded in a yellow-orange veil. I watched as some of the physical signs of injury slowly melted away. For the second part of my command; Porygon2 focused its eyes, sending out a red laser, no different than the ones sent out by a laser pointer. If the twig Pokemon was caught in the laser, Porygon2 would be able to use its sensors to track Turtwig, wherever it went.

Ranger Hyacinth applied a makeshift patch over the Plate Pokemon's injured eye, quietly telling her to close it and stay calm, as it was likely to sting a little. The patch was dripping with a gooey liquid, a mixture of normal Healing Potion and a little of an elixir to avoid infections.

The Armaldo whimpered as the patch was applied but, under the caring pets of the young ranger, she didn't resume her rampage. "It's going to be fine, you'll feel better soon," he whispered to her as if unaware of the battle going on right next to them.

Meanwhile, the hovering Porygon2 started a quick debugging session, focusing on the deletion of sustained damage. As it did so, Turtwig didn't dare to show itself, and kept hidden, preparing its next attack.

It decided to get out right behind the Porygon2, lowering its head and launching a small seed from the sprouting twig. However, its opponent was merely waiting for it to show, and quickly used Lock-on on the grass Pokemon, making a small target appear on its forehead, as the seed planted itself in the nook of its neck. A little shock travelled through the Pokemon as the Leech Seed drew energy from it and used it to start sprouting.

***

Turtwign 52% locked on

VS

Steel-type Porygon2 95% Leech Seed(sprout)

***

OoC: since you may be a little confused at how Leech Seed will work, here's how I will make it work for this battle, since there's no canon yet.

For each move you do, the seed will zap 5% of your health, and won't heal who used it until it fully blooms.

Depending on the weather, once planted the seed will zap some health to fully grow. In clear sky, like this one, it's 2-3 attacks on your side, while if Sunny Day is on, 1 attack is enough, while in the Rain or Sandstorm 4-5, and in Hail it'll take a little longer, or might not bloom at all.

As it zaps health, vines will grow out of the seed and, when Leech Seed fully blooms, these vines will envelop the Pokemon's body and restrain it a little, making it harder to aim or dodge attacks, but not by much.

Now off you go.

OOC: Very interesting. And Leech Seed is a considered a Grass-type attack, isn't it? Yet, it is not anchored into the ground. That knowledge may prove useful in case this doesn't work.

IC: After recieving a substantial damage recovery, Turtwig finally decided to attack. Like before, it charged from behind my Virtual Pokemon and fired a single seed. The seed grew a small sprout that latched onto my Pokemon and absorbed some health to help it grow.

However, Porygon2 and I had anticipated that we would need to take some damage for our plan to work. So the attack came as no surprise to my Pokemon, it shook it off and set Turtwig into its sights. I had two options in attacks: Hyper Beam and Zap Cannon.

Hyper Beam was not as strong as before, because Porygon2 was a Steel-type now. Then again, it was guranteed not to be negated by anything Turtwig could do. Zap Cannon still isn't as strong as Hyper Beam, but it has the highest chance of paralysis out of any move, barring Thunderwave of course. However, if Turtwig were to dig itself into the ground, it would become immune to the electricity, and I would just waste another perfectly good oppurtunity. I didn't have too much time to think, the Leech Seed would continously sap Porygon2's health, and I had know clue what happens when the sprout is fully grown. I decided then and there to go for the sure thing.

"Porygon2! Turtwig is in your sights! Use Hyper Beam. But remember, hold back a little, okay?" I said.

Being a floating computer and having the Jolly nature, Porygon2 was a good judge in how much punishment its opponent could take. A bright orange ball appeared at the tip of its nose. Turtwig realized the threat of this powerful attack, but thanks to Lock-On, the tip of Porygon2's nose would follow it wherever it went. After a few seconds of charging, Porygon2 unleashed a large orange beam. To my relief, it did not look like it was fired at full powerful. There were two things that I would rather have happen. First, I hope Porygon2's calculations are so close, that Turtwig is extremely close to fainting. Or, I wish that Porygon2's calculations were off and Turtwig survived after taking some damage. As long as Turtwig was still fighting, I'd have no problem with the outcome.

Porygon2 began hastily analyzing its opponent, but... Hyper Beam wasn't a good choice. It would never have gone agaisnt his master's order, though, so it prepared the energy beam and fired it, trying to hold back as much as possible...

Turtwig knew all too well that that attack could've meant its end, so it tried to dive and duck, but Lock-On was in effect, and the orange beam simply followed it around. It even tried to hide again in the bushes, but it couldn't shake off the attack.

A small explosion echoed in the area, and Turtwig rolled on the floor, fainted.

Hyacinth probably had a witty reply at this, but he was too busy with the Armaldo to care...

Encounter #4 -Naughty Male Turtwig, Overgrow FAINTED.

Your fault for using Hyper Beam. Zap cannon would've been so much better.

OOC: Shoot. And let me guess, Turtwig is fainted so my Healing Potion is nothing doing right?

IC: Porygon2 displayed a look of disappointment as Turtwig lied on the ground, knocked out. I did not blame my Pokemon however, my old personality caused me to turn to the ranger, but I saw how tentatively he cared for that Armaldo and knew that it was my fault. I was once again torn, I had built myself up too much, and of course I over-analyzed things. It seemed like this trip to the National Park failed to serve its purpose. I was supposed to shake the struggle of the outside world, instead my heart was weighed down more than ever. I almost, almost, considered giving up. Hell, I was extremely close.

"I think I wanna..." I was about to say, when a white flash in my bag interrupted me.

To my surprise, my blue turtle popped out of his Pokeball. He defied me at every turn, so why not defy me now. I picked up a pair of Pokeballs, first recalling my painfully loyal Porygon2. The second red beam was aimed at Wartortle. The naughty swiftly avoided the beam, sticking out his tongue. I sweatdropped, and quickly fired another beam. This time the beam successfully snagged Wartortle, but the ball burst open again. I raised the ball, once again ready to retrieve my Pokemon, when it suddenly ran off, deeper into the garden.

"Wartortle, stop!" I yelled, "we can't get too far away from Ranger Hya!"

But my Pokemon didn't listen to me, he kept running, but when it was barely in sight, he stopped and waved his arm, signalling me to follow. I turned to find Ranger Hya still working on Armaldo. It was a tough choice: leave the most reliable defense and save my Pokemon, or stick with the Ranger and lose Wartortle to the wild Grass-types? I watched the ranger for a minute, but the yelp of a turtle snapped me from my daze. Something was attacking Wartortle!

"Ranger Hya, Wartortle is in trouble, take care of Armaldo, I'll be back as soon as I can!" I yelled, not waiting to hear the ranger's reply.
