Chapter one. Blue fire.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Beep...Beep...Beep…
Wha… what... happened..? Why... can’t.. I feel my left side of my body?..
Kituana’s eyes slowly opened, and found that she was what looked like a hospital bed. She was in a quite comfortable position, her body lined with the soft huge, white bed, and the dark red pillows were stacked underneath her head and arms. It was dark in the room; all the lights were off, besides the orange candle that was on the cabinet near to her. There were several windows, one small, that was on top of the room, making a sort of effect as though looking at the sky. Another window was right by the bed she was laying down at, thick red curtains that cover it up. The blanket was raised up to her neck, designed with silk and cotton, while the night was somewhat cold. In one of the corners, there was a desk, and shelves with several medical books in them. Her eyes quickly adjusted to the darkness, so she could see several more things that the regular human eye could. There was a bit of carpet on the floor, while around the desk tiles took place instead. Another desk, a smaller one, held a “Lub-bub,” that was beeping, apparently measuring Kituana’s heart-beat. Kituana looked around her, lying in the cozy, warm bed, and took in everything that she saw without moving.
He stomach went up as she breath in each breath, as though each one was her first.
Where am I? It seems as though I’m in a hospital of some sort..but...why?
She turned over, to see the wires that lead from her chest and stomach to the “Lub-bub.”
Beep...Beep...Beep...Beep....
Her dark eyes reflecting light from the candle, as they adjusted to the darkness, ignoring her left side of the body feeling however numb, as though it was plunged in icicles.
She didn’t really look at her body, although she couldn’t feel it. The soft linnet covering of the blanket, kept her warm, covering most of her lower body, up to her neck, as she felt the wires buzz on her, a soft nudge. As curiosity took a strong hole on her, she then attempted to get up from where she was lying, but then pain suddenly shot up through her left side, and the pain stung her, as though thousands of knifes were being drawn into her skin, as though her blood was cold.. She shivered, and plopped back on the bed, wondering why she felt so much pain. Crickets that hidden started chirping, breaking the quietness that was there.
Beep.Beep.Beep.Beep....Beep...Beep...Beep..
The “Lub-bub” was calculating her heartbeats, and she noticed that the beeping noise got faster and then back to normal after this small shock of pain. She lied still, calculating and waiting for the sting in her body, mainly her left side, to stop. The shadows were still, and it was as though there was no one else in the building but her, but she knew that people were there, they just are sleeping.
The pain subsided from her, and turned her eyes to face the calendar that was located above the “Lub-bub.” As she looked at the calendar, it told that it was the 25 of Luran, almost two whole months since...since she remembered anything...
She realized that she might not be able to remember anything...
“No...”
She softly whispered to herself, her voice apparently hoarse from not being used in what seems like such a long time.
I have to remember something.. My name..Kituana, age 15... brother Shuro, mother’s Yukina. Father’s Urmaro...As she tried recalling what happened, soon a headache formed, however then not allowing her to remember anything. Yet she still allowed herself to look and remember what happened, so she can figure out why she was here in the first place. Light, but yet thick smoke traveled through her...
“Epp!”
She gave a small yipe, a fire.. a blue fire slipped into her mind, and acted as though it was consuming her..
Beep...Beep...Beep..Beep beep beep beep beep.......beep...beep...beep...beep...
Man that “Lub-bub” was getting annoying.
She allowed her mind to silence itself, as she them started digging deep into her thoughts. Time slowly passed by, as she then noticed and paid attention to the quietness that was surrounding her, more quiet then it was when she woke up, even the crickets hushed.
The silence started to creep her out a bit, but then she decided that she should keep herself from freaking out by figuring out why her body was numb.
Staying still, she took off the heavy blanket; she gave a small gasp at what she saw. Kituana’s body was still; her head was leering upward to find out what was wrong.
She slowly pulled herself upward, careful not to do anything that could trigger the pain again. Her entire left side of the body was halfway covered in scorch marks, burns that covered almost her whole arm and leg, most of her lower body wrapped up in bandages. One of her legs covered up in red bandages, as though it was bleeding for hours.
She gave a sigh, covered it back up, and lied back down, her head already aching simply trying to remember something, anything that happened during the time she had these.
