Alternative way of transferring MSN contact list to new account?

Yo,

I have a new hotmail account and I'd prefer to save myself the trouble of adding my old buddies one by one. I know there's this nifty option on msn that says "save contact list" and another one that says "import contact list", but there's a catch: it doesn't work. Don't ask me why, it just doesn't do anything.

So, any ideas?

Uhm, both, and I'm using Windows Live Messenger.

Anyway, I'm not quite sure how you'd do it in email, since I use Gmail, and not hotmail/MSN for emailing. I don't know how you do it in Live Messenger, but I could probably tell you if you used Trillian or Adium, depending on your OS. Sorry, but I'll ask some of my friends. >.<
