Pokemon.com Recap: New York Comic-Con! -02/26/07- |

Pokemon.com has a recap of the New York Comic Con event that was held at the Jacob Javits Center on February 23-25, 2007. The Pokemon Center store was there, and Pokemon also held a voice actor panel. The Pokemon voice actor panel included: Sarah Natochenny (Ash), Michelle Knotz (May), and Bill Rogers (Brock). Pokemon.com Recap: New York Comic-Con The audience was shown the first few minutes of the new movie, Pokemon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea! The introduction was amazing, but the beginning chase was even more exciting! They especially liked – well, we can’t tell you that now! Just like all the kids asking questions about the movie’s plot, you’re going to have to wait until the DVD release, coming April 3! The actors had a lot of fun answering questions – did you know that Bill has a soft spot for Bonsly, or that Michele has really mixed feelings about Harley? And the audience certainly had fun, especially when they were rewarded with prizes for acting such good questions! |

Pokemon Movie 9: "Amazon.com Exclusive 3 Disk Set" Details!
-02/19/07- | |

Amazon.com has updated their page on the "Amazon.com

Temple of the Sea." According to Amazon's product description, the 3 disk
set will include the movie itself as a 2 disc set, and another bonus disc
containing "Pokemon Advanced Battle Vol. 1."
|
Amazon.com Product Description
THE AMAZON EXCLUSIVE INCLUDES POKEMON MOVIE 9
(2 DISC SET) PLUS BONUS DISC: "Pokemon Advanced Battle Vol. 1 (DVD)"
Synopsis of Pokemon Advanced Battle Vol. 1
(includes 5 episodes): Ash and his friends continue their adventures,

Amazon: Pokemon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea (Amazon.com Exclusive 3
Disk Set)
Note that the "Pokemon Ranger and the Temple of
the Sea" DVD itself contains 2 DVDs as described in the product description
for the 3 disk set. This means that Amazon.com's listing of just that movie
itself is incorrect (it lists the movie as 1 disc instead of 2 discs). Some
other online stores lists the movie itself at 2 discs (the movie itself on
disc 1, and "Pikachu's Island Adventure" on disc 2).
-----
Pikachu's Island Adventure
Not to be confused, the separate bonus titled "Pikachu's
Island Adventure" is available on the "Pokemon Ranger and the Temple of the
Sea" DVD. "Pikachu's Island Adventure" is available on the DVD whether you
buy it from Amazon or any other retailer. The only difference in the "Amazon.com
Exclusive 3 Disk Set" is the addition of the third disc containing the
"Pokemon Advanced Battle Vol. 1" DVD.
-----
"Pokemon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea" on DVD will be released on April
3, 2007.

Nintendo of America: Gearing Up for Pokemon Diamond/Pearl!
-02/17/07- |
Reggie Fils-Aime (President and Chief Operating Officer of Nintendo of
America) MTV interviewed Reggie
Fils-Aime (President and Chief Operating Officer of Nintendo of America), at
the Design Innovate Create Entertain (DICE) conference. Among the issues
discussed were the shortages of the Wii and DS. Also addressed was the soon
to be launched Pokemon Diamond and Pokemon Pearl:
From MTV.com article: Wiis are beginning to show up in
stores, but it's Nintendo's DS Lite portable that is in even shorter
supply, despite being on the market in the U.S. since last summer. "We put
everything in the marketplace that we humanly could by December 25th. But
from December 26th until mid-January, we were effectively out of stock."
Fils-Aime said relief will come in stages. "It's going to be tight
probably until March. And then as we gear up for the April 22nd launch of
'Pokemon Diamond' and 'Pokemon Pearl,' things should certainly open up at
that point." |

