Their Beginning(the story)
In an epic battle, Arceus took on an overpowered Darkrai. Not much is known about this battle, or how Darkrai gained so much strength. All that is known is that the battle took place in Sinnoh, and destroyed every Pokemon or human still in the region. Sinnoh became a barren land. All that was left was the decaying bodies of the two Legendary Pokemon. The battle was a draw, as neither Pokemon could find the strength to defeat their opponent. Sinnoh, with not a building standing, or a sign of life, was left to be Arceus’ and Darkai’s burial grounds.
As everyone gathered around the shores of Sinnoh, an unexpected event occurred. Arceus and Darkai began to disintegrate, leaving nothing but the outlines of their bodies in the ground. Everyone believed that this meant that the end of the world was coming. However, everyone was wrong, as this was only the beginning.
Days later, the outlines of the Legendary Pokemon’s body disappeared. There were no signs that Arceus or Darkrai even existed. A month later, a remarkable discovery was made. When archeologists went to search the barren region, they found Pokemon wandering around underground, in the area where Mt. Coronet used to be. The Pokemon, surprisingly, were not famished, or weakened, yet there was no food source anywhere in sight. The only logical theory was that the Pokemon separated into groups, and prayed on weaker species. This seemed to be true as certain Pokemon preferred to live on one side of their underground home, as some Pokemon preferred the other. These Pokemon became known as the Last Breaths of Sinnoh or shorter known as Breaths.
The Archeologists were ordered to bring some of the Pokemon home. They didn’t want to disturb the ecosystem that was created, so they only brought one of every species they could find. The Pokemon were brought to Kanto for study, and it was found that these Pokemon were only a day old, and had no DNA at all. When samples of their blood were ordered to be taken, it was discovered that the Pokemon had no blood. The government decided that these Pokemon were not to be referred to as Pokemon, but only as Breaths, and were to be destroyed.
On the day of their execution, a riot took place, and the Last Breaths were free to go off and live amongst other Pokemon. With the Breaths blending in with other Pokemon, it would be impossible for the government to track them down and destroy them without capturing all Pokemon. Though this sounds like an impossible feat, the government intended on doing so. The government quickly formed the USOF (Unidentified Species Obtainment Force) to track down and capture as many Pokemon as they can, just so they could kill the Breaths. The USOF is violent, and will even resort to taking Pokemon out of children’s hands. They will not stop until Operation Exhale is complete.
Their Purpose(your role)
As the government expected, the Breaths would be captured by humans who thought they were normal Pokemon. Eventually, these humans found out that the Breaths were far more powerful then normal Pokemon. The Breaths are bio-weapons, capable of making the human itself stronger. However, this power comes at a price. The more the humans use the Breath’s power, the more control the Breath has over the human. This in turn makes the Breath the trainer, and the human the Pokemon, reversing the roles.
You are one of the lucky or possibly unfortunate people that have found one of the Breaths. You have already discovered the tremendous power, and some of you have already succumbed to the power of the Breath. Either way, you want your Breath to stay, and you disagree with the USOF. You are against them and will do anything to destroy them or stop them before they succeed in killing all of the Breaths. Though you hold great power, alone, you do not stand a chance, and will have to make allies and combine your strength to take down a common enemy. Though your motives may be different, your enemy is the same, and must have the same drive as the USOF to succeed on your mission. The Breaths must live on, and the USOF must be defeated. This is your mission.
Their Way(Rules)
1. No Goddmodding.
2. No Bunnying without permission.
3. No excessive cussing.
4. This is PG-13, but no super violent and graphic death scenes.
5. You can kill your character off, but if you do, you must hand over your Breath to another member of the rp, unless it’s near the end of the rp. Only then can it die.
6. If you do kill off your character, consult me on it first.
7. Romance is allowed, but no more than making out.
8. Have fun.
9. Type OPERATION: EXHALE in your sign up so I know you’ve read the rules.
10. There can only be one of each Pokemon, so if somebody has the Pokemon you want, you need to find a new one.

