Release Date Update: Pokemon Colosseum!

-07/31/03-

The US release date for Pokemon Colosseum is known for December 4, 2003. Since that is the date several online stores have listed it for, including the online store: Amazon. However, a popular gaming store, EBGames, has listed a release date for March 8, 2004. It’s hard to say currently which date is really the one. Though, it seems the March 2004 release date is more realistic, since the game releases in Japan in November 2003. It’s still early, so even with the dates we have, these release dates do tend to change. December 2003 or March 2004, take your pick. We’ll learn of a more accurate release date in the near future.

Pokemon Colosseum is for the Nintendo GameCube system. It follows the idea of Pokemon Stadium, battling with Pokemon with 3D Pokemon and surroundings. Pokemon Colosseum will feature the new Pokemon from Ruby/Sapphire. A new mode in the game will allow you to capture Pokemon and upload them to your Ruby/Sapphire game.

An Improved Eon Ticket Tour Schedule!

-07/31/03-

An improved schedule of the Eon Ticket Summer Tour is now available at the official sites. You can find the entire list of location and dates of the tour here: Pokemon Games: Eon Ticket. Or you can use a handy schedule tool here to sort out the location and dates for a particular state: Pokemon.com: Eon Ticket. The time for each location is from 12PM-4PM. The Eon Ticket Summer tour runs from July 19th to September 1st.

What is the Eon Ticket?

For Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire, using the ticket (it's an item for you in the game), you use the ticket to board the S.S. Tidal at Lilycove City. It will take you to the Southern Island. At the Southern Island, you will be able to capture Latias in Pokemon Ruby version, or Latios in the Sapphire version. Without the Eon Ticket, you get the chance to capture Latios in Ruby, and Latias in Sapphire. So using the Eon Ticket, you’ll be able to capture the other one to finish your Latias and Latios siblings set.

Yes, you read that right, Pokemon 4Ever will not be in theaters, instead, it will go out on DVD/VHS immediately. Pokemon 4Ever features the legendary time traveling Pokemon, Celebi. Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire Tops Selling Charts in the UK!

-07/31/03-

Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire, released on the 25th of this month, took 1st and 2nd for the UK's best selling games chart for the week. Pokemon Ruby came in first, and Sapphire took in second. What’s amazing of course, its two different versions, and are counted as two separate games. So if you count Ruby and Sapphire as just one game, which I think it should be counted like that, as one game, Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire would be at number one by an even wider margin. Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire beat out popular games such as Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness and Enter the Matrix.

Surprised? You shouldn’t be. After making a big splash here in the US, similar popularity in the UK was not out of the question. The first game for the Nintendo’s popular GBA handheld, with improved graphics and a whole new batch of Pokemon, there is no surprise for the success.

Pokemon Colosseum: Snatching Pokemon, but Why?

-07/27/03-

Screenshot of New Mode to Capture Pokemon

As we have learned already, in Pokemon Colosseum (in the news of 07/14/03: "Capture Pokemon in Pokemon Colosseum"), you will be able to capture Pokemon and transfer them to your Ruby/Sapphire game. These Pokemon you can capture include Pokemon not obtainable in Ruby/Sapphire, though exactly what Pokemon are available for capture is not known yet. The idea is that you play as a trainer, and “snatch” away Pokemon from other trainers. This can be done through a new mode found in Pokemon Colosseum, sort of like a RPG/Story type mode.

This kind of “snatching” of Pokemon has obviously raised a lot of questions. We know that happens, but why is that happening? Are you playing as an evil character or is there a reasonable (good) reason that this is happening? Quite frankly, we don’t know yet, the details are left too vague at this point. There may be a good explanation for this kind of stealing of Pokemon, which, that’s what I would bet on. I would find it hard to believe that Nintendo would make a game that would promote such stealing of Pokemon. There should be a good reason for it, and I hope there is a good reason for it. We'll just have to wait and see.

If any new details surfaces, you’ll be sure to see it here in the news.

Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire Released in the UK!

-07/27/03-

Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire has been released in the UK. The games were released on the 25th. The game is selling for about £30 (pounds). Unfortunately, the Ruby/Sapphire released in the UK does not include the e-Reader cards like the US version. Neither does it have the coupon for the $10 off an e-Reader. The e-Reader device is scheduled to be released in the UK in November. But of course, the most important thing is that Ruby/Sapphire is released, and I'm sure fans in the UK are happy that it finally did release.

Many people in the UK have had the Ruby/Sapphire game even before the release. Several stores in the UK were selling the Ruby/Sapphire game as imports from the US. That started happening around in April of this year. However, July 25th, is the official release date.

Seventh Pokemon Movie Confirmed!

-07/21/03-

With the release of the sixth Pokemon movie well under way in Japan, it has now been learned that there will be indeed a seventh Pokemon movie, which will be released in Japan sometime in 2004. At the end of the sixth movie, viewers we’re given the good news. Obviously it’s still early, what the seventh Pokemon movie will be about is still not known yet. Expect more details about the movie after the 6th movie is over and done with in Japan.

Back in the US, we’re still awaiting the release of the sixth Pokemon movie. However, that might be a while, since Pokemon Heroes, the fifth movie, was just released in May of this year.

So be prepared for more Pokemon films!

Sixth Pokemon Movie Released In Japan!

-07/19/03-

The sixth Pokemon movie is now released in Japan. The title of the movie roughly translates into “The Wishing Star of Seven Nights.” This latest film features the new legendary Pokemon in Ruby/Sapphire, Jirachi. Many other new Pokemon from Ruby/Sapphire can be seen in this film as well.

As the for the US release for this movie, there’s no official release date for the movie yet. There’s not even a distributor signed up for this movie. Warner Brothers released the first, second, and third movies. While Miramax, released the fourth and fifth movies. Miramax is only under contract to distribute the fourth and fifth movies, which they already have released. Any updates on the sixth movie situation in the US will be posted here in the news at Pokemon Elite 2000.

Capture Pokemon in Pokemon Colosseum!

-07/14/03-

There just had to be a way to get the unobtainable Pokemon in Ruby/Sapphire, now we know the answer lies on Pokemon Colosseum.

Pokemon Colosseum, follows the idea of Pokemon Stadium, just with the new Pokemon from Ruby/Sapphire of course. However, we now have learned that Pokemon Colosseum will also be a way to capture Pokemon. The infamous Coro Coro gaming magazine of Japan broke the news. In a new mode, sort of like a RPG or Story mode, you will be able to capture Pokemon that are unobtainable in Ruby/Sapphire, but it is unclear at the moment how many different Pokemon are available for capture. So, you’ll be able to transfer those Pokemon you captured into your Ruby/Sapphire game.

It seems that you actually steal Pokemon from other trainers to get those Pokemon. While weakening the Pokemon in a battle with another trainer, you’ll be able to steal the Pokemon, and claim it as yours. Of course, such stealing of Pokemon never existed in the Pokemon games before. The very thing you would expect Team Rocket thing to do of course.

This news is still very new, so further details are not known at the current time. You’ll be sure to hear about any new details about this new mode here at Pokemon Elite 2000.
