Iv thing on Emerald, my poke gained an Iv at the Daycare!???

Yeah, so after reading Mlugia's breeding guide I started breeding for IVs. Well after my Kadabra and Ditto produced three eggs I stopped picking up the eggs for a day. Now I went to pick them up and the daycare lady said 'Your Kadabra has grown 6 lvs." THEN she said that he had gained 1 DEF IV?? I'm at school right now, so I'll post her exact words from my game when I get home, but it that suppose to happen??

I did it so that I could remember that that ditto's highest IV was its def. This Ditto is only for breeding and passing on IVs. So I called it Def IV, not that dumb is it?

I said a GOOD IV, not perfect. The old man at the battle frontier told me his def was flawless. So I think it is close to 31 then, but probably not perfect.