Ivry
Berry Forest
Ivry and Vaporeon enjoyed the quiet of the forest. There weren't any people, the Pokemon weren't loud, and the best part was that there wasn't anyone who wanted to steal Vaporeon away from her. She had no point to be in the forest besides to enjoy it. She needed a little relaxation though, because soon, she would be fighting USOF soldiers on a daily, if not more. She had never encountered USOF, but she has seen them fight someone else before. They took a poor boy's Arcanine, even though it obviously wasn't a Breath. The USOF have no standards, as they didn't even hesitate to beat up the boy.
"Are you ready for this?" Ivry asked, looking at Vaporeon. Vaporeon nodded, and began her exit from the forest. Ivry followed without question. Ivry didn't know her way around, and Vaporeon seemed to have a map implanted in its skull. Ivry just thought of that to be a result of being a Breath. Before the two knew it, they were on a boat, heading back to Vermillion City.
"This is it Vaporeon. This is where your fate will be decided." Ivry stated.

Screw it. It's too early to meet up, go where ever you want for now. Eventually, we will meet up though.

Jamie
Vermillion City Port, Kanto
Since departing the large and complicated ship, Jamie found that her traveling plans and vanished completely from her head. She had nowhere to go and nothing to do but wait... wait and see, that is.
"Come on, Red," she called. Her voice was shrill, yet soft and gentle. "Don't be afraid."
The Magmortar that trailed behind her was anything but afraid. The huge, powerful creature was naturally armed with bazooka-like arms that fired missiles of 3600-degree-Farenheit fire; this aspect of its power gave Red quite an intimidating impression. The Breath's very presence either caused people to stop and stare, or retreat in fear.
Red's deep growl seemed to shake the ground as he approached the small girl. Jamie grinned and continued on, humming to herself with pleasure.
"Red, where do you think we should go?" she inquired, honestly not caring where her Breath would take her.
The Pokemon grunted.
"Well, I don't know either. Hm." Jamie sighed faintly. Suddenly, her face brightened up and she turned to face Red. "Oh, what about the Pokemon gym? You wanna try?"
Red blinked in confusion, but the girl waved him on, looking impatient now. "Come on! It'll be fun! Or," Jamie added, pondering. "We could watch the battles. Would you like that?"
Hearing the word battle, Red's body flared with excitement. The Breath seemed to give off a blue-white glow from the heat it expelled, but Jamie paid no mind to it. She was used it all.
And with that, Jamie and her Breath weaved their way down streets and crossing roads, wandering about the city of Vermillion in search of the Gym.

Connor
Petalburg Forest, Hoenn
Connor bolted through the trees, zigzagging left and right as speedily as he could. He could barely hear the sounds of crunching leaves and heavy boots behind him through the ringing of pulsing blood in his ears. The only thing that mattered was that his Breath, Gabite, was close behind him.
Just as he grabbed the first pokeball in his belt, Gabite shrieked. Connor jumped and whirled around just in time to see the Pokemon let loose a Flamethrower seemingly into the forest. But after the flames and smoke subsided, Connor saw their daunting black figures.
Soldiers... of the USOF.
"Target acquired! Begin capture, NOW!"
"I can't, the machine's damaged! That was a hell of a Flamethrower!"
"I SAID NOW, YOU IMBECILE!"
His eyes widening, Connor grabbed Gabite and sprinted off again, wondering how long pure adrenaline and fear would fuel his energy. The two began their escape once more, the soldiers now trailing behind them. Swerving, Connor spotted a clearing past the trees, and a clear path in the distance. He led Gabite down the path, running until they could no longer hear the USOF behind them. They stopped behind a few bushes and small trees and caught their breath.
"You... okay?" he asked, panting.
"Graaaarrraao!" the dragon cried. It quickly pulled itself together with one deep inhale and exhale. The Breath was energized and ready.
Connor sighed heavily. "Good, well. Looks like there's a city here... Petalburg, probably." He got up and walked a ways down the wide path, seeing hills and the slight shimmer of the ocean far away. There it was: Hoenn's great south city, Petalburg.
Exhaling sharply, Connor glanced back at Gabite and waved his hand, motioning for the Pokemon to follow. When the dragon did nothing, Connor turned to face it. "Look, we don't have anywhere else to go. Let's get moving."
Gabite grunted and followed Connor with some uncertainty.