Then… what did happen then, what happened to me?
Her eyes closed up, thinking that perhaps it would be easier to recall something if she did so, and relaxed a bit so that perhaps she could fall back to sleep, forgetting that she ever woke up. Sounds caught her attention, but she tried to ignore it.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And that's all I have for now... T_T ^^ tell me..what do you think?
T_T it sucks... ^^ lol..
More.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
. Sounds caught her attention, but she tried to ignore it.
Footsteps echoed through the long hallways that were outside her room’s door. Then as they came by the door, she listened while the door that was lock slowly open; the keys jingling it open. She knew by the sounds of voices that there were two people that entered to where she was sleeping at, but it didn’t bother her as much as it usually does, it wasn’t her home after all. They both came in, and then started talking, and she heard the words that they were saying. A second candle flickered around the two people, giving no notice to Kituana, as they both spoke softly trying not to be overheard.
Though her eyelids, she saw the candle that had a green light around it, as the shadows started speaking, whispering to each other.
“I’m sorry to interrupt you at such a late time sire, but...”
“Yes, I already know that.”
“But then sir, why are we-“
“It wasn’t supposed to have happened, it was all a mistake.”
“Yes sir, but what about the survivors?”
Kituana heard a long sigh, not knowing which one made that sigh. Pity took and she continued to listen in that dark room while the two strangers talked. The watch that one of them carried ticked off each second, as the strangers waited for an answer.
“...Just try to take care of them while you can, at any rate.”
“Will do, but I must ask, why are we in a room with a patient of the hospital?”
“Simply because we needed a quiet place to talk. This patient has been in a coma for about two months at least.”
“I suppose, but what about the park? Sire, it would be much easier if we talked somewhere else.”
“I have my reasons. I know it sounds strange, but I feel as though this room held something of importance to me. Perhaps this was the first place that I met my true love the first time... ah yes. Such times it was, I remember that-“
“Sire? Not to be rude, but isn’t that irreverent?”
“Not at all. Listen, even if you do tell the government this, they wouldn’t believe it...If we tell them the truth, then they wouldn’t feel safe.”
“But sir, if we just tell them that a simple miscalculation-“
“They wouldn’t listen; I worked here for 7 years, so I should know better-”
“Yes sire. I must ask with curiosity, who is this patient?”
“No one for the moment. Listen, we should talk about this somewhere else, but as for now, I do not have any choice.”
“bu..but... SIRE!!! You must have other plans! Come now! Please Sire, I beg of you-”
A stifle took and then the noise of a clap came.
“Not here...”
The other one was breathing hard, as though he was trying to prevent something from happening. The breathing got louder as Kituana heard the desk open, and some shuffling of papers, occurred.
The shadows out of her halfway closed eyes showed that the person was opening the drawers like what she heard, as the other one was sprawled over the wall, and he retook his composure after a few seconds.
“...may I speak?”
“Go ahead, but whatever you say, it wouldn’t convince me.”
“Yea...but remember what happened last time? You truly almost died... and if you do this... there’s no turning back. You know that you will dwell in that damned realm until...”
“The stories are to be proven true. This is for the world’s sake. You know that there is no other way.”
“No. Use someone who is dieing, use someone that is already dead... just...”
“There IS no way. I have to be the one to go. I must.”
“If you do go, then you HAVE to...”
“That’s the road that I have to take. I rather not speak about this. Follow me.”
The other started whining, “.....yes sire.”
The candle was still lit, carried by the one with the keys. The door creaked open, as the two strangers, one slowly walking out, and the other with sweat on him. The door closed, the conversation ceased off, and the footsteps died away.
.She shivered a bit after they left, amazed that they would talk about something so deep in such an area where she is.
Why would they talk about something so important here and now? A dieing person? What is it? I wish I knew, this is getting to be so much for me in such a short time.
She rested up a bit, and opened her eyes yet again to look at the scars once again that were clearer now then before because of the candles position that moved nearer to her. Looking closer at the burns, she found that they were a deep blue scar, etched deep, barrowed into her light skin. As she slowly traced around them with her fingers, coldness leaked out from her skin. Her eyes narrowed a tad bit, as she followed the fire design on her skin, as though fire was dancing a pattern for her to follow.
