Rukario or Lucario? Official Site May Have Solved Mystery!

Since Rukario has been revealed in Coro Coro, there has been a lot of talk whether the names would transfer to Romanization as "Rukario" or "Lucario." Although both could be correct, it's a matter which one will be used. We may now have that answer.

The official Japanese website for the 8th Pokemon movie has been updated with the new Pokemon's silhouette (the same one we have seen already). You can visit the page here: http://www.pokemon2005.jp/movie/index.html .The filename of the image at the official site for the new Pokemon is named "rukario.gif".

Although this is just a name of a file, we should assume that Rukario will be the name unless official sources state otherwise.

Movie Logo With Rukario

Also updated on the website is the movie's title grouped with Rukario name (Rukario's name is the Japanese characters in a blue outline). The Japanese text on the website teases and asks will this Rukario Pokemon turn out to be the "wave guiding hero" as mentioned in the title of the movie, "Mew and the Wave Guiding Hero." This was also mentioned in the Coro Coro magazine. Somehow, I think that gives it away already.

Nintendo Trademarks: Nintendo V-Pocket and PCGP!

Nintendo has registered the trademarks for two items called "Nintendo V-Pocket" and "PCGP," both include images. Let the speculation begin.

Nintendo V-Pocket - PDA?

There's plenty of speculation, but no official word. What's the speculation for Nintendo V-Pocket? The word is that it might be a PDA (Personal Digital Assistant). Some have gone further to say that it may be a PDA feature for the Nintendo DS. Of course, none of this is confirmed officially, as Nintendo does not comment on speculation.

PCGP - Pokemon related title possibly?

As for the PCGP, this may concern Pokemon. Nintendo and Game Freak registered the trademark for PCGP. Since Game Freak is the developer of the Pokemon games, the speculation here is that this may turn out to be a Pokemon title. The beginning "P" may stand for Pokemon.

Since so many people are taking a guess at it, I'll make my guess. The best guess I can come up with for the PCGP is that it stands for: Pokemon Championship Grand Prix. Why not? Mario Kart has been a popular title, a Pokemon type game based on the same thing would be fun.

Again, this is pure speculation as Nintendo has not announced their intentions with these trademarks.

New Pokemon: Rukario (UPDATE)!

Here's the complete page from the Coro Coro magazine revealing the new Pokemon, Rukario.

Also, if you notice from the image, the three Regi Pokemon will also be featured in the 8th Pokemon movie (Regirock, Regice, and Registeel).

New Pokemon

New Pokemon: Rukario!

Japanese gaming magazine, Coro Coro, revealed a new Pokemon named Rukario. The Pokemon will be featured in the 8th Pokemon movie, "Mew and the Wave Guiding Hero."

Based on the image from Coro Coro, I have created this silhouette to give us a better look at what it looks like.

The first that comes to mind is Mewtwo and Blaziken. Also reminds me Anubis, an Egyptian god.

Rukario joins Munchlax (or the Japanese name, Gonbe), as the currently known Pokemon beyond the current 386. See the New Pokemon section for more details on Munchlax.

Pokemon Colosseum XD GC!

Gaming site IGN reported that EBgames have posted a title named "Pokemon Colosseum XD GC." The release date was set for November 14, 2005 (a US release date). The price tag is $49.99.

If you recall back in December, the first screenshots of the next Pokemon game for GameCube (no title released) was revealed in the Coro Coro Magazine:

It's not sure whether or not these screenshots are for Pokemon Colosseum XD GC, but we do know that these screenshots are for the next Pokemon GameCube game. Nintendo has not confirmed anything so far. From the looks of things, it looks like the next Pokemon GameCube game will be what it looks like, Pokemon Colosseum XD GC.

The screenshots do look similar to the story mode for Pokemon Colosseum, so a Pokemon Colosseum XD GC title does make sense.

Pikachu SP!

A special limited edition Pikachu SP will be released in Japan this month. Reservations for the Pikachu SP will begin on February 18 and end on February 28. The system will be available on March 5. Only limited quantities are available and they're expected to sell quick.