Zak Tyr
South of Island Three,Kanto
Zak was south of Island Three trying to find a way to let his trouble go.He always felt at home when he was surrounded by water and by standing on top of Swampert he could do so.
"Swampert what should we do, go to Island Three or keep heading south?"
Swampert looked up at gave Zak a nod in the direction of Vermillion City signaling he wanted to go to the port city of Vermillion.
"Well that is one thing we could do.I heard that they have great food there and a gym we could take on for a nice little challenge."
Swampert gave Zak a small grin at the word challenge. That's one of the few things the two had in common the most, the love of a challenge.
"Well I guess its off to Vermillion City then.Once we get there we can get some food and......what the....?"
Before Zak could finish his statement a fast moving boat came up right next to them and knocked Zak off Swampert and threw him into the sea.Zak quickly jumped back onto Swampert and they began following the boat in hopes of seeing where it was going and if it was a USOF boat and they would have more than just a gym fight today.

"Finish this with blizzard."
Trafalgar snaped his fingers and a icy cold blast hit his opponets pokemon. It fainted instantly and its trainer returned it to its pokeball. "You could've gone a little easier..." But the trainers whine fell on deaf ears. Trafalgar was already moving back toward the town. He was in a bad mood now, that little punk ruined some good training time. Blastoise was walking with him when he stopped. Trafalgar noticed that the deep thud from his pokemon's steps were gone, so he turned around. Blastoise was staring off into the distance. "Hey, we need to get a move on, hurry it up." Blastoise slowly turned and followed his trainer.
They headed to the pokemon center, he needed is pokeballs back. He picked them up and saw that Blastoise wasn't next to him, again. He came outside and saw him staring at the same spot. "What are you..." He stopped. He busted out a map from his backpack and took a good look. It was toward Kanto, or maybe Johto. It seemed that there was something pulling blastoise away form the situation at hand. "Shall we head that way then?" Trafa;gar already knew the answer. He went to the docks and bought a ticket for the next boat.

Quetzalcoatl was in the magnet train, which was heading to Kanto. She was comfortable in her seat. Magneton was right behind her head, its three eyes keeping a lookout for anything suspicious happening behind its companion's back. Both of them were completely unaware that this could make others feel uncomfortable. However, nobody seemed to paying attention to any of them. Goldenrod was a busy city; no one was concerned about each other because they were much more worried about themselves.
Someone noticed the Magneton. It wasn't a regular Magneton. He could just feel it in his instincts. He was almost never wrong about Breaths. He can't just go towards it. Someone else could be a witness if he snatched the Pokémon away. He had to get its trainer's trust. He sat down next to Quetzalcoatl. She got her umbrella stick out, just in case. It's been a long time since she had trusted strangers.

Hikaru
Ilex Forest, Johto
Hikaru stretched and gave a yawn of boredom. He rested his hands behind his head, letting his eyes wander up toward the darkened canopy above. He'd never understood why, but it was always dark in the Ilex Forest; like no sun was able to shine through. He knew perfectly well that it was daylight, for when he'd entered the forest a few moments before, the sun had been shining brightly.
The blue haired trainer looked down to his Breath, Houndoom, who was walking silently a few paces ahead of him. His arms dropped slowly to his sides and he spoke to the fire-type, his voice breaking the heavy silence of the forest.
"What should we do when we get out of here? It shouldn't be too long now, right?"
Houndoom merely grunted in response, not even turning to glance back at the boy. Hikaru scowled slightly. All this time, and it felt like he and the Breath hadn't yet created a bond. He looked past Houndoom to the distant spot of light, which he knew was the exit of the forest. It wouldn't be long at all before they were out, but what they would do afterward remained a mystery. He honestly didn't even know what he was doing or where he was going; there had been no plans of travel since they'd entered Johto a few days back.
The sound of rustling caught both trainer and Pokemon's attention then, and both stopped and turned in the direction of the sound. Houndoom was already growling, teeth bared menacingly. Hikaru's fists clenched at his sides as he stared into the greenery in front of him.
A beam of some sort shot out of the bushes then, missing the two by merely inches. Houndoom wasted no time firing off a powerful Flamethrower into the shrubbery, a small explosion erupting from behind them right after. The fire type turned and darted off then, prompting Hikaru to follow. He could hear movement behind them clearly, meaning whatever had attacked wasn't out yet.
The Breath ahead of him zigzagged professionally through the trees and other obstacles along the way, whilst Hikaru had a bit more difficulty. He heard something strike the ground a ways behind him, followed by distant shouting, but didn't bother to turn around and look.
Houndoom led the young trainer to what looked like a shrine of some sort, darting behind the said foundation. Hikaru was a bit hesitate. He knew that this was built in honor of the forest's protector, and wasn't quite sure whether or not anything would happen if they messed with it. But of course, all they were doing was hiding out behind it, right? It's not like they were disrupting anything.
He knelt down behind the small, wooden structure beside the Breath, who was crouched down low to the ground itself. The once distant footsteps grew louder and louder, until, finally, their pursuers were right in front of the shrine. Hikaru held his breath as silence fell over the area. His heart was pounding so loudly, he was sure it would give them away.
"Did you see which way they went?"
"No sir, I didn't."
"You useless imbeciles... Let's check the remainder of the trail. If we come up with nothing, we can come back. They couldn't have gotten too much farther..."
The sound of footsteps picked up again, slowly growing more distant. Hikaru relaxed, allowing himself to breath once again. Beside him, Houndoom rose with what looked like a smirk on his face. Hikaru rose slowly to his feet, scanning the area before cautiously stepping out from behind the shrine. There was no doubt in his mind that that had been some of the USOF guards.. He was extremely relieved that they hadn't thought to look around the area first. That had actually been a stupid decision on their part, but he wasn't going to complain.
"Okay... What now?" he whispered breathlessly to his Pokemon. Houndoom gave no response, just ventured out from behind the shrine and started down the path. Hikaru hesitated, staring after the Breath for a few moments before reluctantly following after.