Time passed by, as Kituana’s mind was occupied with everything that she could think of for that time and moment.
A desire came over her, and she then longed to see her family. She lied there in the dark, wondering if her family is all right and anxiety started forming. As far as she knows, she could have had surgery and almost died without knowing, as well hoping that her family was all right. Concern for them overtook all of her other emotions.
Her eyes slowly got heavier, and weariness started taking place on her, and soon without knowing, she drifted off back into sleep.
Fire, pain, the rapid fire of ice scream, take pure lives, and fulfill our taste for mortal flesh....
Screams surrounded the darkness that was overtaking the now damp and cold city. Light blue smoke filled with poison surrounded around the whole town, there was nowhere to hide. The cars crashed into each other, coldness stole the hearts and fear replaced it.
People were going mad, chaos that snapped the mind and turned the whole place mad.
The bodies of strangers and friends lied out open in the street, the once rich gardens now soiled with black dust. Alarms going off in futile events, death was the only choice or so it seemed. The stormy dark typhoons held the sky for ransom, as though saying, “Give me mortals’ lives or the sun.”
Blood rose up from the air, panic striked in all hearts.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Shuro!!”
“Kit? Sis? HELP ME!”
The bus that the sister and brother took was shaking violently, the bags toppling over, landing on the other passengers on the bus. The driver jumped out of the bus, but alas got runned over by a truck, as his blood covered the cemented area of the sidewalk.
On top of the bus, the blue fire was turning it to crystal ice, the icicles hung off and the clouds poured hail from the sky.
Several of the other passengers were trying to get out as well, the bus continuously moving without a driver in the seat, killing more people in the street itself.
The passengers jumped off; or rather some killed themselves, thinking death is better then staying here and fight dieing.
Kituana yelled out, “Yeah right!? I want to live mate, get us out!”
“I’m trying! The window is stuck!”Shuro yelled back, as the window on the second floor wouldn’t open no matter how hard he tried to push it open.
Kituana then ran over, accidentally tripping several other people, and ran to the window next to Shuro.
“Lemme try then!”
Shuro tried to keep his balance, while Kituana was holding tight on the window, and opened it wide using great effort.
Shuro lost his balance, and slid over to the other end of the bus as it spun out of control. Kituana then lost her grip on the window. Shuros’ head thumped on one of the other windows, the bus now almost completely empty besides the dead bodies lying on the floor. Kituana struggled to get up, and then fell over to the side as the bus bounced over from a pole, hitting one of the buses corners, the fire still growing on top of the bus.
Kituana looked out of the bus, and found that the bus was over a bridge, about to topple over into the black water....
“Oh dear Lord.... SHURO!!!”
“Kituana, Wha..What is it?!”
Before either could get a hold of one another, the water then filled the bus through the window, burrowing it into the deep lake.
Kituana’s eyes snapped open, and she saw that she was underwater, looking for Shuro.
Air!! Kituanas’ thoughts ran straight at that and then swam upward at the bus again, as it sink into the depts. Going deeper and deeper into the water..
It was starting to get pitch black, as the coldness started to affect her swimming. She found the window that was open, and struggled outward. For a brief moment, she was stuck in that position going out, but then twisted her body and then swam upwards, cutting her leg while doing so. Her leg was bleeding hard, affecting her swimming, but she still managed to swim upward. Underwater, everything was quiet, peaceful, even in this time; something about it was usually peaceful...
Kituana wanted to stay underneath... but yet she has to get air.
Looking back down at the bus, the fire was still dancing, the water near it turned to ice, and part of the water stayed still.
She saw the small echoing of light blues as it transported through the water, as she continued to graze on upward, air running short, her blood spreading in the lake.
She kept her wits, knowing that it was best to keep on swimming, just a few more feet, and then I can breathe.
Her leg was feeling numb, and she knew that she already lost a lot of blood.
She gave a huge gasp for air as she hit surface, and then the noises reawoken her, and then remembered..
“Shuro....”
She then started swimming, and called out her brother’s name.
The screams around the top of the bridge was even louder then before, or at least that’s what it felt like. The blue smoke was still encircling around wherever she looked.