The GBA SP is in yellow (of course), it shows the Pikachu face on the body of the handheld and a silhouette of Pikachu on the inside.

It's not known whether or not the Pikachu SP will make a run in the US or anywhere else. However, the limited editions Groudon SP and Kyogre SP did make a run at the Pokemon Center NY store, both of which are sold out. The Torchic SP is also gone. If you still want to get a Pokemon themed GBA SP, your options are the Charizard SP and the Venusaur SP (released to celebrate the launch of FireRed/LeafGreen). The Charizard SP and Venusaur SP are currently being sold exclusively at the Pokemon Center NY store or at their online store at www.pokemoncenter.com .

Pokemon Center NY Store's Future!

Pokemon Center NY

The Pokemon Center NY store closed their doors last month for renovations and was announced that it will reopen in spring 2005.

So what do we know about the store's future?

On Nintendo's official job listing page, it is currently listing an opening for a Retail Store Manager and a Retail Assistant Manager for the location at Rockefeller Center, New York for what it calls a "Nintendo concept store" (which is also where the Pokemon Center NY store is located).

Here's what part of the job listing says:

"We are currently seeking a Retail Store Manager to oversee operations of an upcoming Nintendo concept store in Rockefeller Center, New York. This newly designed, state-of-the-art facility will allow Nintendo to highlight new videogames and products, driving customers through the store and creating an environment of the 'ultimate' game play experience." [Full Article]

The PokemonCenter.com announcement says:

"It is with great pleasure that we announce some exciting changes taking place here at the Pokemon Center NY. Beginning January 19, 2005 our doors will temporarily close to allow us to undergo extensive renovations. We will reopen in the spring 2005.

What does this mean for Pokemon fans? It means an even greater selection of exclusive Pokemon products and much, much more. The new flagship store will be a one-stop shop for all the latest Nintendo video games, platforms and accessories, plus, there'll be state-of-the-art interactive stations for you to experience, first-hand, our exciting product line-up. While the store is under renovation, we invite you to shop for Pokemon merchandise at www.pokemoncenter.com, the "only official online headquarters for everything Pokemon." [Full Article]

Of course, this only gives us hints on what to expect. One thing you can expect is too see more Nintendo related products, not just Pokemon products. It looks like it will be one big Nintendo store, and obviously, it will have the Pokemon products (as the announcement mentions "an even greater selection of exclusive Pokemon products") along with other Nintendo related goods. The store is huge, with two floors, so it will interesting to see what the new renovations will bring.

Oh, by the way, don't worry about Pokemon's "existance" in this new renovation, whatever it may turn it to be like. What were the top selling Nintendo games last year? Pokemon FireRed and Pokemon LeafGreen. And the year before that? Pokemon Ruby and Pokemon Sapphire. You get the point.

For now, we can only wait and see how everything will turn out. Any new updates on this will be posted here in the news.

A Soccer Contract for 85 Million Pokemon Cards?!

Greg Cote of The Miami Herald reported that, "A 9-year-old in Brazil already is being scouted by top international soccer clubs." He then jokingly said, "He is demanding a record-setting contract totaling 85 million Pokemon cards."

Yea, that's a lot of Pokemon cards. But that's no where near all the Pokemon cards in the world, over 13 billion Pokemon cards have been sold to date globally.

Student Sells His Pokemon Collection to Help Tsunami Victims!

From the Oregonian:

AIMEE GREEN, LAKE OSWEGO -- As part of 9-year-old Jackson Schwarz's reading class at Hallinan Elementary School, he pored over the pages of "It's Our World, Too!"

The book, by Phillip Hoose, tells the story of real-life kids and teens who make a difference: A boy who uses his allowance to fix beat-up bikes for needy children; a girl who feeds the homeless by seeking donations from a bagel shop.

Inspired by the book, Jackson told his mom that he wanted to raise money to help the tsunami victims in South Asia. His idea? Sell his Pokemon card collection to people driving by.

His mom was both shocked and proud.

"In the past, he's been able to give away some of his stuff, but never his Pokemon cards," said Marlo Schwarz, adding that her son's collection numbers in the thousands. [Click Here: Full Story]
