Gengar @ _____________ , _____ Nature
EVs: 256 Sp Attack, 256 Speed, 4 Attack
-Focus Blast
-Shadow Ball

I really like the moveset, Not sure what nature, and what item to equip though.

Gengar @Choice Specs
Timid Nature
EVs: 252 Sp Attack, 252 Speed, 4 Attack
-Focus Blast
-Shadow Ball
-Hidden Power Ice
-Thunderbolt

What's up with those EVs in attack? Those 4 extra EVs don't do much, but why put them there?

Anyways, Gengar is one of the best Specs users around right now, and this set gives him pretty optimal type coverage. He gets a sort of lesser version of boltbeaming with T-Bolt and HP Ice. You get STAB with Sludge Bomb, true, but you only kill grasses with that, which HP Ice can do and more.

Shadow Ball? o_O

STAB isn't the most important thing in the world, you know.

No, not in this case. Sludge Bomb is just a waste of a moveslot, which HP Ice fills better. With Sludge Bomb, you can kill maybe a stray Tangrowth. With HP Ice, you can kill him, Salamence, Garchomp, Donphan and probably a lot more that I just think of right now.

You'll have to do some breeding (probably, at least. You might be really lucky). If you'd really rather not, Energy Ball is a viable option in that spot, since it'll rip through random Swampert's, and, I guess if you really want, Sludge Bomb could go back there.

If you do want to buckle down and try breeding for HP Ice, here's a guide.

You want type diversity in your move sets...
252 Sp Atk 252 Spd, 4 HP is better EV spread.

Modest or Timid Nature works.

And that's a good moveset for Gengar too.