Around the lakes end on either side, the blue fire continued to grow, the forest on one side, the city on the other. As she swam, as the icy fire touched the lake, the part it was touching turned to ice. The rest of the lake was soon freezing, and Kituana still didn’t find Shuro.
After several minutes, the fire was soon somewhere in the lake, and was consuming it at an alarmingly rate. The blue fire was skipping across as though it was a mere glass filled with dead leaves.
If I don’t get out of here before the whole lake freezes over..
Kituana stopped, and almost drowned at that pause, but resurfaced herself.
“SHURO!”
She found her brother cold, floating on top of some sort of wood, the blue fire going deep within his body and out.
Oh God. Please don’t let him be dead...
The smoke from the fire was dark blue in color, poisoning the used to be clean, calm air. The dark smoke surrounded Kituana and Shuro, but she was still able to remember where the shore was. Kituana pulled herself on the piece of wood with Shuros body, and started rowing with her arms back to the closest shore which was somewhere in the east..
Her arms were getting tired, her body already weary from the blood loss from her leg, and her eyesight getting bleaker from the second.
“Clunk.” The small noise startled her, and reawakened her from passing out. The piece of wood stroked land, and then got out, carrying Shuro’s body out with her, she crawled on land, apparently about to fall at any moment.
The fire was following them, and the whole lake was frozen over, as the smoke clouded Kituana and Shuro, she checked for a pulse and breathing on Shuro.
Therefore, he is alive... but barely...
She laid his body near her chest, and lied down on the cold dead ground.
Please... I just want everything to be... ok...
It was cold and dark, the sky hailing on them, making them shiver even more, as the wind sings a soft song through the willow trees on the ground. The fire was dancing on the ground, as though it was taunting them. Her eyes got heavier, the smoke filled up Kituana’s lungs, and then she remembered no more.
Kituana’s eyes flashed open, her heart was bursting to get out as she felt her forehead, covered in cold sweat.
She was shaking, and she tried to sit up, shivering on the dream that seems so real..
It can’t be real.. can it? N.nn...no... it can’t.. it isn’t! and yet, why does it all seem so familiar?..
Breathing hard, it took her a while to notice that someone was sitting down on the chair right in front of her. Out of embarrassment she blushed and looked up.
“Good afternoon.”
The stranger didn’t move from where he was, but looked at Kituana.
He was wearing casual clothing, black shoes, a tux, and a leather black suitcase with him.
His face that looks so young and yet seems to have great wisdom, although as tired and exhausted he seems to be. Kituana recognized the voice as the one who had to do something important, that his friend didn’t want him to do so., whatever that may be.
“Err...good afternoon to you to sir.”
The stranger then introduced himself, and told her his name.
“I’m Richard, call me Rich. And you are..?”
“Kituana...”
A pause of silence met briefly, causing Kituana to feel somewhat uneasy.
“Err... why are you here?”
She didn’t know what to say, but as she looked at the stranger, Richard, him.. what does he want? He looks like that he was around in his mid thirties...but he seems so distraught for one of age like him, as she looked, Kituana saw that he was as though about to break up in tears, as though what he needs to do wasn’t associated with her, but alas hoping that she would help him.
“What is it? If there is anything I can do... you do not seem well. What is it? What is the matter?”
Rich sighed, a bit with surprise that a mere child like Kituana knew how he felt.
“It’s nothing. I just want to drop off some clothes for you. I work in this company that donates to the kids that... lost... their....”
Kituana heart stopped, wondering if the dream was true...but still...
“Lost what? They’re clothing?”
Another silence held up, and Kituana stopped looking at Rich, hoping that it wasn’t true...
Rich looked at the carpeted floor, and was quiet.
“They didn’t tell you, did they?”
His last remark was more of a statement rather then a question.
Kituana’s heart raced faster, her eyes widened, this was torture compared then that dream with the fire, if he carries on like this, then it means...
“No, it, it can’t be… Yukina, Urmaro, Shuro?”
Rich remained quiet.
“I best know that those are the names of your family, isn’t it?”
She remained quiet as well, knowing that was what happened.
Kituana felt the soft tears slowly slide down her delicate face, her acheing head bowed, the blanket stained with her salty tears, and her whole body started aching.