Connor
Petalburg City, Hoenn
Connor, Gabite, and the rest of the team arrived at the Petalburg Pokemon Center promptly at midnight. The nurse was used to sights like him; it didn't even make her wonder why a boy at around sixteen was walking through their doors. With that, the two fugitives had made their way to their room for the night, stumbling across the hall in their weariness.
Connor had slept a troubled sleep, mostly filled with paranoid thoughts about the USOF soldiers that had been chasing them. Unfortunately for him and Gabite, that wasn't the first time they had been running away from such an intense chase. The USOF knew about Connor, and he knew he was somewhere in Hoenn. They had been tracking him for years - all because of Gabite.
Another scenario that haunted him was the thought of the future. After the most recent chase, Connor found himself worrying even more than usual for not only Gabite, but his team. At least, Espeon and Absol. Though he hated to think about it, the rest of his team - including his beloved best friend Sceptile - had chosen freely to stay in Mauville City while Connor and Gabite ran away. The memories of them, and his hometown, were still powerful, and needless to say pretty painful. He generally shied away from the past and focused intently on the present and the future. But now, there was a decision to be made...
In the morning, Connor woke before the Pokemon, and he began to pack his bags and stock up on supplies to prepare for more traveling. When the three creatures found him downstairs in the Center's shop, he told them briefly and quietly that they were leaving. Leaving, he said, for a different region.
***
Connor had never thought Vermillion City would be so intriguing and energetic. People were everywhere, constantly moving, constantly working. Sighing, he thought, I can easily blend in... they won't find us here. Although, that was the whole idea in leaving Hoenn.
He wasn't all that sad about leaving, necessarily. After all, Connor had left his hometown as a young teenager. The region of Hoenn he had found to be beautiful, but he put the protection of his Breath high above irrelevant sentimentality. And anyway, there was nowhere in Hoenn as upbeat and interesting as Vermillion City in Kanto.
"Graaaooo!" Gabite cried softly. "Gaaarrrrraaoo." He snapped lightly at the air next to him, and a man glanced at Connor with suspicion in his eyes. Connor returned him with a glare and quickly walked away.
"Try not to do that," he muttered lowly. Gabite looked at him with large, piercing yellow-orange eyes, blinking.
They wandered out of the port after a seemingly short, one-day boat trip. Caiden finally felt free enough to be able to wander without worry. His status as the four-time consecutive champion of the famed Mauville Battle-a-thon was only renowned in Hoenn. But in Kanto, he was just as normal as any other people scurrying around him.
Stopping at a kiosk for some iced drinks, a digital banner caught Connor's eye, flashing flamboyantly on one of Vermillion's taller buildings. The display changed quickly, reading after every change of the screen:
LIEUTENANT SURGE'S ELECTRIFIED GYM
CHALLENGERS WELCOME
BATTLES FOR THE PUBLIC TO COME AND WATCH
BE READY TO GET
SHOCKED
Shaking his head, Connor remembered when the one thing he wanted to do in life was to travel around the world, earning Gym badges to show off to his step parents - guardians, really, but he considered them parents - and to increase his popularity and reputation all around the world. Though now, his situation was quite the opposite. He chuckled darkly to himself. How ironic...

