I always knew my japanese name (Jurii) but I never knew what it meant. Youthful, tee hee. ^w^

but what's the difference between Hiragana, Katakana, and Kanji?

Katakana was the traditional, and Kanji is the modern style. My dad still writes Katakana though. Hiragana, dunno.

Kanji is used to represent words, where Hiragana and Katakana represent syllabels. The difference between Hiragana and Katakana is that Katakana is sharper looking and used mostly for writing of foreign words. Hence, why you see shop signs and such mostly in Katakana.