Rich noticed that she was doing so, young enough to be his child if he ever had one, and cared for her like a parent. So was in his nature for doing so, even if he has been working in donating to those people for 7 years..
While her body and mind was deep in confusion and pain, she then remembered her dream. Rich sat down beside her, and gave her a handkerchief that he just bought several minutes ago.
“I understand that this may be tough for you, but it’ll be ok...”
What is he getting off?! Telling me that it’ll be ok. It’s my family, I’ll die without them.. no one to hug, or to care for, nothing! Why should I even live if they are gone!
Another thought came into her, but it was softer...
You should live because they loved you. They wouldn’t want you to die for their sake, would they?
No, I guess not, still, this feeling, I want it to be gone, know what I mean?
Yea.. I do. But running away from it wouldn’t help, if you die, then what?
...I see... well... don’t worry, I wouldn’t do anything to drastic, I suppose then.. only if I see someone die right in front of me then maybe-
..No.. don’t even think about it.. just go through it if you want to prove yourself worth living.
All these thoughts ran past her, while Rich was looking at her like a father to a child, as though he understood what she was going through. Then again, he has been working there for a while. Kituana looked up again, and then asked a question to Rich.
“If you know, how did they find me-or at least who found me?”
A quiet pause took place.
“Yes, I suppose that it wouldn’t hurt to tell you. The control team found you in the city that you lived at.. I’m not sure how the procedures go, but the fire there, rumored, turned
everything to ice, if that is true. I for one am sure to believe it. It is also rumored that the fire is still burning today at the cities till now.”
“So you are saying that this fire is eternal?”
”Yes, that is exactly my point, but I think that the control tam only look for the people that were alive, not dead.”
“How can they tell? What if they are nearing death, no breathing, no heartbeat, how can they tell?”
“They just do kid, they just do.”
Kituana felt a spark of hope inside her, thinking that perhaps, just perhaps her brother might be alive.
“I see.. where do they place the people that they find?”
“I think they put them in hospitals kid,” giving a small chuckle of amusement.
“That is not what I mean...I meant which hospital?”
“Everywhere, it all is spread out, there was too many, so we had to place them in different parts of the country, that’s a lot now then isn’t it?”
“.. yea.. I guess it is....”
Kituana felt a tad disappointed, since she was hoping that perhaps she would have met her brother, but at least there was a chance he was still alive.
Rich got up, and placed the suitcase on the chair he was sitting at and opened it.
“Here, you should get some clothing, I got to go soon, the nurses wouldn’t be too happy if I overstayed my welcome.”
“Will I see you again sir?”
Rich’s smile faded a bit, but acted up a cheerful mood.
“It depends now kid. You would just have to wait and see. Cheerio.”
He gave a wink, another bright smile, and left the room.
After some time, Kituana then looked at her body again, the white robe that tells if you are a patient or not, and looked at the clothings in the suitcase. Both of her feet touched the floor, she then toppled over her left side, and fell on the floor. The carpeting was soft for her advantage however, and tried to pull herself back up. Kituana looked at her feet, and figured out why she couldn’t walk; she had a sprain. She looked around, and attempt to walk again, more cautiously. She leaned on one of the tables where the “Lub-bub” was at, and it taken off her. Ok, step the right foot first, good, now for the left...
“Yipe!” She tripped again, this time her left side of the body was stinging, and she paused to let it subside.
She fell over by the desk this time, and knocked over several books off the desk.
Hastily Kituana picked them up and placed them near the chair, crawling to get there. Her hands then found a way to this piece of paper sticking out.
If I were still alive by the time someone has found this letter, then maybe the accident I have caused long ago wouldn’t have past yet again.
If it does, then I was too late, the realm of the dead, seems to wait,
For a Livy, a called for but not a deady.
Seven stones to slowly come by,
In the world that sleeps,
Death that was near, may the
Eternal fire soon be put to rest.
My time has come, I must go,
But perhaps in the dead,
I can surly help.
A sleeping spell that comes to past, goes to a long lost grasp, two that would go and find each other, deep in sleep, close to death, yet alive, not to pass.
- Rich.
Kituana reread the letter over, to make sure that she was not mistaken.
But... that... that sounded like as though he would...
Kituana then started quivering, although she only knew the person for a second, she had a care for him, like a daughter.
