has anyone else watched it?

it's about a girl named lain who has been contacted by a classmate who've commited suicide to enter the wired, which is a highly advanced version of our internet in which everything is touchable and real. it's like another world, an alternate reality. lain is able to see both worlds at the same time, as if the worlds have crossed paths.

this anime series is pretty dark and existentialistic. i suggest people who like to watch anime that has depth and is more than simple eye candy to check it out.

lain yeah! I've yet to see it, but it's in my harddrive somewhere. How many seasons has it gone on anyway?

You know, it's funny that you're bringing up Lain now. I've wanted to see it ever since I heard about it, and especially after I saw Boogiepop Phantom. I just got it yesterday, and can't wait to watch it. (Well, I'm gonna finish off what I've got of Bleach and Evangelion first, but Lain will be after that :P)

How does it compare to Boogiepop Phantom? (if you've seen it)

Hmmm. Is phantom good? I haven't seen it before actually. :-/

sorry, that i've no idea...heh. i've never watched boogiepop phantom.

i can however compare it to evangelion and say that if you liked evangelion, this will definitely fascinate you...as they are my top two anime series. it's not as religiously symbolic, it's more humanistically oriented. but it's just as spiritual.

I love Eva, so I guess that's a good sign.

Yes, Boogiepop Phantom is really good. It's dark and abstract, and makes you think. I enjoyed it.

I've heard it compared to lain in it's complexity, but from what they say, lain is more abstruse than Phantom.

(Boogiepop Phantom is 13 eps and is avaiable on DVD, BTW)

yeah lain is not for the casual watcher, heh.

much like evangelion, i had to rewatch parts of it to understand what's going on. sometimes the scene changes are a bit abrupt, but i believe that's for effect.

to the previous question i overlooked, lain is divided into 13 episodes, called 13 layers.