Vermillion City Port
Zak had been following the boat for some time and when it pulled into a familiar port he smiled. It was Vermillion City where he and Swampert had planned on going, and any thoughts of anger quickly dissapeared and were replaced with happiness and excitement.
"Well that was a stroke a luck huh Swampert. Before we go find some chow before we go find a little battle."
Swampert nodded and Zak jumped off Swampert's back and onto the dock.Swampert soon followed and stood behind Zak.They both started heading towards the city to find a eatery. They stopped their search when they saw a small diner that looked like a good place to eat. They both walked and were seated almost as soon as they entered.Zak sat down in a corner in the back which was designed to seat larger Pokemon.Zak ordered some food for the two of them and they began eating.
"It's nice to relax every now and again right Swampert?"
Swampert simply nodded as he always does.
"Well let's hurry up and finish and go find a battle."
As Zak said that a waitress came up to the two of them.
"If you are looking for a fight you should head over to LT.Surge's gym.He is a skilled trainer and if you beat him you get a badge.Hear just look at the sign over on the wall."
Zak and Swampert both in stereo looked over at the sign it said
LIEUTENANT SURGE'S ELECTRIFIED GYM

"Hmm sounds like fun alright let's go buddy."
The pair payed the bill and started heading towards the gym in the southwestern corner of the city.

Slateport City
The two humanoid figures moved silently through the shoreside city of Slateport. A teenager, 6'5", with a build similar to a slim twig, moved perfectly in a ragged step with the humanoid pokemon next to him. The Hitmonlee stretched his legs to keep up with the unusually tall boy, who wasn't in any rush, but his legs still were a challenge to overcome for the relatively tiny pokemon, normally standing at 4'11. The two seemed to draw the hearts of some of the females in the immediate vicinity, as if the boy and his fighting pokemon were a source of some kind of energy that forced them to attract girls like Volbeat to Illumise.
It was a bright day, and the duo were quite a presence in the city. They were by the docks on the beach, taking on trainers by the dozens, the Hitmonlee seeming to be the boy's only pokemon. However, despite the physcial effort that both tranier and pokemon used, neither of them seemed to tire. Each match was as energetic as the first, the boy being silent and giving hand signals with a seemingly limited speech ability, while the kicking pokemon executed moves that seemed to be a little more influenced by human movement than by the moveset of its type. The curious thing was that a ten minute break between battles would seem to bring the boy to his senses, making him talkative and excited, while the Hitmonlee became silent and focused as a pokemon. There were a lot of murmuring trainers in the background of the sandy beach, complaining that something was odd about the trainer and his pokemon. The boy might have been skinny, but it looked like he had no organs, just muscles that were supple enough that they constantly looked flexed a little. The pokemon seemed to be bi-polar, judging by performance in and out of battle.
A boy with a Hitmonchan came onto the beach. He was a small sandy haired boy, looking like a rich kid who got his first pokemon as a bodyguard. The challenge began, and the Hitmonlee livened up again, while the boy went into his trancelike state of battle. The two fighting types squared off in the center, the Hitmonlee begginning to work up some foot work, jumping up and down in anticipation. The opponent cried out for a Mega Punch, which the Hitmonlee swiftly caught with a kick, pushing the glove back, then performing a spinning back kick, landing his spiked heel in the Hitmonchan's face. The small boxing pokemon landed a few feet away, got back up, and charged, using Ice Punch ignoring the cries of hs trianer for a use of Extremespeed, not like he could've used it anyways. The Hitmonlee jumped over the rampaging pokemon, and turned in midair, preparing a High Jump Kick, and landed square on the boxer's back. The trainer made a small motion like a small salute, outwards in a sweeping motion, and the Hitmonlee performed a small Focus Punch to the back of the struggling neck of its victim. The pokemon thrashed for a few seconds, and then lay still, the winning Hitmonlee falling to the ground after the loser turned into the red energy of defeat. The Hitmonlee wasn't even slightly exhausted, as if it had known for a fact it was going to win. The roles resumed, and the lively boy high fived the smaller pokemon. The crowd shied away, as if finally full of having seen enough defeat for one day. The smaller boy's pockets were quickly emptied as his price for taking up energy.
"Let's get out of here, Hitmonlee. It looks like the crowd doesn't like losing much. So long ladies!" He blew a kiss to a few girls standing in the crowd, who squealed and proceeded to fight over which of them he was talking to. There was another reason though that the two had to leave. There was a group of trainers who were all subjected to the same humiliating easy defeat, speaking to a woman in an army-like outfit. The whole group, five or six, were staring at the boy and his pokemon. They were USOF, or at least the woman definitely was. They needed to leave. The boat had arrived.
Destination: Vermilion Port, Kanto.