Is he mad? I must figure out why he would help if he’s dead...Richard..
She then leaned over on the wall to get up again, and tried to open the door to see if she can talk to him, although by now he would have been out of the hospital.
As soon as she reached the doorknob, she then realized that her gown would indicate she was a patient.
If the nurses see me like this...
She then turned and leaned towards the suitcase, and took out several clothes.
It only took her a minute to change, from sitting down on the chair and spreading the clothes apart.
She was wearing long deep-dark blue jeans with bits of thread loose from the legs, and around the waist was a belt with two small stars on each side. There were four pockets, one on each knee (pants), and two in the gray jacket. Her shirt underneath was a deep black, with a design of blue fire around it. The burns on her didn’t do much to affect her clothing, so it was hardly noticeable except for the bandages on her left hand. Rapidly she pocketed the letter, and tried to go out.
She then stopped leaning on the wall, and started to balance herself out, ignoring the pain screaming from her burnt ankle. For some strange reason the pain started to end, and she was able to speed up. She somehow managed to climb down from where she was from down the stair steps. She then opened the other door downstairs, leading to other hallways and saw a nurse. The hallways were long; signs were everywhere, pointing where the medical care was and ect.
The nurse, didn’t recognize the girl in her new clothing, and continued pacing back and forth between hallways.
Kituana slowed down, and lightly tapped on the nurse.
The nurse was startled for a quick moment, and turned around, annoyed and irritated.
“What do you want; can’t you see I’m busy?”
Kituana’s ankle was burning again, but neverless she kept a straight face, and asked the nurse if she had seen Richard anywhere.
The nurse simply turned around wrote something on her papers, and answered, “Why would you like to know? It’s not like you have anything associated with him.”.
What’s her problem? Kituana scrunched up at this, and then replied.
“Look, I just want to know where he is, so please just tell me where he is and I’ll leave you alone.”
The nurse gave her a cold stare, (You think she had a bad day...) simply ignored her, and continued doing her work.
Kituana was getting more and more annoyed and walked off.
Curse you then b-
Her thought blocked out after a startled person run over through her space, almost making her trip again.
“Sorry!” A soft but low voice came, and she looked to who it was, but the person turned a corner and was in a hurry for something.
The nurse, seemed to act as though nothing happened, as though she didn’t see the other person running.
Kituana remained startled after some time, but neverless kept her head, and followed this lost person.
“Excuse me!” She ran up to catch up with the person, and he slowed down for a minute, she saw sweat go down his face, as though it was urgent whatever he was doing.
As she approached him, she saw that he had fair skin; his dark-brown hair neatly tied.
What caught her attention the most though, was his radiant eyes, dark green with a mix of dark blue, as though they can pierce the mind just by looking at it.
She looked deep into his eyes for a brief moment, and blushed.
“What is it?”
The soft voice woke her back to reality full with concern, and she realized that she was turning red.
“Oh...err...yeah...” Kituana was confused for a moment, but remembered what she was doing.
“Have you seen a man, about 5’9 and is dressed in a black tuxedo? He donates these bags to people though...”
The boy she was talking to remained quiet for some time.
“I guess you can say that if you wish, but, as for the moment, no. But perhaps I’ll meet him later.”
His voice trailed off, as though he was hiding something, and that echoing in her, felt as though she knew him, and yet didn’t.
“Oh, I see, thank you, but I have a feeling that, he... He is going to do something bad. That something horrible is going to happen to him.”
Kituana’s gaze dropped from the boy’s sight, while he remained quiet and kept his eyes on her face.
“I’m sorry kid, but it’s something he has to do.”
Kituana gave back, tripping after that last comment.
“Wait...you...you knew?!”
The boy kept a firm face.
“Kid... it’s our only hope.”
Why does everyone call me kid?!
His voice then somehow then sounded as though he was not suppose to say anything, and yet Kituana was still hard in her thoughts to believe.
“Only hope?! ... Please...what are you talking about? Would you tell me?”
She tried to sound only curious, but she knew that it was one with concern, and that it was hopeless to ask. Time passed by, ignoring what the boy if he has more to say, she turned and left. The boy gave a last whisper before she left, so that only she could hear...