Pokemon Diamond/Pearl: Toys and English Names!
-02/13/07- |
The Toy Fair 2007 is currently being held in New York during February 11-14,
2007. Jakks Pacific, which signed a licensing contract to manufacture
Pokemon toy products with Pokemon USA in 2006, showed many of their new
Pokemon products that will be launched this year. In doing so, they have
also revealed the English names for many of the Diamond/Pearl Pokemon.
Pokemon Diamond/Pearl Starters Among them, the English
names for the Pokemon Diamond/Pearl starters were revealed. The names are
Turtwig (grass type), Chimchar (fire type), and Pochama (water type). (Note
that these names are subject to change. The starters names are based on low
resolution images of the Pokemon's products and Entertainment Earth store's
product description). Other Pokemon
Names At the moment, other names are noticeable from
pictures of Toy Fair 2007, but several of them remain a guessing game due to
the low resolution images. -----
Entertainment Earth - Product Descriptions An online
store, Entertainment Earth, displayed the new Jakks Pacific Pokemon toys at
their store. Although no product image is available, they do supply the
product's name and description. The most information displayed are from the
Pokemon Diamond and Pearl Action Figures. The sets of figures contain names
of the original Pokemon (like Pikachu), names of officially confirmed
Pokemon (like Dialga and Palkia), and names of Pokemon we just have to make
a good guess at based on what we see from the Toy Fair 2007 pictures. The
problem with these descriptions are they contain many errors, and in some
cases, have a mix of English names and Japanese names (which further
complicates things). However, using the descriptions and pictures from Toy
Fair 2007 together, some comparisons and some corrections can be made, which
I outline in below:
Pokemon Diamond & Pearl Wave 1 Single Pack Action Figure Case
Pikachu (standing), Pikachu, Chatot, Manaphy, Buizel, Mantyke, Raichu,
Mime Jr., and Aipom. (Subject to change)
Pokemon Diamond & Pearl Wave 2 Single Pack Action Figure Case
Pikachu, Cherrim, Turtwig, Chimchar,
Croalurk, Starly, Pochama, Buneary, Electrivire,
and Pachirusu. (Subject to change)
Pokemon Diamond & Pearl Wave 3 Single Pack Action Figure Case
Happini, Dorpian, Dialga, Kricketot,
Palkia, Golem, Glameow, Ponyta, Carnivine, and Sudowoodo. (Subject to
change) -----
Errors Corrected (Based on low resolution pictures, so it's a
"guesstimate") Mantai
= Mantyke
Cherrim = ???
Gureggru = Croalurk
Mukkuru = Starly
Bippa
= Happini
Dorpian
= ???
Koroboshi
= Kricketot

Awaiting Official Pokemon Names Of course, rather than
playing a guessing game, hopefully more or all of the new Pokemon's English
names will be revealed soon. It will be here in the news when that happens.

"Pokemon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea" DVD: Box Art and Bonus!
-02/13/07- |
Here's the box art for the next Pokemon movie, "Pokemon Ranger and the
Temple of the Sea." The box art also reveals that a bonus will be included,
it's titled "Pikachu's Island Adventure."
Amazon.com Exclusive 3 Disk Set In addition to
the DVD, Amazon.com has the movie available with "Amazon.com Exclusive 3
Disk Set." The original DVD is listed at $13.99 (listed as one disc DVD),
and the Amazon.com Exclusive 3 Disk Set is also listed at $13.99. The
product page at Amazon currently does not list any further information on
the 3 Disk Set. The bonus, Pikachu's Island Adventure is included in the
original one disc DVD (that's what the above box art is for), so it's
unknown what further material the extra two discs on the 3 Disk Set will
offer (currently shows no box art at Amazon, so we can't see any further
information from that either, if any will be on the box art).
Both items are scheduled to be released on April 3, 2007.

From
WorldScreen.com:

Liebmann as its director of retail development and promotions.
Liebmann’s responsibilities include developing and implementing retail

redemptions, on-packs and in-packs, a variety of cross promotions and
private label and direct-to-retail opportunities. |
----- Caryl Liebmann was the Director

Pokemon USA hires? Well, for one, it shows that Pokemon USA is taking good
care of Pokemon by hiring an experienced executive like Caryl Liebmann (as
well they should be, since Pokemon is the second bestselling game franchises
of all time). And of course, Caryl Liebmann is already familiar with the