Slateport, Hoenn
Trafalgar stood on the railing of the boat. He was watching the beginning trainers jump around shouting out attacks. For a brief moment, he felt a sense of happiness twinge on his face. He instantly wiped it off and continued to watch. Blastoise was still watching in the same direction he had been doing. Every so often Blastoise would twitch and growl, almost as if he could feel something big was about to happen. Trafalgar looked down and saw thta a new kid was battleing now. He had a Hitmonlee that looked like it was extremely well trained. Trafalgar watched battle after battle as the Hitmonlee never seemed to tire. "Blastoise, look at this." Blastoise stopped staring and came to the edge of the deck. His eyes narrowed on the Hitmonlee before Trafalgar could even say anything.
"Do you think its a..." Blastoise nodded. Trafalgar looked around to see if anyone else could possibly tell, or USOF members. As soon as he looked back though, the kid and the pokemon were gone. *damn!* He thought to himself. He might have had a good battle. a good battle means more power and more power lets him achieve his goals. At the thought of that he clenched the bar tighter until his knuckles were white. He looked at the loading stairs and saw the kid boarding. A smile grew on his face. But when he looked down the stairs he saw a woman in a military uniform followed by a couple of grunt looking people. His smile dropped and he started to panic. "Blastoise, we have to move, NOW!"

Quetzalcoatl got up without looking at the person beside her. She walked along the corridor, heading towards the door. Her Magneton followed her like a ghost seeking her life force. It showed no emotions. It just followed, keeping a short distance between them.
Quetzalcoatl held the railing next to the door to retain her equilibrium. She leaned against the wall of the train and felt safer. No one could ambush her from behind. In another ten minutes, the Magnet Train would arrive at Saffron City. She decided that she's not going to fight anyone unless forced to. Who knows? Perhaps someone can detect Breaths. Maybe the government gave a reward to anyone with information or those who surrenderred a captured Breath. Quetzalcoatl had the next destination in mind. It would be Celadon City. To lower the chances of someone challenging her to a battle, Quetzalcoatl had the idea of making bets with a confident expression. The losing trainer had to surrender a belonging and at least $10. No, make it $20 to be more of a deterrent. She can take the blow well with her being born rich.
The train stopped at Saffron City. Quetzalcoatl and her Magneton got out.

En route to Vermilion Port
The boy had escaped detection for now. Te boat had launched, and there was no sign of the USOF officer or the gang of boys that connected her him. There was a sailor showing people around, and seemed oddly suspicious of the boy and his Hitmonlee. The deck-hand asked, "Hey, kid, you up for a trade? My Sharpedo for your Hitmonlee." The boy turned in mid-stride, quicly returning the Hitmonlee to his pokeball in a flash of red light. "I don't think your pathetic shark is worth my Hitmonlee." The boy continued walking, and the deckhand clenched his fists. "Like you would, know, you haven't even seen it." The boy turned. He sent out his Hitmonlee, and the Hitmonlee started charging at the sailor. The deckhand turned to run, but fell only a moment later after the kicking pokemon landed on top of him. The boy appeared, and lifted the sailor up by the collar of his uniform. He glared into his face, the green eyes penetrating the smaller man's conscience. He put the man quicky down. "I said no." He walked briskly off, waving to a girl as he walked past. The girl sighed, and proceeded to follow the boy.
This might be a long trip if people keep on pestering me.