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kituana jogged at her pase outside, hoping not to miss anything that she could see. The sun was bright, irritating her more by each second, not mentioning that...that boy...
Stupid... boy... grr...WHY does someone so cute have to be so...so, weird?!
Her body was jogging along, looking at the details around her to hopfully find Richard.
People were out in the streets, the town poor but thriving happily, as she went on her way. Small houses that was although poor somewhat homey, rushed down the green-grassed patios.
As she ran, she heard several people look and laugh at her, being in such a hurry.
“Hey, is she new?”
“I dunno, heh. But it seems as though she’s in a hurry.”
“Ha-ha, look at the new kid.”
How could one be so joyful and yet others left in misery?
It was starting to get to her, but she held herself back from going up to those people.
Kituana paused after that thought, and remembered what the boy said to her before she was out of his sight. Preoccupied with her thoughts, and hovered along.
She looked back at the conversation, remembering that the last thing the boy said before he left was...”If you can stop him, then perhaps you, yourself kid, might have a solution to our problem.”
She stopped, amid in her thoughts, she thought she heard the sound of water splashing, and she then ran towards the sound.
“Where do you think she’s going in a such a rush?”
“Leave her alone, she has nothing to do with us.”
“So?! I want to figure it out.”
”Mira, don’t.”
“Whatever....”
She ignored it and then was soon out of earshot.
Outside the hospital, it was sometime around the afternoon, people were coming and going as they please, some staring at Kituana as she went and was panting. At last, she traced the sound at a bridge, and there by the side of the bank, was Rich. She stopped running, and then slowly walked up to him, not to surprise him though, but to merely see what he was going to do. Her heavy breathing faded, underneath the bridge, that was dark red in color, the water was stirring caused by the breeze. A willow tree was hovering them both, as though expecting a party to meet there. The irritation she had from the others faded, and a sense of sorrow placed onto her heart, as she neared him.
Richard heard Kituana’s soft footsteps walk on the mushy ground, the wind echoing through the water, a warm knife in his left hand.
Kituana felt the cold go through her, as though she was the one that should be in his position, not him. She then stopped several feet behind him, and then spoke in a quiet
tone. Nearby, others unaware what is happening laugh, while the two feeling as though nothing should be bothering them, at least not now.
Kituana softly in her soft voice, not daring to provoke him, pronounced...
“Please, no.. Richard.. if..you can..stop this madness.”
Without turning around, looking at the clear water, he then talked in a calm voice, directed to Kituana as the wind started echoing in the cool breeze.
Kituana heard him gave a slight chuckle of amusement, and saw a small smile go on the calamity of the face.
“Tch, so someone did read my letter before I left.”
Kituana looked at him with wonder, thinking to herself that the Richard she knew was mad.
“It’s something I have to do.”
She didn’t say anything, fearing that he would then outrage and strike her along with him in death, and yet still, she felt as though she has to help him. As old as he is, she felt a companionship to him, somewhat as though, they knew each other more then they do.
“Please, Richard... you know that life is worth living ...no?”
The general turned around, looking deep into Kituana’s face, giving her the feeling as though she should have just left him alone, yet pity took her mind.
“Life is why I’m here. I know that you might not be able to understand it Kituana, but let it be so. Perhaps I may meet you sooner then you think.”
“But why? You seemed so cheerful just a few minutes ago back in my room in the hospital...”
“I have my reasons.” He repeated, “I know that it is a bad timing for such a thing, but I have to.”
”The boy said that I can help.”
Richard gave back, startled.
“Uri told you about that?”
So that’s the name of the boy huh?
“Yea, he did. Come on, you don’t have to do this...”
“But I have to.”
“Don’t, life is worth living, don’t do it!”
Richard shook his head and chuckled, “That’s the very reason I’m doing this.”
“Give the knife to me...”
“I’m afraid I have no choice.”
Richard lift the knife up in the air, and before Kituana could move, her ankle gave way, causing her to trip, and forced to watch as Richard stab himself repeatedly, bleeding and laughing all at the same time.
As though it was a short active film, Kituana’s eye’s widen, her face paler, as she watched the body of Richard fall, bleeding in the eyes, stomach, and lungs.
