Gym Leaders choose their TM

I think the Gym leaders should be able to choose the gym tm they will give out, and not go by what the tm is in the game. Some of the tm's given out are pointless and are a waste, or just that there are better choices. It used to be that the leader choose the tm but some people wanted to do it like the game, so it changed. I want to go back to letting the gym leaders choose. I want to hear what others think. Please respond

Examples of Current tm's for johto league:
Violet\Flying- Mudslap
Azalea\Bug- Furry Cutter
Goldenrod\Normal- Attract
Ecruteak\Ghost- Shadowball
Cianwood\Fighting- Dynamic Punch
Olivine\Steel- Iron Tail
Mahogany\Ice- Icy Wind
Blackthorn\Dragon- Dragonbreath

Agree. But there should be a limit to it, like not letting some nub gym leader choose some crap TM, but also not too powerful(Dadada, Gym Leader 1: Fire Blast, Leader 2: Thunder, Leader 3: Earthquake, etc.).

Im for it however I will have a problem. Im the owner of the Azalea gym and will have to keep my TM as there is only 2 bug TMs in all of the games. =/

Yes, I wouldn't want my Gym Challengers being sad they got the crappy Shockwave move TM.

I don't really have a problem with it. But We did want to keep the game as close as we can. What do you have to say lep.

My only thing, if we do, You cannot choose just anything. They must be within your type. I will not allow the Water gym have thunder to give away for their TM.

I also think that for the gym's with the same type, they can't have the same tm. For example the two electric gyms can't both give out tm thunderbolt, and the fire gyms can't both give out flamethrower.

I like the TM my gym gives out; Bulk Up. It's saved me a few times. However, I voted yes right away, since amost all other gyms have crap for TM's. *looks at his TM Mud Slap from Violet* Yeah...i don't think that's gonna save me from much.

Nobody needs Fury Cutter or Shockwave. To keep it short, they suck. Only problem is, what moves could replace it?

Whoever has Azalea Gym is going to have a heck of a time trying to find another one bsides Fury Cutter, but the problem isn't only limited to that gym. Would it be that bad if they prehaps gave out something like Giga Drain instead? As for myself, I don't see a problem with this.

Oh absolutely yes! Who uses Overheat anyway? After about 3 turns its starts being really bad. I'd love to be able to give out something like Flamethrower. I wonder if my wife, Flannery, would agree with changing the Gym TM.........:lol:.

And like we said before, both of them are alarmingly useless. Thing is, if crappy TM's are given out, no one is going to use them, plain and simple. It's just as useless as handing out nothing at all. These TM's are handed out fairly early in the game, and were probably meant to be replaced as the game goes on. Since the URPG system works differently, the TM system needs to be handled differently.

i like the idea of keeping gyms with the TM's from the game since we are trying to be like the game here. but how can a gym defend when the TM they have is attract? lol or mud slap? that would be hard.

Well, Overheat is one of my favourite moves. And its not suposed to be used more than once. Maybe twice... But then again, I'm a bad trainer :razz:

I am confused. How do the gym leaders get to choose the tm's? Isn't the game choosing them and the gym leaders choosing them the same. Can someone explain this to me? I can't see how a gym leader on a game can have a mind of its own and choose their own tm.

This is the URPG. Go to the URPG General and read the <<READ FIRST>> thread. Don't post anymore questions here, post in the <<Questions, Comments or Suggestions>> or something like that thread.

Thats YES for sure. When I ruled the ice gym I didn't like my TM (Icy Wind) I don't need it neither does the trainers who challanged me.