She couldn’t breath, and saw as he fall into the river, his blood mixing in with the waters.
Fear took hold on her, as she thought about that she might see him soon..
Not taking any chances that Uri was going to kill her, she hurried herself to getup and move as fast as she can.
Before she could get up however, she felt a hand grab her shoulder.
“Looks like you didn’t convince him to live either.”
Kituana swiftly turned around, and tried to slap at the voice she recognized as Uri.
He grabbed her arm, and sat beside her after he released it.
“Don’t worry Kituana; I won’t hurt you, at least, not here nor now.”
“Why? You could have convinced him. Out of all the people, you could have done it. How did you know my name?”
“Not now. It’s too busy for now. We have to move, less we get caught and someone thinks WE killed him. Lets go.”
“No, I don’t trust you.”
“Well that’s a fine way to say something,”
Uri got up, picked up Kituana against her own will, and sneaked his way around the park, and was over the bridge when he sat Kituana down, as she struggled out of his grip.
“Ok, you go. I’ll stay here for now.”
“Wha?! You shouldn’t pick me up! That’s harassment!”
“I know... but not enough time to explain. I must leave; I might never see you again in this world, if Richard dies, then I must leave.”
Kituana stared, thinking that the people that live here are mad. But as then she saw, the figure of Uri started fading, and then disappeared as though it was never there.
“Ahh!!!”
A scream near her took place, and Kituana turned, and recognized the girl, the one that was laughing at Kituana when she was in a hurry. Another boy, that seems to be the girl’s age, ran beside her, and held her soothingly, asking what happened.
“A..a...a...”
The girl couldn’t speak, all she did was point down at the bridge, where Richard’s now dead body lay.
The boy looked down, and turned pale, looking as though he was about to throw up from the sight, as he fumbled around in his pockets.
“We need to call the cops...” He muttered to himself, and picked his cell phone from his pocket.
“911? Yes, dead body, No, this is no joke! I’m serious, it-“
The girl was crying, and hugging the boy tightly.
He took off his conversation, and talked to her.
“Mira...don’t cry, it’s ok..”
Kituana was staring at the body at the river, wondering how such a lively person such as Rich, kill himself at the end.
Move, you don’t want to get caught.
Kituana listened to that one thought, and slipped away into the sunlight, turning away from the bridge, as fear took over her. Despite the warm sun, coldness overcame her, and she led herself around.
Where am I to go? I don’t know anything, at least about here..
“Hey!”
Kituana looked ahead of her, prying her glassy stare from the cemented sidewalk to the person trying to gather attention.
People were starting to crowd around the bridge, and before she left, she saw the ambulance turn and head over to then body.
He’s dead, it’s useless, just like Shuro and my parents. Everything is useless.
Don’t say that..
Kituana knew it was true though, but she didn’t want to change, even as she felt her heart change from a soft one to another.
“What do you want?”
She gave the person a cold stare, who felt the immediance of longing of wanting to be left alone, and backed off.
“I just wanted to ask if you know about the person that just died.”
“You saw it too?”
”Well..”
He started fumbling, “I saw you talking to him, but I left and then I heard you gasp. I want to know, what happened?”
Kituana didn’t feel anything, perhaps joining Richard in death would be better for her.
“Nothing.”
She then shoved her eyes up to the air , and strolled off.
“Wait!”
She looked back, at the person.
“What is it NOW?”
Fear that is what he is feeling.
Why do I know this? That he is feeling fear.
Kituana saw his eyes narrow down out of fear, and indeed, something was scaring him, but what?
“You seem to be alone.”
”So?”
“I want to ask, if you are not going anywhere, would you like to stay with my family for a while?”
That’s a stupid question to ask a random person on the street, but I would need somewhere to stay, I can’t go back to the hospital, they wouldn’t be too happy with me. Heh.
“Why do you ask?”
“Because, you’re new here. Rumor, of a girl about 15, was in a coma in the hospital up North in the city. Not too far from here. Word has it that she ran from the hospital, said to be beautiful, and a miracle that she is alive at the moment.”
That does sound like me..
Don’t tell me you’re letting yourself get soft after what happened
I’m just like that, he’s right.
NO. Go away.
I don’t want to. Let me.

well..that's all I got so far. lol.
